Your not contributing anything to the discussion by Saying Madden sucks it's a monopoly. That has been posted countless times before. Everyone understands that EA has monopolized NFL gaming. Your beating a dead horse.

I happen to think Madden is a pretty good game. I certainly enjoy it. Many people like it.

Yes I am disagreeing with your opinion but I am legitimately curious why you don't like Madden? What is wrong with the game that makes it a bad game for you? I enjoy Madden because of the Ultimate Team Mode which combines two things I like (Madden and Card Collecting). I feel that While the game can be improved and is flawed, It is not half bad. I feel EA could have taken significant steps back like they did the last time they launched onto a new generation of consoles. What does EA have to do to make you like Madden?

Angry Joe is an idiot plain and simple. He's the guy who tried to start the rumor that the PS4 had an overheating issue prior to release just to get hits on his site and was mad Sony wasn't sending him a free one early. He is an unclassy bum and just feeds into the bad stereotype of video gamers.

Make a better game...Simple....And my answer is as thorough a response as yours. We can continue to play this game until this thread is locked, or you can let my opinion be just that, my opinion....

I could go though a whole step by step reiteration of what I like and do not like about Madden, which I have outlined in many other threads, but I do not have the desire to do so for one person. If you are so inclined, there is a forum search system, look me up and read all my threads.

Yes, the NFL came to EA with the exclusive right....The term "monopoly" is not valid in the sense that it does not prevent anyone from building a football game. It is a monopoly in a broad sense that it does prevent another company from producing a foreseeable football game that will profit...The NFL license with players and teams is what makes the football game, at least for the ones purchasing the game...So, since the consumer is more than likely going to buy the game with the NFL teams and players, having it does create a monopoly....

How many copies did 2K Sports sell of their Non-licensed football games compared to EA's licensed games with NFL players and Teams, even though there are those who can show how much better 2K made their football game?
It's a loophole of sorts....

I really hope we get a thread started for every internet reviewer that deems Madden one of the worst games ever...

The thing is, as mentioned, he does have a large enough following that the industry has started to acknowledge him and his voice. He's not some random kid with a camera making a Youtube clip saying "Madden sucks!" Sure, he yells and has an over the top online personality, but if you get past that and listen to his actual points, they are actually well thought out and valid.

While I don't necessarily agree with him in calling it one of the "worst" games of the year, I'm glad someone with a voice as loud and listened to as his is calling Madden out. No one else seems to do it *cough* OS giving it an 8 *cough*.

Sure, his personality and style of video is not for everyone, but I don't think too many people could really argue with the points he made. Do those points make it one of the worst games of the year? I don't think so, but again, I'm glad someone is bringing attention the fact that the game is far behind where it should be. He's also bringing more attention to the fact that EA is full of it every year with what they hype the game to be and did it again with their BS "Ignite" trailers, the living sidelines garbage, etc.

If possible, it would be good if we can shift away from people arguing over whether or not Angry Joe is someone they like or not, if EA has a monopoly or not, and focus more on the actual criticisms made of the game and what, if anything, EA is going to do about it.

I, personally, hope EA improves the game, but with what we have for Madden 25, I am concerned it is going to be another generation of mediocre NFL football games. I have no real confidence in the current team to step up and "wow" us with an amazing year of Madden. It didn't happen on the 360/PS3 and it's not looking promising for the new generation either. I hope they step up and the more people come out and actually call Madden out for not delivering, for underperforming, for being mediocre, etc. it may end up giving them the wake up call they need.

I don't keep up on the home goods but it's no different than Martha Stewart signing her name and products over to sears (or wherever) or nikki minaj signing over her product line to KMART.


If EA was the only company allowed to make ANY game, that would be a monopoly.

Only one company being able to make a football game is NOT a monopoly as much as people want to make it out to be.

It's business, and the NFL has made license exclusivity a big part of their business model. It's their right to do as they wish with their intellectual properties. It's certainly not a loophole.

True. What I mean is more about simple comments like, "Angry Joe is an idiot" and that's all. OK, but what about what he said about Madden? What did you disagree with?

I'm a bit surprised he didn't mention something that is also a huge disappointment for me: player likeness. It seems like Madden is actually regressing here. I think everyone would be pretty accepting of the fact that not every single guy on every roster in the league is going to look spot on, but when guys like Tom Brady look less like Tom Brady then years ago in videogames, it's pretty sad. Also, it's 2014 and we have new consoles. They can't take the time to put even a single tattoo on a guy like Kaepernick? NBA2k has exact tattoos for so many players in the league, yet Madden doesn't even try here.

Again, it's just stuff that seems to mostly get a pass because I think they have successfully lowered the bar and people no longer really even expect a great football game anymore. It's more like, "OK, they're getting a little better... maybe next year will impress everyone." Next year comes and it's the same story again. Before you know it, a whole generation of consoles goes by and we never had a great NFL game to play with the level of polish and detail that games the MLB the Show have brought to videogames.
