Re: NCAA 2014 = THE END!
Can't imagine they will put any more resources into this than they have to. If they are not obligated to make a patch, no real financial sense in doing so if the series has met its demise.Chalepa Ta Kala.....Comment

Trying not to make this a big deal but man..
tears are coming to my eyes!
manly tears of course..
I remember growing up as a kid playing NCAA 2003.. and playing every version since.. this is truly the end of an era and I am sooo sad to see it end.Comment

Re: NCAA 2014 = THE END!
Smaller schools who were not included in the NCAA's licensing agreement can go to EA and say "we'll give you whatever you want to put our school on the game" now and NCAA can't do anything about it.Comment

I think 2K might take it. But not sure. I think a lot of people forget that 2K had Gamebreaker the same time E.A. wsa making NCAA and that failed. Although that was a long time ago. Be interesting to see what happens next year.Comment

Hmm very interesting, also noting the current case by the ex-athletes as a main reason why it's not in their best interest to continue video game licensing...
I don't see how any legitimate company is going to be able to create an NCAA football game worth spending money on for quite a while.

No one will be taking it; the NCAA is removing themselves from the situation entirely because of the lawsuit.Comment

Re: NCAA 2014 = THE END!
I am from canada and have been getting the college game since bill walsh college football on the sega genesis. Have always enjoyed the series through it's up's and down's. If their truly is no more college game I will be holding on to 14 for some time. I also grabbed NCAA Basketball 10 not long ago for $10 as that was the last one made as well."If you don't have anything good to say, say it often"- Ed the sockComment

Re: NCAA 2014 = THE END!
People are jumping the gun a bit. One, EA has released football games in the past without an NCAA license (Bill Walsh series). Two, this is connected to the O'bannon lawsuit and if the NCAA wins it or settles it in their favor, they will be back looking for licensees. Three, with teambuilder, EA could still release the game without the NCAA logo and team names and allow users to create names, teams etc. Four, there is a key part of the release that people are ignoring:
Member colleges and universities license their own trademarks and other intellectual property for the video game. They will have to independently decide whether to continue those business arrangements in the future.
EA will have to work with the individual conferences like they always have to get rights to logos, stadiums and uniforms. Same with the BCS.
I cant see EA walking away from college football revenue yet.Last edited by aholbert32; 07-17-2013, 02:50 PM.Comment

This isnt the end of college football games. But until the O'Bannon suit is settled and an agreement is reached regarding reimbursing players for their likeness, we may have to wait.
In the future conferences or individual universities may sell their rights to development companies. It may not be EA, it might be 2K, but some developer will see the value in producing a college football game at some point in the near future. It's always about the $$$Comment

This is unreal. It's not a total shock given the O'Bannon case but it's still ridiculous.
There is no way the "colleges can license out their own likeness" is ever going to work. It'll turn into a huge pissing match like Barkley and Pippen in NBA2K but way worse. I'm sure Notre Dame will demand twice as much money as any other school in the game and other similar nonsense.

As someone who loves college football 24-7 this sucks. I don't play Madden. Outside of my favorite team, I don't get the same joy I get playing NCAA. I feel like my football gaming is dying a little today.I bleed Garnet and Gold. In The 'Slim Reaper' We Trust. Go Noles!Comment

Re: NCAA 2014 = THE END!
Maybe EA will be kind and add a "generic" amateur league to next-gen Madden games to simulate college ball.
Nahh they won't. Maybe they'll be able to produce a better Madden game now that they have access to members of the NCAA team... probably not.
Hopefully EA lets the NCAA servers run for longer than 1 year at least.Comment

Wow this came out of no where.
I guess next years game will be called College Football 15 or something like that. I at least hope they make another one. It looks like all the schools will still be able to provide licensing.
