Re: NCAA Will Not Renew EA Sports Contract, NCAA Football Series (in name at least) d
If I was an AD id actually look at this as an opportunity to PAY my players for something legitimately and use it as a recruiting tool. With the license money i'd throw a small stipend out to each player thus allowing EA to use their name and details.
The marketing benefits alone is worth it. Yes, to larger teams like my LSU Tigers it may not be that appealing but def for the low-mid tier teams.Comment

Re: NCAA Will Not Renew EA Sports Contract, NCAA Football Series (in name at least) d
This just crossed my mind. Could we possibly see them jump to another like with NFL 2k5 and throw ESPN on the front if that? Now obviously like previously stated, NCAA can't be there, but maybe something like "ESPN College Football."
We all know ESPN would love the money side of this and it would probably promote left and right. I'm not even saying EA will make this, maybe another developer makes a leap knowing that something like this is possible.
I'm just throwing it out there. It could really take presentation to another level having ESPN behind the game.My Newport Falcons Football Dynasty (Teambuilder) (CFB25)

Re: NCAA Will Not Renew EA Sports Contract, NCAA Football Series (in name at least) d
IF 2K takes it, if NCAA allows it of course, I think they will at least try it for a year or two. They got nothing to lose. I htink people are ready for something new from a new DEV and I know many long time 2K fans would be happy. I'd of been happier to see the NFL license closed with E.A. rather than NCAA though...Comment

Re: NCAA Will Not Renew EA Sports Contract, NCAA Football Series (in name at least) d
This just shows how the NCAA knows they're dying, the NCAA is on the verge of nonexistence in major schools. One big Super Conference is on the way, coaches and schools that can afford to will pay players and something about this licensing will be in their letter of intent they sign to come to college. We may have to go a few years without college football but in time it will be better because EA/2k/etc. will be able to put players likeness and names in games. While its sad that we may have to do without (or do with a lesser generic game) for awhile it opens up new possibilities that can't exist with the NCAA, death to the NCAA, welcome Super Conference, I'm ready.Comment

Hey at least if they do remake the game under different name we will be able to have things the NCAA would never have allowed, like player celebrations, taunting, player discipline, etc.Comment

Can't they just keep the series going as a generic team named game, upgrade teambuilder and let all 126 teams be replaced by teambuilder teams?Comment

Re: NCAA Will Not Renew EA Sports Contract, NCAA Football Series (in name at least) d
I'll post this one more time because I think most people missed it. This is from the press release:
Member colleges and universities license their own trademarks and other intellectual property for the video game. They will have to independently decide whether to continue those business arrangements in the future.
EA will have to work with the individual conferences like they always have to get rights to logos, stadiums and uniforms. Same with the BCS. This just affects the ability to use the NCAA mark.
So if I'm reading this correctly, all this means is instead of NCAA 15, maybe we'll get ESPN College Football 2015. And since the playoffs are called the "College Football Playoffs" and not "NCAA Football Playoffs", then not having NCAA in the game isn't really a big deal.
It seems it would only be a big deal if their decision to not renew convinces other conferences and teams to not renew.Comment

One other note:
2K IS NOT BUYING THE DAMN LICENSE!!!!!!
The end of the license has nothing to do with a license fee. It has to do with the O'bannon case and the fact that O'bannon is using video games as a justification for pursuing his claim. The NCAA is not going to sell its license to another company.Comment
