Re: Madden 16 Teach me how to...

So, after a conversation with EA Community Manager AJ, Pasta Padre of PastaPadre.com and Marc Price of the PostGamePodcast I can say for sure that this is how the new passing mechanics work:

    L1/LB - High Point Throw
This is the "High Throw" mechanic. This will aim your throw above the receiver. It has NOTHING to do with Ball Trajectory or Arc (You can throw a Bullet, Touch or Lob pass using L1). It is also less accurate than a normal pass. You will get an on screen prompt for a High throw.

    L2/LT - Low Point Throw
This is will cause you to attempt to throw the ball to the lower half of your receiver. Again - NOTHING to so with Trajectory or Arc. It is less accurate than a normal pass. You will get an on screen prompt for a Low throw.

Ball Trajectory is controlled by the passing button

This means whatever button you use to throw to the receiver is what controls trajectory. Hold the button for Bullet, tap the button for Lob, or double-tap/medium hold (EITHER works) for a Touch pass. You will get an on screen prompt for all three throw types.

The Left Stick controls lead/behind throws

So whichever way you are pushing the L Stick ONCE THE THROW ANIMATION BEGINS is where you will throw the ball on the field in relation to the WR. If the WR is running a Go route (straight down the field) - Push up and you get a ball down the field, left goes to the receiver's left, right to the receiver's right, and back to throw behind the receiver. This will change as the receiver changes direction). There is no on screen prompt for throw leads.

Hope this helps all. This mechanic is confirmed by EA via AJ on Twitter.

Penalties are tuned differently in different game modes.

Online H2H, MUT, and Draft Champions are tuned to have barely any 'random' penalties (penalties not caused by a user)

Play Now and CFM are tuned to have penalties (and both modes are tuned the same, so you can test penalty sliders in either mode and should have the same results).

This was confirmed by Clint Oldenburg (Madden Gameplay Dev) via Twitter.

I love the challenge, but defense is loose as water.
You want your DBs to play underneath the WR if your getting spammed with curls, it's in the pre snap audibles, press Y or Triangle then flick the right stick down. You can also predict a passing play.

String running back outside and use sideline as another defender.

              I'll upload a video

A guy I played online ran it nearly every play and there was nothing I could do. Even if I defend it well he would get 3 years a pop including fourth down

If I came out in something crazy like goal line he just audibles. Seems like in user games there's a certain formation that has a quick toss that's really hard to stop

I have not come across that yet, I suppose I would run a cover two and show blitz. Whenever I run it I get stuffed.

If he's being THAT predictable run commit left/right might help. He's likely to run the toss to the side where he has more field to work with, so if you guess right at least you'll put that idea in his head. He can't anticipate the commit (nothing tips it off) so he isn't likely to audible out of it. Obviously if you guess wrong it's probably a TD, but random online (which I'm assuming this is) is full of risk/reward scenarios like that.

Re: Madden 16 Teach Me How/Information Thread

I would like your thoughts on play calling:

Hypothetically speaking; lets say a 10 play, 80 yard drive:

*On this drive would an offensive coordinator stick with one formation for a few plays and then adjust personal for another formation?

*Is it actually realistic to go from I-Form Twin to an All Empty on the next play, and then to Pistol Ace on the next play?

                    Thanks

For me I shadow the end out or user the OLB who is meant to cover said RB; when the screen is thrown I play the receiver or go for a conservative tackle.

On top of what Sausage said, man coverage, in general, seems to stop screen pretty well this year

How does the play ball/play man mechanic work on defense? I understand on offense it is not necessary to switch to the receiver to trigger catch types. Is it necessary on defense? How about the swat button? Does it work? How well and do you have to user swat to get it to trigger?

It is necessary to switch on defense unless you are the defender closest to the targeted WR already

I play strict no switch/no input both sides of the ball and have not had any issues. Sometimes my DB goes for a pick when they should play man but that happens to the CPU dbs all the time too so its fair to me

Haven't played madden in a few years. I can't pass for the life of me. I am on all pro and may have to switch to rookie. I am having a hard time reading my wr and I tend to throw picks. I just lost to the pats as the fins 16-0 with tannehill throwing 3 picks. I may have to go to practice.
