      DUCKS HOST TROJANS

Our starters dominated theirs for 3 quarters. Backups play 99% of fourth quarter and USC gets a participation award for garbage time stats. Kept debating on whether or not to bring my starting D back on the field, decided not to. But we I’m very proud with this team and how dominant they were. Backups on the other hand, got a lot of work to do! These guys are the next men up and we will work with these guys to get them prepared for their roles forward on.

I honestly didn’t expect them to put up 30 in the fourth. Even if it was back ups. Dropped 3 interceptions in the fourth that the starters wouldn’t have dropped. It’s a lesson learned.

            6 OKLAHOMA vs WEST VIRGINIA

            1st
Oklahoma comes out in bully mode. They test the West Virginia defensive front with 10 straight runs eventually leading to an early 7-0 lead. That 4 minute drive meant nothing as West Virginia's pass game scores in a minute. 7-7. OU goes to a more balanced attack and score again after a 31 yd post to Stogner put them at the 4. 14-7 OU.

            2nd
West Virginia continued to shred OU through the air with yet again another quick scoring drive. 14-14. OU hits a 47yd pass over the top to Mims which gets the Sooners in fg range. 5 plays later the Sooners have 4th and 1 at the 20 and they go for it, only for WV's Simmons to meet Grey the second he takes the handoff. Turnover. Momentum is quickly diminished as the Sooners return the favor with a 3&out on a 4yd loss. Caleb leads another impressive drive with some great passes, including an 8 yd td pass to Gray. 21-14 OU. With 1:15 left WVU quickly gets the ball down the field before taking a fg to end the half. 21-17

            3rd Qtr
WVU gets the ball first as both teams look to establish the momentum for the 2nd half. The Mountaineers win that battle as they get 3 straight first downs in 3 plays and keep the drive going down to the 1 yardline, but OU's defense stands and forces a short fg. 21-20 OU. OU tries to repeat that opening drive on the ground but they lose a yard, 2nd down they go to a HB screen to get something short and Major pops for a 76yd td. 28-20 OU. WVU throws a short pass to their big WR Ford-Wheaton who turns it into a 44 yd play. Drive gets them back to the goalline and OU holds yet again forcing a short fg. 28-23 OU. Sooners stall and WVU is on the move.

            4th
WVU is back inside the redzone hoping to finally punch it in for the lead but the OU defense does it yet again holding them to a fg and holding on to the lead. 28-26 OU. Sooners feel the pressure knowing their defense cant hold forever, but they respond with a timely td drive of 8 straight positive plays and a 20 yard dot from Caleb to Wease in between the safeties. 35-26 OU. WVU looks to keep their momentum going as long as they score they are 1 stop away. They get to the 40 and its 4th and long with 3:03 left so they go for it, OU makes them dump it short and its a turnover on downs. Sooners pound the ball and Brooks breaks one for 20 yds. WVU starts using timeouts but 3 plays later Major extends the lead to double digits with another rushing td with 1:39 left. 42-26. WVU would make one last effort with 68 yd td on a bomb plus the 2pt cutting the lead to 8, but the onside is recovered by OU who kneels it the last 1:14. Sooners survive.

We started Caleb after a mediocre game from Rattler week knowing that we'll need Caleb if we want to beat Texas next week. He went 15/23 with 3tds and 0int. Bounced back with a clean slate and took advantage. I have my QB, I know my team's strengths and weaknesses now and how to manage that on both sides. Heading into Red River week I finally know what our identity will be and Im ready for Texas.

Yal boys got any thoughts on Custom PBs? I always wanted it out of the league bc I saw how people would do money plays out of it but with our pass game rules idk thats a concern anymore.. especially without hot routes.. Could potentially make the play calling less repetitive since the 5 wides and offset type stuff wouldnt be in the way.. Random thought

There’s over 130 playbooks on this game, there’s plenty of selection from that imo. There’s a playbook out there for everyone. I could be completely wrong but that’s just what I think

I actually like the idea, we’ve played this game for 8 years all the plays are known, the base setup is a playbook that has base run plays with base pass plays built off of a variety of formations being multiple. Stock playbooks are very generic in style. Ideally you should be able to flip through say 3 wr sets with multiple formations rather than the 2 or 3 you get from team specific with the same redundant plays. Same thing with defense but it’s more limited than offense every team has certain plays for certain situations if you pick stick 4-3, 4-2-5, and 3-4 you are pretty limited most teams have the ability to be multiple in defending an offense. In general there are a lot of different coverages with the same looks left out, as well as a lot of blitzes that are replaced with to many zero coverage plays. Jmo

What if it was a reduced playbook

Ex: Every team has about 22 formations I think.. If we did you pick your formations but you could only pick say 14 total on Offense and say 7 total on defense, you think that would still give you the same feeling?

Cant add everything, have to actually be extremely picky, but you also have an offense and defense that you choose based on your style

Im really looking for Cons more than anything bc I see the pros for sure on both sides of the ball.. Plus even if the formations are 14 and 7 you can still add and remove plays so with the goal of being less repetitive there's definitely a Pro there, even if we made people only pick the formation as is.. Im just not seeing any Cons in my head rn tbh but thats not normal lol
