Re: What's your Madden 22 hype level?

Most excited since the first Madden launching on X360. It’s been downhill since then for me.

Franchise this year may not have as many bells and whistles as it did in the PS2 days but it may have a better backbone. I really like what they’re doing and looking forward to the future. I will not even bother playing until the scouting system is introduced. I can not tolerate another year of the old lame system they have now. And I also have no interest at in restarting my franchise.

As far as gameplay, they may not be doing it the way I would like them to but all I ask for is ratings and schemes to matter and for it to look believable. I’d much prefer physics based system but for whatever reason what I saw in the beta was enough of an improvement over last gen that I could settle with what they’re giving me. Them working on coverage, AI logic and freeing up some of the canned animations is big deal for me.

The balancing will be key for both franchise and gameplay. Since I’m not purchasing until September, I’ll be able to see if they stick the landing this year before dropping time and money.

I didn't get in the Beta, but I am at a 3 out of 10 on hype (since I haven't played it and am skeptical).

5/10. I won't consider buying until the scouting update is released and the game is on sale.

I preordered but I wish we had a date for scouting.

Won't buy. I play on PC and I don't have a NG console to play the better version of the game. If they update the PC version to the NG version I'll buy it right away.

Most hyped I’ve been in a while, I’d say a 5/10. Won’t purchase until I can’t get it for 20-30 bucks and I’ve seen more of the “live service” updates. If the new scouting system is just scouts giving us the same information as the old scouting system it will feel hollow to me.

The thing that’s keeping my hype down is the new coaching system. It’s cool they added coordinators but it’s still kinda haphazardly done. Can’t start a coaching career as a coordinator and work your way up, there’s zero coaching carousel, it’s basically just another screen with rpg style stat boosts. Hopefully next year they get something more organic implemented.

Gameplay wise the best madden I’ve played in a long time but just like every other year when the shine wears off and you see the same animations play out time and time again it gets old.

Outside of the fact that the user can't be a coordinator and work their way up, what else is missing from the coaching staffs that a carousel would provide?

                Coaches get fired.

                Coaches get hired.

Coordinators get poached to become head coaches.

Fired head coaches get other head coaching jobs, go back to being coordinators, or sit in the pool for future openings.

                Fired coordinators do the same.

I've seen people say this a few times, but I'm not sure what it is that I'm missing that makes this feature lacking compared to a carousel.

Outside of the user being able to be a non-HC role this system does every single thing the carousel did in NCAA, but it does it better since the user actually has full control over who is hired to their staffs instead of the RNG mechanic in NCAA where your staff was randomly assigned to you.

Definitely 10/10. Been waiting for the full return of a great Madden game for OVER a decade! I could see the writing on the wall in next gen 21, and 22 is about to fully bring it back to the PS2 era greatness. On top of that, with NCAA on the way back in (I’m anticipating with the draft classes as well), 2k dropping , AND ESBC boxing on the horizon, it’s about to be a great time for sports game heads, what a time to be alive !!!!🤩

The NCAA 14 carousel has so many issues. I’m not sure why people think THAT is the coaching carousel when bringing that up. It’s cool but was brand new and needed polishing in future iterations.

Everything you mentioned is in and what coaching changes look like. Unfortunately just another post who is quick to jump to words without trying it or reading anything posted. All the things in your post have been in the blogs.

So how excited is everyone else for this year's Madden?

I'm not Knocking your excitement but as a Madden gamer since the early 90's and everything I learned about EA after 2006 is a big wait and see approach. So I always go by their history

Those blogs and big words they use don't ever match up with gameplay side of things. Remember talk is cheap show me the full product.

EA can have podcast, blogs, community game changer, come knock on your door give you flyers and tell you the sky is red until you blue in the face I'm not moving untill the games comes out and the honeymoon is over and see how everyone is still excited or not
But do you sir I'm glad you happy I wish I could say the same for me

EA is like a parent getting you excited on Christmas with huge box present to open up and only to find out it was only clothes and no toys

I guess we just played different versions of the beta bc all I saw from coaching staffs were hirings and firings.

Sure I can fire my head coach but I cannot poach an offense coordinator from another team to become my next head coach.

If I have the top ranked defense for 3 years in a row I should have to worry about other teams wanting to promote my defensive coordinator to head coach of their team.

I'm extremely excited. For the Madden 21 release, it was just like another day (although i thoroughly enjoyed the game) but, yeah i'm pretty impressed at how this one is looking on paper. can't wait to start playing a new CFM.

EA stated that the CPU can steal your coordinators away to become their HC. They said you can steal CPU coordinators to become your HC as well.
