In cfm it doesn't give you the option to switch to a custom playbook. It just shows the stock ones. That's the bad news but the good news is because of this you can still do formation subs and they stick with the custom book when doing this workaround.

Swagger- I just had an incredible overtime game with Arizona and I was the Seahawks. I was down 20-10 in the 4th and tied it up. But I had a gem with Olmert like you were talking bout. I started playing hard flats as he dumped off to Johnson out of backfield over and over. Then he started throwing the ball away and was 21-44 passing. Mind you I didn't adjust his aggressive b4 the game.

So this could be 1 of 2 things...

1- the aggressive style needs to be added to all qb's?

2- could be a slider thing as coverage is too good possibly so guys are not open he thinks so chooses dump down or throws oob?

I started with arizona default and adjusted stuff. I saved the playbook as "Arizona". I started existing CFM and was able to add it to the team I was controlling. Under team specific defensive pb it said: "Arizona". I went in-game and the defensive plays as I edited the defensive pb appeared to be there.

Am I wrong here ? Can one of you that is smarter try this out ?

And what is a custom book ?

Also, if I just create on 3-4 and one 4-3 from an existing teams pb - what 3-4 team and 4-3 should I choose to base the new, edited defensive pb after ?

As long as you used your teams playbook as a base or for example let's say your the redskins but use the Chargers playbook as your base you can still switch it to the Chargers. Either way your good. The new formations you added will not show up. Just the formations from the base playbook you started your custom with. The subs hold up into game on those plays but again not the new formations or plays you might have added.

Finally got it down after doing some tinkering... The crashing was caused by having too many plays in the game plan...

Copying vans idea and I've so far done the colts and Titans because they're on the lions schedule... Gonna tackle those teams first then gonna try to get the rest of the league down...

First I had to do was was condense each teams playbook down to about 250 plays... Second I assigned every play in the playbook to all situations 1st/2nd/3rd down... Third I assigned every single play in the playbook a half star... Fourth I removed all four vertical plays from the gameplan...

So far the results have been phenomenal because you never know what the cpu is doing because they can run any play at any time out of every formation!!

Well this sucks.....looks like I wont be able to use the playbooks again this year.

Here is the problem:

The problem is that the minute you switch from a coach to a player...all of the formation subs reset.

So I'm forced to choose between using formation subs (which is needed in order to get backup RBs carries because EA cant figure out how to make autosubs work)

or

Playbooks (which are needed to make the CPU play realistically).

I'm gonna choose formation subs because this year the CPU does a decent job of calling plays in my experience.

This was the same qualm I was in and I had a strong feeling formation subs would reset when changing characters but hadn't tested it yet. That really stinks.

I wish they'd figure out a way for customs to make it into CFM whether it be by having to load them in before you started the CFM or something. If they could just be set from the schemes menu and stick it would be so much easier. Sucks how poorly designed CFM is.

I've decided to go with the playbooks over 32-team control just because the last few years it's been so time consuming because I want to do everything. From my experience with 17 though some teams do playcall pretty good. I played the Hawks yesterday and they called a great game but I just played the a Ravens a little bit ago and they must have called spacing and verticals for 80% of their pass plays and it was horrible.

Edit: If formation subs against the team you're playing is all that matters for you (and not 32-team roster management), couldn't you theoretically just create a character for playbooks and then assign their formation subs each week so you can do both? Or can you not set team formation subs as a player in CFM?

Does anybody have this problem too? This problem is about custom playbooks for the User.

I am in the main menu. I add some plays to Raiders defensive playbook. I'm not adding any new formations or anything, just couple of plays to Nickel - Normal formation to try out custom playbooks in the franchise.Then I will save my playbook.

Then I'll start a franchise, go to Formation Subs, and I will see Nickel - Normal, and make changes that I like. Then i'll go to game or practice and when I am choosing my Nickel formation and Normal set, I don't see it. Playbook has entirely different Sets in Nickel formation inside the game that it had in the main menu or in Formation Subs in Franchise. In the game the Sets has been changes to Nickel - Even 2-4-6 or something.

Also for example 4-3 formations has disappeared, even though it is in Del Rios defensive playbook before I start a game or practice in Franchise Mode.

This is getting so frustrating . What do I do wrong here?

EDIT: I tested them in the Play Now, and Custom playbook worked. There was those plays that I added.

I hope everyone is enjoying the game. I'll be joining into the playbook madness. I consider myself pretty hip to the current league and trends of play calls. I'm a Pro football focus junkie, I like analysis and analytics like that. I play semi professional football and read NFL play books

I operate on the PS4 system, trying to find an easy way to load play books into CFM but looks as many of us are having trouble.

I'll piggy back on swagger and say Aggressive "force passes" trait makes for far better CPU QB, but I don't want to global edit everyone.

Shot plays eliminate check downs and actually are very big addition to madden. I think every shot play should be in playbook game plans

I don't know if it's because I switched to generic playbooks or what but my CLE team looks a lot better despite being 3-9.

This is only supposed to be a temp CFM until EA gives us week 1 rosters but I'm getting attached...

I would play with qb edits 1st, hopefully the 1st patch includes this and qb scramble is fixed.
I just wouldn't want to mess up how good the defenses are doing by messing with sliders.

Nice! Glad to have ya on board! Van has updated the OP with a list of all playbooks on PS4 and Xbox. So far, the Rams Offense and a Balanced Attack offense have been done.

I know Scott wants a Cowboys playbook. I'm working on a Vertical Attack playbook now.

Nope. You cant assign formation subs as a player. So the minute you switch to a player character, the subs reset and there is no way to reinput them before you play the game.

The same thing happened with Depth Chart changes last year. The minute you switch to a player, the CPU takes over and resets any changes you made.
