It shouldnt, but the way the tool runs, the 'True Value' rates the players skill only, the picture I posted for example has Branton Milliner (WR) with a True Value at 254 because he is a very good fit for my team, but hes projected in the 5th round. Do I really want to take him in the first round, because he grades out with the 1st rounders, when i could grab him in the 4th?

Re: JRT2006's Madden Scouting Tool
Based on True Value alone, this is what your big board would look like
If the top 4 are gone by your pick, are you going to grab that round 4 receiver?
Or do you want to grab the highest rated 1st rounder and grab that 4th round WR in the 3rd?Comment

Re: JRT2006's Madden Scouting Tool
Maybe just a slight tweak. Right now you have a 3rd rd guy as the 16 pick on your board. Maybe get that down to a late 1st early 2nd spot.

Re: JRT2006's Madden Scouting Tool
Keeping in mind that there are only 72 prospects on this big board, the numbers on the far right are NOT a suggested Pick #, just the rank number on the big board. So a player at the 25th spot does not necessarily mean he is 1st round, pick 21 material. With that said, I managed to drop the CB at #16 in the previous board down to #22 and at the bottom of the pack with scouted Round 2 prospects. Also, RG and TE were rated High and Very High as far as position needs go, i guess I should run it without need modifier, I'll update the post with new screenshots in a second
Also, another opinion needed from the crowd.
2 prospects, both a first rd projection and both are of a position with medium need. listed below is there skills importance and the grade for each (I didnt list the skill because it was irrelevant)
Which prospect should be rated higher than the other? Because I seen a different result in the new tool than I did in the old one and I have opinions.
Code:Aiken Shepherd High - A High - A High - A High - A High - B High - B Med - A Med - B Med - A Med - B Med - B Med - B Low - B Low - A Low - C Low - B Low - F Low - C

Re: JRT2006's Madden Scouting Tool
Do you think I'm justified to start a new thread for the new tool?
Pics and all questions related can go in there? Starting to build the Roster/Team Management portion of the tool and I'm looking for a ton of input from usersComment

Re: JRT2006's Madden Scouting Tool
My vote is a new thread
should Aiken by higher, the lower imp active rating differential looks like it should make least difference, the mid term advantages counting for more? Especially if those lower attribs are cheap to buy with xp
With that in mind is there any benefit in considering how easy it is to gain attributes in the weightings or does that over complicate thingsLast edited by ColC; 05-10-2015, 03:40 AM.Comment

Re: JRT2006's Madden Scouting Tool
How easy it is to gain attitudes doesn't play any part of the formula, but that's an interesting bring up and something I think should be looked into.
Although, the interface of the tool allows the user to select any attribute he wishes for the position and place the importance of that attribute as he pleases. So if the user wishes to scout an attribute and base the importance of the attribute on the easiness/difficulty of improving it, he can do so.
As far as the Aiken/Shepherd debate, I think it should be a very close race between the two, but I think Aiken should be rated higher by a fraction and i think with the new algorithm it places him one spot above Shepherd by something in the range of .6 points.
Also, I think a new thread should be created, and will do so, to keep any new details/questions about the new tool from getting lost in the old, because I'm already looking for input from the users on the new portion of the tool, Roster ManagementComment

Re: JRT2006's Madden Scouting Tool
Yeah I vote on a new thread for the new tool.
I agree that Aiken should be rated higher but it is very tight and you could argue for both. But I think being rated higher in higher ranked attributes should just outweigh the change of one low F to a C and the change in medium so it sounds like you have it spot on.
A lot is down to what attributes the user selects and how they are ranked which is why expanding to include the costs of xp to upgrade would be pointless and likely hard to get right for each position to add as you can already rank the high cost ones high if you want and it does it's job. It is a good point and does go back to the Aiken/Shepherd debate and would affect who wins by how you rank the attributes. The aim is to find best fit not best player and how they were originally ranked I would say Aiken should be ranked higher. It goes to shows how important the ranking is and it is very much in the user control how the tool works for them.Comment

Re: JRT2006's Madden Scouting Tool
Exactly.
I'm a firm believer that overall rating should be gone and players should be valued on scheme fit.
You're spot on that the tool is supposed to locate best fit not best player, unfortunately with the low limited scouting points you can't scout more attributes. With 9 skills per player, I was able to scout 72. But it would be nice to scout each attribute that is specific to the position and be able to fill a much larger big board.
I try to divide my players by round to make sure I have a decent selection to choose from in each.
I'll be working on the new thread today, I wasn't sure if it was worth posting because the tool is for an unreleased ver. of Madden, but considering that it's built off 2015 and will be updated to fit 2016, users could use it for 15 if it's completed in time.Comment

Re: JRT2006's Madden Scouting Tool
What i have been doing when scouting is only scout the attributes that are specified by the player type in the schemes tab. So i have Balanced for my running back, so i only scout speed, agility, and acceleration. Doing it this way I'm able to scout every player available that fits my scheme and player types, with some points left over to scout players that don't fit my scheme but fit my player types.Comment

Re: JRT2006's Madden Scouting Tool
I do the same, but I scout a little extra. I usually set the skills specified by the scheme as my "High Value" skills in the tool.
I cant recall the amount of scouting points I usually start with, but scouting 9 skills per player I average about 72 players scouted total.
I may drop the amount down to 6 though to get a few more players.
How do your drafts usually turn out with your approach?Comment

Re: JRT2006's Madden Scouting Tool
Hey, sorry was off the grid for the weekend and just saw this. The Value Sheet that I referred to was more for the current roster rather than the prospects. Kinda like the main sheet from the Roster Evaluation tool in the first post. This was helpful for me specifically when I was looking at cutting players. It made me hang onto a few guys that I might have otherwise dropped because they fit well with my scheme. Also encouraged me to put a couple guys on the trade block that didn't fit the scheme as well but would give me a pretty big cap penalty if I just released them outright.PSN: JWGoNDComment

LOL...I wondered about that when you told the guy a few pages back that you didn't have a roster evaluation tool. Too many good irons in the fire, eh?PSN: JWGoNDComment

Re: JRT2006's Madden Scouting Tool
So, how was the roster management tool. Did it work as intended, curious because I just implemented it and the way it evaluates into the new tool. Ran a test, and other then not being able to get the values to avg out with some damn decimal points, it works fineComment
