I've got a million ideas running through my head that i get lost in the moment when working on this thing. I'll stop progress on one thing, and start to build something different to see if I can make it happen. its crazy.

just hope i get it done in time for the game so I can make the necessary changes shortly after its released.

An access guru would have this knocked out in a week I bet.
I hear ya! I've run into that with a few programs and projects I've worked on. You get 75% of the way done with something and think..."if I did this that way, I could add the other thing and something else" That's why I've been trying to get better about mapping things out ahead of time since it's usually a lot easier for me to change what's written on paper than try to adjust programming/code mid-project. Or worse...to try to come back to code and remember what you were doing before you got side-tracked.

If you're ok with it, I might play around with a couple ideas to see if I can get them working in Access. I didn't get into the guts of your Excel file enough to really apply stuff but I'm kinda looking at your Access stuff with more of that interest.

Inside, I'm kinda cursing this tool though...I was planning to take a year or two off of Madden but this has been such a great tool, I haven't touched my franchise...I'm still in Week 2 of the first year. At this point, I think I may as well just scrap it and start over with 16 before taking my hiatus...

      Re: JRT2006's Madden Scouting Tool

Basically what I have done is had a plan written out about how I want everything to function; this opens this, this does this, etc.

Then I've got my notebook where I've hand drawn forms and designed table layouts for record storing.

On paper it looks wonderful, when I get into access is where I run into the "oh, yeah I didnt think about that" moments.....which brings me back to paper again.

I've got a few advisers that I run to when I'm in a rut though, they basically look at my design and then give me the skinny on how to fix it along with a few lessons

I created it for '15. May work for 25, never played 25 so nOT sure the interface of the scouting or skills.

The recent discussion in the thread though, that's for the new tool I'm making. It'll be for 2016, wI'll work very similar to the excel tool but have additional features

                Re: JRT2006's Madden Scouting Tool

Development Trait? You don't...and you dont need it either.

Read the first post thoroughly and you'll understand what the tool does. It helps you locate the best players for your scheme, not the highest overall rated player, not the superstars, it doesn't guarantee you a future pro bowler with every pick.

You set your offensive and defensive scheme in game, then you determine what kind of players would best fit that scheme, then you scout those specific attributes. you'll draft a variety of "overall rated" players in random rounds, some low rated and some high. But every player you draft will be the best fit for the scheme you want to run. Then you can save some points and buy the development trait in game if need be.

This tool makes drafting in the game a little more realistic and fun, keeps you from aiming for the highest rated player you can get and instead directs you to draft players that fit your team. Which I think is a big issue with Madden, a high rated player can play whatever scheme you want in madden when in reality he could excel in one scheme and be okay in a different.

I mean for the roster evaluation tool not the draft scouting tool.

So you are asking about the new tool coming out? I dont have a roster evaluate tool, just a draft scout tool.

This is the opening screen that will guide you to either the management or the scouting portion of the tool.

Not going to reveal all of the design on here, just a sneak peek here and there

You're looking for the development trait of guys already on your roster, right? If so, you need to go into the Game Prep section and then you'll see the dots indicating what impacts their XP results. The Development one is where you want to look. If they don't have any dots filled in, they are "Slow" for Development. 1 dot is Average/Normal, 3 is Quick, and 5 is Superstar.

                        Hope this helps.

Hey bud, you mentioned value sheet and big board reports. could you elaborate....what exactly is a value sheet?
If its what Im thinking, the big board I have is a combination of the two

Multiple Screens, still finishing up the Scouting home screen then I'll begin work on the general manager portion.

A few questions to ask for your opinions:

1)A high valued prospect projected to go in the 3rd round. How high up would you want him to appear on the big board if his position need was:
Very Low (ex. mixed in with 4th round prospects)
Low (bottom of the list of 3rd round prospects)
Medium (whereever his True Value places him)
High (bottom of the list with 2nd rounders)
Very High (Middle to top of the list with 2nd rounders)

2)What is the easiest way to determine positional needs when drafting?
High, Medium, Low? Immediate Starter, BPA, Depth, etc.

Looking at the big board below, do you think any of the players should be placed higher or lower on the board based on their True Value (strictly the average of scouted skills) compared to their Final Value (True value with projected round and position need modifiers)

Should the projected round have such significant weighting? We all know where Brady et al featured etc!
