    ANY Rookies out there?
If you are still learning how to play Madden, then honestly I would avoid touching the sliders literally at all. Focus on getting your head wrapped around the game, its mechanics, and football strategy first before you worry about fine-tuning the level of challenge.

Speaking as someone who started off on Rookie difficulty way back in Madden 2001. We all started somewhere.

Were the defaults all 50/100? USER, CPU, PENALTIES, ETC?

I just played game one in my new franchise. Lions V Eagles.

10 min qtr, no clock run off.
        all pro
INT grounding & ballhawk turned off
        SLIDERS default everything
except for penalties (roughing passer @ default) set at 75 and injuries set to 25. literally everything else untouched

        I won 20-3

the score was 9-nil at HT and 9-3 heading into the 4th qtr.

They were marching up the field and Hurts and Saunders were slashing me on the ground, but nothing was happening in the air. everything was batted down, QB pressure all game long and once i maxed momentum, their QB1 couldn't find any recievers (more proof momentum is overdone and needs to be wound back. imo)

match winning moment came half way through the 4th when my MLB caused a fumble on saunders, it spilled out to Hughes my CB1 and he went 65 yards for the fumble recovery in the only TD of the game.

I drafted Malik Willis and he threw for 13-27 127 yards no TD or INT and ran for 68 yards.

Hurts threw 217 yards (mostly in garbage time when i went to Dime and qtr prevent mode) 0 TD and 1 INT

the game was won in the trenches they had 5 sacks i had 4, 1FF and 1 TD

overall it was a super enjoyable game. best game i've played in fact.

prior to this i was in Play Now and super happy with the 6 games on default sliders

lots of variation. games won in the air and throwing for 300+ yards and games where i couldn't even crack 150 yards.

there bare bones of this game are the best madden to date, imo. just needs some finessing and tuning from EA with a patch to make it all sing

Over the years it sounds like All Pro is the difficulty in which the players are truest to their ratings, but Madden gives such large bonuses to users that for some people it ends up being way to easy. Also over the years in order to get the CPU to use as much of its plays and strategies as possible you had to play All Madden.

          :sigh:

I am, however, very happy All Pro appears to be working right now.
I don't think it is due to users getting bonuses. Think it is more due to the camera angle and the limited AI.

Those two things make it so that if you put the user and AI on equal footing the user has an edge.

All-Madden balances this by giving AI boosts

Re: Game playing better on default

7 games into the franchise with the Lions ... and default sliders are terrible. lol

                the defence is too overpowered.

i beat the Vikings 70-10 4 garbage TD's ... 2 pick 6's, a scoop and run from their 15 yard line and a punt return.

then against the seahawks they dominated me as i threw for 117 yards, 4INTS, 2 lost fumbles, but i still won 27-23 because of another scoop and run and 2 more pick 6's.

the lions lead sacks by more than double the next team
lead in rushing yards allowed by more than double.

so i need to get back to dumbing down my user defense and stiffening up the CPU rush and pass protect.

the game needs to be patched, bcos the flow of the game is excellent on default and there's so many great moments & animations you start to not see once you start slider abuse. lol

Nope. Played the first half vs SF before I shut it off. Trey Lance threw a pick and fumbled 4 times. 3 lost. Of course since it’s not MUT they won’t acknowledge any issues. Frustrating.

That's why I Sim most of my games. I play weeks 3 8 13 and 18. Sim the others so I don't dominate the league unless I have a team capable. In the playoffs I play the moments and only play them if the game is tied or I am behind. I don't win the super bowl every year and can enjoy the game for what it is instead of constantly wishing it was something different.
