The recruitment of #1 QB Chris Lemon continues to be one of the wildest roller coasters we've seen. Here's the latest.
• Lemon still has UCLA as his top school at the moment but has been rumored to have been in heavy contact with Texas over the past week. My source says OU who was expected to be the favorite to land Lemons is now 3rd on his list.
• All signs still point toward a NSD decision but the drama has been must see tv. Lemon has not spoken to any media directly but the speculation has all been consistent.
• Texas looks to be putting themselves in a position to make a real push for Lemon in the offseason but another week has gone by with no new commitments. They are still at 7 total players and going all in for Lemon could be bitter sweet but would it be worth it?
• Texas has 3 QBs on scholarship, all of whom could start right now. If they dont get a QB this cycle theyll need one next cycle so its not as if Lemon would be a waste, but their class wouldnt do anything to close the gap on OU who has won 7 out of the last 10 against Texas. Taking a key player from OU would be the biggest W but maybe not lead to one.
• OU seems to be the best landing spot for Lemon in terms of play time considering both UCLA and Texas both have their guy already. Lemon could be a day 1 starter at OU but it seems like his key factors are up in the air.
• Based on playing style Texas is clearly the spot with OU not far behind, but UCLA is a ground team. He said he wants to play where he wants to get the most national exposure so the Big 12 schools lead there as well. Proximity to home gives UCLA the clear edge with OU and UT being so far.
• Interesting story unfolding but expect more next week
