1 MIAMI vs 14 DUKE
1st Half
Canes get ball first and from the opening drive I could tell that their defense was ready. Run game was stuffed, Interception on the first 3rd down. They get a 7 play drive with the great field position and take a 7-0 lead. We respond with a great drive and get in scoring range but the speed bursts by their DBs were too much on 3rd downs. We take the fg. 7-3 Duke. Our defense locks in and forces a punt after a few first downs. We finally convert on a 3rd down and the offense gets rolling for an 11 play drive all on the ground and a 10-7 Miami lead. Going into the half. Not many possessions in this one.
2nd Half
Defense stays focused and gets Duke off the field in 3 plays but we give it right back after an open pass is dropped on 3rd. We force another 3 & out and this time we score. After a sack on 2nd Murphy goes up top to Lee who makes a 41 yd diving catch and Castillo takes the yard the following play. 17-7 Miami. Canes force another punt going into the 4th. Duke gets it back and makes some big plays, the last being a 24 yd screen pass to Walton for a td. With 3:24 left we get a 3rd and short, Murphy locks in on the uncovered man but its a zone blitz, Duke picks it off. Duke moves it to the 35 and tries for another screen with 1:30 left left, this time Miami picks it off. Canes get negative yards on both runs and a drop on 3rd so they punt it back. Small has 1:16 and 1 timeout. CB gets burnt on 3rd down for 24 yds, Small takes off for 25 yds, then a 4 verts call vs cover 3 has my FS run the opposite direction after the ball is thrown for the td. 21-17 Duke. Canes get one last shot with 0:24. 22 yd completion, another drop, then a hail mary that comes up short. Duke upsets the #1 Canes
