Believe him or don't believe him, but it doesn't change the fact that Madden will NEVER be a simulation football game. The suits want this game to be a game where people pick it up and play. Simulation football doesn't fall under that category. Love it, like it, or hate it Madden will always look, feel, and play like Madden. EA Sports has always and will always be arcadey it's just who they are. Marketing is surely screwing over some of these guys that do what it to be simulation. But if they truly cared enough they would take their talents elsewhere.

Competition breeds change, motivation, and innovation as long as EA is the only one making football games it leaves room for laziness and/or comfortability. It's really easy to get comfortable when you have nothing to worry about. Like I've said before if we want motivation and innovation we need competition.

Wanting that kind of game isn't an excuse, though. Games are upwards of about 50 GB's right now. Madden was closer to ten last year. If you want a pick up and play game, fine. You have 40 GBs of your time and effort to make sure their are customizable options for the rest of us who actually want to play a game of football.

We are talking about EA Sports here. Based on their track record, is any of that a surprise? It's not at all to me. EA Sports is content with their product. So I don't see them making any kind of major changes. They still sell no matter what stupid gimmick they throw at us. The casuals still always buy the game and they are the majority. Casuals will always be the target crowd for EA and the sim guys will always suffer because of that.

Just watched the video on The System of EA Sports. Actually VERY interesting video. I would challenge people to not critique or hate on the video unless you understand systems theory, can show where he does not use the tools of systems theory correctly, and can provide an argument as to why systems theory is not a good lens to look at this.

I'll also add this, the social commentary undertones of these videos needs to stop. Some credibility is lost with me there. But that is as close to the TOS as I'll get.

I haven't watched any of the videos yet but I'm interested in what he has to say and if it draws a response from EA sports.

Re: So who do we believe when it comes to the GameChanger program?

so ive watched the videos. here is what i gotta say about it,there is alot of people who want to just straight up bash EA and claim madden is total trash, and honestly no matter what they do , those people will always say the same thing. Its called being closed minded. I mean , ive been a critic of EA for their maddens for quite a while myself, however , if you cant see the improvements from m12 - m13 , and from m13 - m25, your just in denial. i run an online league( one that stays full for the record since m12 when i started it ) and i have seen the improvements first hand , Is it perfect, no and no game out there is, including 2k14's basketball. lets just be real for a minute. Sure id love to see 2k make a game, but its not a promise their game would dominate madden out of the gate. But i do think competition is good for the overall products for us. I see madden making improvements , which leads me to my issue with these videos. Coach clearly makes it a point , that there ARE some people that are game changers, and some people who work within EA itself, who ARE working to make the game better. Then claims there are alot of people there, not wanting to do that because they are lazy. My question is , does no one here work a real job in this real world today? What job out there doesnt have some people who want to do whats right and work hard to make things better, and they are always working against the lazy people who just want to get the day over and get another easy check? i mean i really dont see how that is any different than most any other place of business anymore. No offense, but even 2k14 has tons of issues with their basketball games. Just try to play an online game on it....... people need to just understand , sadly the majority of people now in days are lazy, and just want an easy check. Its not just an EA issue. Sorry to burst peoples bubble. Im just glad to finally see things moving in a better direction , even if its slow improvement, its better than the direction it was going .
                      Yup, i said it !

Re: So who do we believe when it comes to the GameChanger program?

After watching all 13 videos a couple of times, I come away with the following:

                        1. He been involved with EA for many years and felt like the game wasn't improving fast enough from the years he been going down there. He felt like the head devs, the ones at the top simply dismissed his 30 pages of ideas every time he gave them to them.

                        2. He didn't seem to like the idea EA brought in SGibs and Zfarls into the program because they are tournament style players and they moved Madden into a more tournament style game for the past few years. Sure he didn't call them out by name, but it was pretty obvious who he was talking about when he said Prima Guide guys.

                        3. He feels as though Shopmaster and Madscientist stole The Game Changers Radio show from him. And I come away with the impression he really don't like Madscientist.

So in the end of the day, it really wasn't about a 2K vs EA thing at all. Just about a guy who feels as though that Madden should be a hell of a lot better then it is now. And feels as though the head developers simply don't listen to people who give them ideas to better the game into a more sim style game, but instead listen more to the people who want the game more tournament style, win at any cost type of players.

He does bring up some valid good points in about 2 or 3 of his videos. Problem is, all that good valid points is buried among the other 10 videos that simply comes off as an angry ex.

I hope you realize how much you are contradicting the point you are trying to make by talking about slow improvement and then comparing them to people who hardly work for a paycheck.

Could have stopped half way through your post would have been well received. I have no idea what you were rambling on about at the end...

I honestly can't believe people still doubt him. There has been a slew of people saying this type of thing for years.

Again it's just how venomous his approach is. I could do less with the antics but the main point still remains if you look past it.

If you think everyone at EA still wants to advance the sport of football, then I don't think there is much to discuss on the topic. I am sure some people mean well but slow progression and piecemeal improvements say more than anyone posting a blog from the company or a member of this program can.

He does bring up some valid good points in about 2 or 3 of his videos. Problem is, all that good valid points is buried among the other 10 videos that simply comes off as an angry ex.
maybe they "stole the show" because they are more personable people than him , after listening to his radio show , i cant say id want to hear him on another one.he kinda comes across as trying to be too hard to me. ive listened to numerous of shop and mads shows, and they do not sugar coat issues in the game in my opinion. They do call out issues in the game once it comes out and they are finally allowed to actually talk about it. they will tell where they see flaws in it, and they do tell the people at ea, but if top guys dont wanna listen as coach says, then they just cant do more than that.. i personally told them about an issue with the cf texting system not working for online leagues on madden 25 on the ps3, and the next day it was fixed..... coincidence. if you say so....ive also played shop and he isnt lobby or a tourney style player. however i can agree the guys at prima madden def are tourney style guys , who are leaning towards cheese.so while there may be a few nuggets of truth here and there, there is also alot of biased opinion thrown in as well.
                              Yup, i said it !

Could have stopped half way through your post would have been well received. I have no idea what you were rambling on about at the end...
actually i didnt contradict myself. i was saying he acts as if what goes on at EA is that much different than most places. Which im saying its not. its like that at most places you work anymore, you have some people who are lazy and some who arent , nothing new about that anywhere you go now in days. However that doesnt make entire company lazy and not willing to do something but it IS the reason it moves at a slow pace in progress rather than a quick one( one would work quick if everyone there worked hard and not just some) . sorry for confusing you
