I am leaning towards a no.

After last years debacle with the patches, broken gameplay, multitude of tuners and adjustments, I only felt like I had a complete Madden 17 for maybe the last 6 months. I really enjoyed it for those six months.

I'm just not up for another round of patches, tuners, and slider sets. Uninstalling and going back to day one builds. Endless adjustments.

I love football. I want to love Madden. But I do not like the way the defense plays on 18 in offline CFM against the CPU. It's garbage. The zones are loose. There is very little pass rush (I'm running with the Texans with Mercilus at RE, Watt at DT, and Clowney at RE, 91 99 and 91 at their positions, and I user Watt). Man coverage is useless. I beat the Pats 50-44 today. 94 total points. The Texans had the number 1 D last year, and the Pats are no slouch. Playing All Pro SIM. That should be an arcade score. Legacy issues remain. Nothing has changed.

I like the new commentary and the frostbite engines, but this is not a finished product. I guess I am tired of being a beta tester for EA. When they put out a complete product, I will buy again.

Definitely, loving the game so far and can't wait to have unlimited time with it. Bought it for both Xbox One and PS4 Pro.

Friends on both system for a game I play all year. I have only ever bought Madden and Diablo on multiple systems because it is sort of redundant. However with the Best Buy trade in program I'm only paying $13 for Madden on the Xbox so..

After watching Mill's franchise stream I'm happy with my purchase and already have it preloaded. I know they will fix most of the gameplay stuff with some patches. I just hope when they do it doesn't mess other stuff up.

Well, there are things like actual linemen injuries, coaching adjustments, and gameplay improvements to consider.

To each his own mate, if you like it, buy it and I hope you enjoy.

Not buying. This is the first time since 2004 that I will not be buying Madden NFL. I'm tired of this every year and no longer have optimism that the gameplay will ever surpass the PS2 version of the game or that other football game from 2004.

I'll buy but people have great points on why their not buying which I actually 100% agree with. But I can't play madden 17 for another year or play no football game at all.


Edit:I will try a new franchise in madden 17 and see how that goes

For those that have played it, is it decent upgrade over 17? This will be my first PS4 Madden so I'm coming from Madden 16 on PS3. I'm getting pretty mixed reviews so far. I'm mostly looking to play offline. Not enough time for online right now.

If 18 is better and a patch will improve it even more, then maybe I'll just get it. I can get 17 cheap so I had to ask.

Day 1 buy for me. Madden 17 was my first Madden purchase in 8 years, so the game is still pretty fresh to me. I like to think that once the patch comes to hopefully tighten things up more defensively, we may have a very solid playing game. Really looking forward to the 25th.

I preordered mine before EA Access so...



But I am about 9 hours through my EA Access time and it would have been a Day 1 buy for me. The updated commentary, new lighting (which looks fantastic at times) and the updates in gameplay have me very excited to play the full game again next week. I also really enjoyed the little bit of Longshot that I played, it will be a nice distraction while I am waiting for rosters, sliders, patches etc to drop.

Maybe he has friends that have both consoles and he is in leagues on both consoles. I have done that with other games in the past specifically for the online aspect.

Honestly I wasn't going to of buy this game being that Ive been disappointed far too many times....

After playing not only will I buy it Ill go get it early this weekend..
Graphics are really good, gameplay is the best its ever been.

I only play online H2H so its perfect for me except two things...
Id still love to have the choice to select the weather and I wish they would bump up the quarters back up to 6 minutes and it would be perfect....

Oh one more thing Id love. I wish we could save our depth charts instead of redoing it overtime I log on... If you all looked at my previous messages on here Ive been super critical of EA but I must say this will be my favorite Madden of all time... Trust me Im hard to please...
