Yeah - If the Draft Champions game between AJ and Gribs (hahaha) didn't show everyone Aggressive Catch isn't overpowered, then I'm not sure what to tell you.

Rookie WR for Cleveland, 70 ovr with 79 spec catch but has ALL the traits enabled to start with

all CPU controlled catches, I just throw the high point.

Keep in mind in ALL my videos user accuracy and catching are at 40
In this video I'd like to see you playing with default sliders, have the routes go deeper (so that the CB turns his hips and has to run) and also user catch it with aggressive catch.

Personally, I don't like what I've seen from Aggressive Catch so far. Granted I haven't seen 100 videos of it, but from what I've seen, it's very slanted towards WR's winning the ball this year.

It's been debunked with a couple of videos in this thread.

5 minute quarters, 7 pass breakups by Simfballcritic.

If it's a bit over powered on default, sliders will help. There isn't a sports game I've owned played with default sliders out of the box.

        So far, so good.

Well I only play H2H online, so sliders aren't an option for me. Perhaps it's just been the videos I've watched, but so far, when you make the CB turn his hips and run down the field then user aggressive catch, you win almost every single one of those passes, which is unfortunate.

Couple that with the safety issue I posted in the other thread and it could end up being a problem when people just bomb it deep to Graham, Evans, V. Jackson, or other tall/elite WR's.

That's true and a good point, I don't touch online.

Try to find Simfballcritics video in the last page or two in here, 7 pass breakups in 5 minute quarters.

Re: Madden 16: Is the new Aggressive Catch overpowered?

Yeah I'm a rare breed that never touches MUT, CFM or anything else. I just wanna use my Ravens and beat the hell outta people online lol

Okay so watching the video, here's my thoughts:

First pass breakup is a GREAT animation. Can't argue with that. Crossing route and the CB jumps to break up the pass from behind the WR. Love it.

The deep out route to Vjax at around the 2:00 mark looks a little wonky. CB just kind of froze and didn't trigger any play on the ball. I hate that.

OMG, the safety play by Michael Griffin at 5:30 is horrible....WTF was that?

-- so through halftime 2 pass breakups so far and none of them on 9 routes w/ aggressive catch --

A couple more good pass breakups on crossing routes, but that's not what I wanna see. Start of the 4th quarter...

9:17 is the first example of anyone even trying a 9 route and the guy aggressive catches it and makes it. I'll chalk this play up to poor defensive user though because the guy (controlling the defender) never turned and squared to try to jump for the ball.

                  --------------------------

Overall ---> I thought there were some really nice animations on crossing routes in terms of pass breakups. A few horrible defensive animations in regards to playing the football. No examples of what I wanted to see from 9 routes with aggressive catch.

Question for people who have played the game:

Instead of in previous maddens where you would hold Y to catch the ball, in this madden when the ball is coming to the user receiver you hold the button in which type of catch you want to use i.e. x,a, and y?

Correct. Whatever you select is what the wr will try. If you hit nothing it will trigger based on wr type

i havent found it to be overpowered. seems only the elite receivers can pull it off sometimes. i think its really balanced so far in my opinion.

After playing for most of today, aggressive catching with a tall WR is the most game breaking thing EA has ever added to Madden.

On default h2h settings, at least.

I'm hoping sliders can fix it, or this year is a wash. It's really, really bad.

Skip to 25 minutes to watch it be abused on default Draft Champions settings.

Skip to 52 to watch it be abused on default H2H settings.

One thing Rex made clear in the stream today is that their Dev team is more than happy to make tuning adjustments if they get concrete data showing aggressive catch being OP.

                              Keep that in mind.

With that being said, I'd like to be 100% clear that I'm not on either side of this debate. Haven't played the game yet.

Just reminding everyone that the game will be tuned throughout the season. I'm hoping it is to the extent that is needed.

Catching set to 0, CPU pass defense set to 100, running streak patterns with Calvin Johnson all game, 6/18 257 yards 1 TD on aggressive catches on "catchable" balls (excludes tipped passes at line, hit as thrown, completely inaccurate passes).
