I agree. I did hear that the Whittingham situation is a coach in waiting situation.
I'm mostly talking about a Marcus Freeman situation. Where if a HC is having success and leaves for a "better job", the coordinators having a chance chance to get promoted. For my Teambuilder team, I started as an OC. Our HC left for a better job after a championship, but both me and the DC stayed and we got a new HC. I just rather one of us get the job.
Either way, I know how I'll approach it this time around . I'll either start as the HC of my TB school or as a DC of a 1 star school👍 1Comment

Also… there have definitely been situations where head coach is fired midway through the season. Coach X is named interim HC. Team rallies and they perform well. Interim coach gets the head job at the end of the season.Comment

After the first season, where does custom conferences fall in order in relation to players leaving and the transfer portal? I was planning on doing a promotion/relegation system but it might not make as much sense if players with a conference prestige dealbreaker don’t leave in the same offseason that their team gets relegated.Comment

This happened to Orgeron twice even though he only got the job the one time lolComment

A coordinator being promoted would probably only happen if the head coach retired or left for a better/bigger job.
I think it would be almost unheard of for a head coach to be fired and for a new head coach to come in and keep both coordinators.Comment

Alright, here are some things I've found out so far:
- Still can't set custom playbooks as the team scheme in dynasty, so formation subs still won't work with custom playbooks
- Separate user and CPU kicking sliders
- Can't play or watch CPU games
- Recruit appearance editing is limited to height and weight. New body type selection is added this year. Can't change faces or skin color.
- Can't edit recruit positions in dynasty. This is a big L, we could do this last year. Didn't use it much, mostly only for swapping LE/RE or LT/RT if needed. Not sure why they'd remove this option
- Can't edit recruit traits; scouted recruits still don't show their traits
- Can't edit recruit abilities
- Player heads look the same as last year; haven't seen new recruits with long dreads yet. Doesn't mean they don't exist, but I simmed a year forward and looked at freshmen on 20 different teams. I've see short dreads that kind of hang off the side of his head and come down to nose level. The long hair heads seem to be the same as last year, either man bun or long straight hair.
- Can't edit NIL player anything again (didn't expect anything to change there, but checked anyways as there might have been a small chance they allowed ratings editing)
- Hurry up has been expanded to match what Madden does with it
- Teambuilder is for online dynasty only
Overall disappointed in the lack of customization. I feel we should have been able to edit recruit abilities and traits, and we should at least be able to see what a recruit's traits are when scouting him. There is also no excuse for removing features that were in last year's game (changing position in player edit). Typical EA though, they'll add it in an update or back into next year's game. Also disappointed that we still can't use formation subs with custom playbooks, and still can't play CPU games. Most of the unanswered questions I had leaned towards the unpreferred outcome unfortunately.
That said, these things don't outweigh the upgrade to this game from CFB 25 for me, and a lot of the hype I had for this game was based on what we DID know. Coaching stats page, records page, CFB history are big updates, and will make my tracker spreadsheet work pretty minimal this year. Real coaches are a plus. Wear and tear sliders are a plus. The big thing I found out today that is a plus is no huddle system and separate user and CPU kicking sliders.
All in all, yes I'm disappointed at some of the omissions, but I'm still going to enjoy this game a lot. Now I'm off to create my custom playbook!

I saw that there's a setting option that may be what does or doesn't allow editing. I'm wondering if you can check that out for us all? It's in this picture -

Can you see if changing the Player Edit Permission levels do anything of consequence?(...brought to you by Carl's Jr.)Comment

I just recruited guys and then changed them when they joined my team during “position changes” in the offseason. You’re not saying that’s gone?
Take OT for example… I’d see a 6’4, 300 lb guy listed as LT and a 6’7, 313 lb guy as RT. If I landed both, when they were added to my roster, I would just flip them to be like real life.Comment

What about small schools? I thought I remember the Northern Illinois coach jumping to NC State and NIU just promoted their OC. I feel like that happens a decent amount. Small school does well. Coach jumps to mid-level P4 job. OC/DC decides to stay as head guy vs going with head guy as OC/DC at better school.

Does dynasty track non position specific stats this year? I.e. passing stats for non-QBs or offensive stats for defenders.
I was shocked that it didn’t do this last year with TH12 as one of the cover athletes, but it certainly should be done this year with the introduction of the gadget position.Favorite Teams:
College #1: Michigan Wolverines
College #2: Michigan State Spartans (my alma mater)
College #3: North Carolina Tar Heels
NHL: Detroit Redwings

Do your players gain xp and upgrade points during the season?
I ran a test dynasty with New Mexico and all of my players had 0 upgrade points at the end of the season (before offseason training) and all their xp bars were fully empty.
To clarify, i have manual progression turned on, so no points should have been invested by cpu.👍 1Comment

How do schedules look 2-3 years later in dynasty? Last year we would play 4 road games in a row at times.
