Re: What are your best dynasty stories?

Oddly, my most enjoyable seasons are the ones that are very unspectacular. Way back on NCAA '04 I had an underachieving 5-7 season with Washington. The whole season was a struggle just trying to become bowl eligible. But every game was big.....and never a sure thing. While losing those games was frustrating, there was something realistic about it.

I have had plenty more succesful seasons that had there share of late game heroics. But those often felt like I was just playing a video game. I guess I am a jaded old gamer at this point.

I love seasons like that too.

It's just hard to do in these games for me. I usually have some tough years in my first season or two with the program, but after that it gets too easy. I mean, it makes sense - you win games and go up in prestige, so you bring in better and better players.

I just wish that the game was a little more realistic in terms of how teams fluctuate each year. Even teams like Texas and Florida and USC, who have played for National Championships lately, have had some real down years. You don't see that a lot in the game, especially for user-controlled teams.

Re: What are your best dynasty stories?

I managed to get Marshall to a #3 ranking and an undefeated regular season as OC after steamrolling through the CUSA with Cato (Over 5,000 yards of offense, 59 total TDs including bowl games) who was up for a Heisman against Mariota who was leading the Ducks to an undefeated season as well. I was playing in the championship vs UTEP and needed either Oregon or Ohio State to lose for a spot in the NC.

I was just starting when I see the score at the bottom of the screen say Ohio State lost in the championship game. I think 'great, time to put up some stats so I can get me a Heisman'

I started to get cocky and threw 2 picks which led to touchdowns, and I go into the half down 17 and with my offense having put up just 7 points. I come out of halftime and start tearing through their defense and force overtime with a pass that was tipped into the air and caught by my receiver for a 75 yard TD with around a minute left.

After 3 overtimes it's looking like neither defense is ever going to stop the other offense, when my D holds them to a FG. Now all I need is a TD. I drive down to the one, but get cute and call a play action pass. I try to force it to my receiver in the back of the endzone, but it's picked off. Season over, goodbye national championship. Mariota ends up winning the Heisman despite having 600 fewer yards and 12 fewer TDs than Cato.

I go to the Sugar Bowl and get edged out 21-24 by the Gators.

Next year I took the OC job at Cal

Re: What are your best dynasty stories?

I started from the bottom with UMass. After a 10 win season in the MAC the first year, I moved them to the American Conference. After winning 7 games, and then 10 games in my second and third seasons, I had retained enough talent for my fourth year to really make a difference. After winning some huge games early on, and managing to stay unbeaten, I had to fight back against an unranked UConn. After taking a 2 point lead with under a minute left, I pick the ball off around my 20/30 yard line. Unfortunately, I had recruits visiting, and still needed to hit 250 passing yards for a bonus. I called PA Power O and rolled right. My TE had separated from the backer, and I let loose a pretty spiral. I never saw the Safety. He was tackled before getting to the endzone, but the damage was done. I lost by a point, lost my starting QB till the bowl game, and ruined my chance at an undefeated season and possible BCS Championship.

In the same UMass dynasty I mentioned in an earlier post, Florida and South Carolina were ranked #1 and #2 respectively going into their divisional game. Florida won by a considerable margin, but the next week South Carolina was still ranked #2. Teams #3 through #8 lost that same week, enabling SoCar to stay in the title game hunt. Crazy enough, Florida goes on to lose the SEC Championship, and I play a #1 ranked SoCar for the title. My defense forced 5 turnovers, (4 of them INT's), as I rallied to win by a FG as time expired.

Re: What are your best dynasty stories?

In NCAA 09 I had a crazy situation. Another poster apparently had the same thing happen. Mizzou dynasty I recruit a 5 star receiver named Kenneth Jones. Came in as an 85. Unbelievable player. Still the best recruit I have ever had. Sophomore year he wins the Heisman and I win my first Natty. That offseason he wants to transfer to....wait for it.....New Mexico. I was able to bring him back after A LOT of negotiating.

                That's when I got creative.

Decided to suspend him for the first game because of "misconduct detrimental to the team." His junior debut, out of nowhere, he broke is arm and missed 6 weeks. Decided that he was too big of a distraction so he sat on the bench the remainder of the season. The following offseason he went pro as a 95 OVR Junior. Pretty much s*** on Mizzou his final season. To have some more fun I had an NCAA Investigation carried out that found Jones guilty of being paid and contacting an agent in his time at Mizzou. Reduced my scholarships from 25 to 15 for 5 seasons. (Pretty much Reggie Bush at USC)

Still by far my favorite dynasty.

I was playing in the sec champ. Against 1 Florida and I was 3 TAMU. the winner would theoretically go to the NC. I was leading all game but ended up throwing a pick in the beginning of the 4th QT. They ended up scoring on that play. I drive down the field and score again taking the lead, our defense stops them for a 3 and out but low and behold i get scacked and fumble and they score to take the lead. On my final drive in the fourth I try to force the ball down field and get a 49 yard reception to only throw a pick then next play. The run the clock and I lose, not only the game but for a chance at a crystal ball.

A 5 star Dual Threat QB with elite speed and very good throwing ability as well. He was going to lead my team into my "domination era" for my team. Year one, He comes out and does everything that I expected of him and more. He won the heisman as a freshman and led the team to undefeated team up until the Nat'l Championship game, in which was lost to a team stacked with talented seniors. After the year completed and we headed into the off season, to my shocking surprise, He decides he wants to transfer schools to my buddy's team where he will become the backup for at least a year!!! Ive never been more pissed that the game. I could have rattled off 3 national championships in a row i feel. But with his departure we had to settle for 1 over the 4 year span. WHO TRANSFERS AFTER WINNING THE HEISMAN????!!!! Really!!??

I was about 7-9 years into my Tulane dynasty and undefeated going into my conference championship where I played Cincinnati. I had the lead almost the entire game and was up by 17 going into the 4th quarter. Cincinnati then came back and took a 4 point lead with 30 seconds to go. I got the ball and got to the 50 with one second left and called a timeout. I then threw a prayer to my star receiver. He caught the ball at the 6-7 yard line and started running. He then got stopped at the one yard line to lose us the game and the chance to play for the national championship.

I also recently lost my conference championship to UCF while I was undefeated. I was up by 6 with 1 second to go and they were on their own 40. They threw a hail mary that was caught at the 5 and taken into the endzone for the tie and kicked the PAT for the win.

Re: What are your best dynasty stories?

In all my dynasties I "climb the ladder" if you will, start off as an OC. I'm a big time offensive guy. My favorite team is Boise State, but I never pick them because they're too good, I prefer to build a program.

Year 1 I'm an OC at Idaho. We go 7-5, NO BOWL GAME. What a ripoff!

Get a better offer and become OC Colorado state. Spend 1 year there and we go 8-4, win our bowl game (can't remember, may have been Poinsettia). That year I had the #3 scoring offense with around 42 PPG, #20 something passing and #30 something rushing. That year Boise won the national championship.

Again get a new offer... THE Ohio State University. I am not an Ohio State fan AT ALL, but its good experience. Spend one year as an OC there under Urban, undefeated national champs. Played against Boise State, in their 2nd straight national championship run to win 55-45. Bittersweet to beat your favorite school lol. #1 scoring offense with 50+ PPG, #3 passing with around 350 a game, #20 rushing with about 200 a game or so, averaged nearly 600 yards of offense a game. Clearly, this season was a MAJOR boost on my skill tree.

Get my first head coaching offer at Umass and take it. My skill tree was built and I had an "A" prestige after the Ohio State gig. I got offers from bigger schools but it felt unrealistic to make that leap with no HC experience.

Spent 2 years at Umass, 6-6 (no bowl, 2 AA opponents) and 8-4, with some rinky dink bowl win. As luck would have it, Boise faced a sharp decline after the Ohio State loss in the national championship. 7-5, then 4-8.

I spent one more year at Umass and compiled their first FBS 10 win season, MAC champions. Lost the bowl game to a mid level team from a power 5...cant remember anymore.

Boise State that year? 2-10. 7-5, 4-8, 2-10...they said enough is enough and let the coach go! Since I picked them as my alma mater, I got the offer.

I took over a Boise program that had plummeted to 78 overall and 3 stars.

Its still my longest running dynasty. Cant let the dream job go! 7 years into the job, 5 national titles (last 4 in a row). Now in the BIG 12 conference. I don't play it much because even with the sliders all changed its not too challenging. Plus with all those titles and extra BCS money I wish I could modify things...like expand the stadium etc etc. Kind of unrealistic to win so many titles and be a 6 star program...with a stadium that seats 37k.
                          Check out my dynasty:

I was looking back at my notebook from my year playing NCAA 2010 and I found a dynasty that I ran for 23 years. I started with Ohio, left for Navy, left for Georgia, then lastly left for my favorite team ND which went 2-9 the year before. After my first season with them (we went 5-6) I landed a 5* QB, a 4* RB, 2 4* WR, 2 4* OLinemen, 1 5* DT, 2 4* LB, and 2 4*CB. The next 4 seasons we went 42-6. We won 2 Titles, lost 1 title, and lost another bowl game. Sometimes I feel what happens in my dynasties should be written in a novel. I personally think that someone could write novels just going off of any NCAA Football game and story lines they have implemented in their dynasty.

In 2018 I got a Job offer to coach UNC. I accepted the offer seeing as they had a decent team but they were doing pretty bad in the past years.
I dont remember much but i do know we did pretty decent. coming up to a game versing Georgia Tech. It was literally the best game i ever played. We ended up going to 6OT and our defense got the win stopping them on fourth down!
After that we ended up having a lot of momentum and made it to the ACC championship game on a 7-5 record, vs FSU (who won all the ACC Championship games in this dynasty so far).
We luckily did get the upset on a last minute interception if i remember correctly. With that win we got a invite to a NY6 Bowl Game going against #14 Cincinnati. I thought it was going to be a piece of cake... we ended up losing like 56-14. We finised 8-6.

After That season we went like 7-5 and i left because all my good players left.

I do still think i have that Dynasty file..may load it up and play lol.

Not Dynasty but RTG I was undefeated in the SEC championship game I think and if we won there we would go to the National Championship. Anyways after I think 6 OT's I go to scramble for the TD to send it to a 7th and am stopped inches short. This was in year 2 after losing in the national championship in year one to a Hail Mary. Would miss the championship in year three and in my senior year we finally won it all.
