Re: What are your best dynasty stories?

4th year in my Akron franchise, so I had built a pretty stacked roster by then. I was playing against #1 Alabama. I turned over the ball twice, and found myself down 21-0 halfway through the 2nd quarter. I then proceeded to drop 63 unanswered points on them and blow them out of the water. lol

      BAD

Year 9 of dynasty, 5th season rebuilding a terrible Arkansas Program. Lost to UGA in SEC title game on a failed last second comeback: INT in endzone on desperation 4th down pass for first loss of season. SO Razorbacks are 12-1 but we all know what happens to title game chances with a late loss even to a good team... two 2 loss teams played in the Natty while I went to the Sugar Bowl

      Good

3 years after that we beat Oregon with just a merciless defense & a very young offense in the title game 9-7 on 3 fields goals, the final being as time expired.

2 years after that the offense is all seniors now. Go 14-0 beat MSU in title game behind our amazing QB Jerome Brown and an incredible offense... Took 14 seasons to reach the perfect season. Was amazing!

Re: What are your best dynasty stories?

I had a senior WR for Marshall named Obi Obialo (real guy, but this was a couple years ago so he’d started as a freshman.

Finally his senior year he got regular play time in the slot and he did well. Extremely well. Over 1000 yards well. Found him open over the middle time after time after time. But dude could not find the end zone.

If I had a dollar for every time he was tackled inside the 5, or got completely blanketed in the end zone when I was trying to push it to him, I would have a lot of dollars.

Had a great season, made the Sugar Bowl as the B12 champion. Tight game against Ohio State, back and forth the whole time. I get the ball with a minute and a half left, down 4, and put together a drive. 20 seconds left I have the ball on the 15 and I run a play intended to go to my X man on an out, hoping to advance and get out to stop the clock. But the play also has Obi running a post, and I glance up as the out is developing and see him free. I didn’t have time to properly read it; the out would be too developed if I waited any longer. But I let it fly and hit Obi perfectly at the 5, and he walked in for a TD.

Was probably the most memorable TD I have had in NCAA.

Still have this saved so I’m just gonna copy and paste it.

First game in my 2015 UAB dynasty. Teams overall is 48, my starting QBs accuracy is 73, and I don't have a single run play in my playbook. My first 57 plays of the game, I had 136 yards and had completed 21 passes. (37%) I was down 31-3 to an FCS school and I couldn't move the ball at all. My #1 and #2 WRs had both been hurt, and my QB couldn't get warm. I'd given up and went with my 4th string QB. That's when things got fun. 5 drives, 4 touchdowns, and the game winning FG as time expired. I first scored from 2 yards out with 36 seconds left in the 3rd quarter. Then again, same distance, 5:19 left in the game. Then I completed a 21 yard TD pass on RNS Vert Read with 3:27 left. On my second to last drive, I remember facing a 4th and 2. Ran a shallow cross and picked up 3 yards. Then with 46 seconds I scored, for what I thought was the last time in regulation. I figured they'd get the ball back and run out the clock or score. Instead, they threw an INT and I got the ball back with about 30 seconds left, having 42 yards to get in the winning score. I didn't quite get there, throwing an incompletion with 1 second left. Out trotted my kicker to try to win the game from 28 yards out. I decided to watch the play, which I never do. As soon as those refs put there arms up I started jumping and shouting around my house. Somehow it wasn't one of my top 10 game scores ever, but it was the greatest game I've ever played. Bjartr Milan, whoever you are, I freaking love you man!

Easily my most intense game ever.

I think i was playing NCAA football 11. In my UConn dynasty, we just came off a BCS bowl win to finish the season something like 11-2 or 10-3. First game of next season, we play Akron. We beating the like 24-19. They have the ball with maybe 4 seconds left and near the end zone, maybe 15 yard line. Ball is snapped, pass is thrown, my CB or safety is right there. WR still comes down with it in the morning endzone. Killed my will.

Was 10-0 as Penn State. Somehow unranked army was hanging with us late in the season. I take the lead late, they take it back with like 30 seconds remaining. Miraculously, we made it down to the 1 yard line with ten seconds left and THREE timeouts...

              QB sneak..... Denied.

Re: What are your best dynasty stories?

Most memorable season is when i took over a pretty mediocre North Carolina team. I went not sure how long i was going to stay, but decided to see whats up. I forgot what team i played but we won a game after SIX overtimes (only game i had that went to that many OTs) Ended up with a 8-5 record and a Conference Championship matchup against FSU. Surprisingly we upset FSU by a touchdown and got invited to the Orange Bowl.
                Sadly Cincinnati destroyed us 41-14.

Another story is when i was playing Coach Mode at Cincinnati. On paper QB1 was rated 83 ovr and QB2 was rated 76. I obviously started QB1. QB1 was pretty bad throwing interceptions after interceptions so i benched him and put in QB2. QB 2 ended up leading the nation in passing yards, had 40+ TDs and only threw 3 ints that season.

I left and coached at another school but QB2 ended up winning heisman that year i left.

Had a very similar experience with my QB1 & QB2 one season. My QB2's overall was lower but had a higher awareness rating which I assume impacts their performance above all else/what made him the better CPU QB?

Re: What are your best dynasty stories?

I always liked the small semi-self created stories in a dynasty. Some examples i experienced:

                    * I took over in the 2nd or 3rd year of my career as HC of Michigan and immediately got 2 transfer requests from players that wanted to come to Michigan. Both of them were players from Tennessee.
I accepted both (decent players for a weak roster) and didnt think to much of that both of them were ex-vols.
Then i see who my coordinators are and Butch Jones had been fired by the Vols and was hired as my OC. So apparently those 2 kids really liked to play for Butch and transfered to Michigan. I really like that as a backstory to those 2 kids and Jones as my OC.

                    * I'm having the 14 recruits a year houserule, as well as no scouting at all. Since i edited my roster to reflect the bad state michigans roster was in during/after Hoke i have Shane Morris as backup QB at 66 ovr (year 1) and 70 ovr (year 2). With my luck my QB1 gets injured both seasons and i have been playing Morris as starter the majority of both seasons. So you understand my need for talent at the QB position.

I recruited a 4-star freshman QB who was a bust at 68 ovr, so he is no help in the next couple of years. I only recruited 1 QB due to my 14 recruit a season limit, but that is obviously a big error since i still have a terrible QB room.

So for this year i recruited multiple 4-star QB's with the goal of signing 2. Me playing Shane Morris doesnt help for the recruitment due to me basically running 80% and not putting up any passing stats so no 5 stars are interest. But i am in the running for three 4 star guys. So i get the 1st one to commit, 73 ovr that turns out to be a 74 ovr after scouting (after i recruited him). Not bad but not what i was looking for.

So now i have 2 guys i'm also recruiting, a 4 star 70 ovr and a 4 star 76 ovr. Oh and quite important, the 4 star 70 overall is a Michigan native
With my 14 recruit limit and a bunch of other holes in my roster i cant afford to recruit both. And even though i would love to have a great QB from Michigan starting for Michigan i still feel i have to go for the safe bet and offer the 76 ovr and not him at 70 ovr. So i have offered the 76 ovr for weeks now and am recruiting the 70 ovr as well and am #1 on his list by a mile (kind of my backup plan).

Anyway the 76 overall commits to me... and turns out to be a major bust at 67 overall...
While in the same week the Michigan QB who i did not offer signs with my rival Notre Dame.... And after i scout him he ends up being a gem at 79 overall...

So yeah, next year ND will have a 79 overall freshman QB from Michigan starting for them, while Michigan will have to continue looking for a long term answer at QB with Morris at 75 ovr and a 74 ovr freshman being my best options.

As much as i hate missing this guy i love that i now have to play this kid for 4 years with this backstory. Things like that really make me like NCAA

Back in the day on Gamecube, NCAA 2005 I moved my coach from a big program to smaller program, North Texas The Mean Green. I played on Heisman at the time so wasn't expecting much lol, I went undefeated beating teams like Alabama and other top schools along the way. Won A Natty in just one season. Think that is when I realized maybe I need some sliders lol

I actually documented most of my NCAA Playing over the Years in a powerpoint, I made into a Google slide last year and posted it on NCAA Football Reddit.

Against Cal, I came back from a 17 point fourth quarter deficit. I scored 22 in the last 1:30. I scored, recovered an onside. Then Cal scores, but left me enough time to drive and score again to win.

I just finished 2013 with my Noles, trying to recreate our championship run with Jameis. I’m in the final 2 minutes of the game, up 20 against the only other undefeated team in the nation, Ohio State, 51-31.

Heisman winner Braxton Miller proceeds to score, Ohio state recovers an onside kick, they score on the next play, Ohio State recovers ANOTHER onside kick, and they score again as time expires. I lose 52-51.

I am still absolutely dumbfounded. Also, a lot of my team graduated / entered the draft early, so we are definitely going to take a step back this season.

                          Woof.
