Looks like more shoes in than originally reported but many are glitched. It shows a few extra Nikes and Jordan’s but I wish we could see them.

So franchise is still broken, both online and offline? That’s the only reason for me to purchase the game so as soon as that issue is fixed, I will be buying

Throwing styles are absolutely there like they should be, now. I use slinger 2, and it's as Patrick Mahomes crazy sidearm at times as you would want it to be. I'm actually going to change, though. I prefer a quick, high release like Drew Brees had.

Played one game. Saw 1 interception a numerous passes that hit defender hands, but were not caught. Great progress. Do we know if the WR catch slider works, though?

Once they update the Live Start I'll probably be good to go with a franchise finally.


It is one game, but I didn't see a single dumb pass nor any unrealistic jumped passes by either side. The one interception I threw and it was my own fault trying to throw a ball away, but obviously didn't throw it far enough.

NB It might be worth other people trying to replicate the 32 team control "fix/workaround".

I'd hate people to start long term franchises using 32 team control, coach firing OFF and no custom draft classes only to find another heartbreaking bug further down the line....

As I am on the PS5 it really would be good if an XBOX user could try the same experiment. It takes less than an hour.

Honestly, if it requires no custom draft classes, and to turn off coach firing...I am ok with this.

I'm firing up an online chise with coach firing off and will not be using custom classes. Just gonna wing it.

Confirming what others have said, the long-term Franchise corruption seems to stem from lack of coaches. The game doesn't generate new ones, and eventually runs out of usuable coaches and crashes around the 8-10 year mark.


Turning off coach firing isn't ideal, but my (admittedly small) testing seems to show it working without having to control any other teams.

What about with custom draft classes?

Dang. The style selection in the player editor is still janky and doesn't really show you what you are truly getting, so it's going to be a lot of trial and error finding what you want. Once playing or on the practice field, though, it's clear that you have chosen a different style.

I can confirm the franchise bug is still present. The game will let you play multiple seasons. But the game will then crash at some point in the future after you have completed a played game.



There appear to be two triggers

1. Not enough league coaches after a period of time.

2. Custom draft files.



Here are my controlled experiments I ran today after the patch.



1. 32 team control and Coach Firing OFF. I advanced the game by 10 seasons and played the superbowl. Game was fine and allowed me to carry on. Although it's not very immersive to see the same 32 coaches there after a decade and defeats the purpose of coach firing etc.



2. 32 team control and Coach Firing ON. I advanced the game by 10 seasons and could not even play the SB. All 32 coaches had been fired and the moment I went to select one to retire him, the game crashed.



3. 32 team control and Coach Firing OFF and I used a custom draft file from the community for the 2023 draft. I advanced the game by 10 seasons. Played the SB to the end. Finished the game. Game immediately crashed. It gave the chance to submit a bug report which I did. I named you EA Kent in the description. My PS profile name is Joneseythecat044. I submitted the error log about 10 minutes ago - 2335 approx UK time, which is 1835 Florida time.



You and your devs should be able to recreate this problem fairly easily. Just run the same controlled experiments I did.



Please fix this as soon as possible. It is not fair to offer players the chance to play multiple seasons and then watch as the game crashes and they loose a franchise they have been working on for ages.

Does anyone know if this plagues franchise that aren't 32-team control? Or if this affects both online and offline franchises? I assume it does, but wasn't sure. If there's a safe way to start a new franchise post-patch, I just want to know before starting.

No disrespect but how many people do you think get through more than 1 year of franchise? I hope it gets fixed but there are a lot of high priority issues.

Um, a crap ton. 15+ people in the online franchise I'm in and all of us live in the same town. I follow multiple YouTubers who do this and have several subscribers. Multiple year franchise is literally the only reason to play the game for a lot of people.

USER WRs still aren't attacking the ball on their own. Threw it deep 3 times. 3 times intercepted on 1 on 1 coverage because the WR wouldn't jump for the ball but the DB did. Pressing the WRs defensively is still a no go. Maybe next year they will fix that.

Started a new online franchise, same problems. Constantly getting disconnected only to return and find all my progress has not been saved.

For all the people banking on this update to save their beloved franchise mode, I hate to break it to you but you're only setting yourself up for disappointment and a waste of your time.

No custom draft classes, coach firing set to OFF, doesn't matter, still same issues for me on PS5

I'm on PS4, the update seems really good. All I really do is make the 2001 NFL rosters and watch cpu vs cpu in exhibition mode so this is more my impressions from cpu vs cpu than anything else. I play a game once a week or so but usually just enjoy watching it like it's real life when I'm working on something in the basement.

The pass coverage seems a lot more realistic. QBs are completing 50-65% of their passes compared to before which was like 60-80%. Huge change. I edited QBs a lot (low throw under pressure, bad traits, etc) to get realistic 2001 style stats. Now, I think I may have to improve some of the QBs. Despite more incompletions, the INT's haven't gone up.

First game was the Steelers over the Browns 24-7. Kordell completed 63%, under 200 yards, the bus had 100 yards on the ground. Steelers defense held the Browns to 223 yards. Fumbles are still kinda odd, QBs fumbling multiple times but RBs not fumbling much.

Second game was Miami over the Jets 20-9. Jets out gained Dolphins by around 75 yards. One Testaverde pick in the end zone, and the Dolphins D bending but not breaking was the big difference.

I'm absolutely loving the way the games are going. I set everything up for low scoring, defensive games but it wasn't until this past update that I could consistently get what I want. The catching slider is very reactive too. Seems like (so far) the sliders are more effective than they've been. With it playing like this I may actually start playing games often, now that it seems I can get defensive battles consistently.
