Well, I've not visited the Madden forums much lately (Baseball season is nearing full swing and the season + The Show have my attention sapped...lol) so it was good to have a thread like this to "catch up" on what's going on.

Good info adem, and thanks for the thread.

To Ian and crew: Looking good! I LOVED what I read about QB's and franchise stats, fixes, etc. I noticed some of my (and I'm sure other's as well) requests made it in. Good stuff.

Hmmmm, get ready for the hate mail Ian. Taking away the ring builder is probably gonna upset 99% of the fan base here on OS. :wink:

Just as a general guideline Adem, what sort of feedback or posts do you want in this thread. Do you want to keep it as clean as possible? Do you secretly want me to delete this post???

I personally hate the ring builder, it isn't really anything at all. You just build points and can't customize the rings that much. The old Madden cards were sick because you unlocked some of the cards by setting milestones and stuff. I think they should keep better stats for games and separate them out better (franchise, online, play now). Also, they should keep your records of each game and have certain trophies or cards for each milestone. Also, they need to add in a VIP system to record tendencies and so that the CPU actually adapts to you.

Yeah, I'm a "nothing but football... real football" guy, but I sorta miss the Madden cards. Those were kinda cool. It was a nice side-activity to try to get all the cards.

I like what Im hearing. But wasnt Madden 06',07',08',09' supposed to be the simmest and bestest football games ever made too?


I really hope this game delivers. Between what 2K and EA have done over the last 5 years Im done believing hype.

I can respect and understand that. But what stands out this time around is they are actually ADMITTING the problems of years past and SHOWING what they're doing to make them different. Plus they're giving us video to show the difference.

Its hard to get companies to ADMIT that certain things about their sports game is "ugly" in other words.

So I for one am hyped.

I get no inside information. All of the info I post in here comes after it's been officially released to the community. I'm not a representative of EA sports and my efforts are not endorsed by EA Sports and do not represent the opinions of EA Sports, their employees or their brother's dog's roommate's wives' cousin... blahblahblabblabfineprintblahblahblah..

The purpose of this thread is to consolidate information, but I get it by scouring the forums for quotes from the dev team.

But seriously folks, Phil has stated that there may not be a blog tomorrow. Instead, we'll get a screen shot on Peter Moore's blog that will, apparently, reveal 6 new features, which they'll expand on with a blog later in the week.

Our plans for this coming week are still in flux. There is an excellent chance that there will NOT be a blog on Monday, 3/23.

There will be a blog this week but it will likely supplement what we hope is the first Madden screenshot released. Here's the very rough plan, just to keep you all in the loop.

- One day this week (we hope Monday), a Madden screenshot will be released. Likely on Peter's blog.
- Several days later, we'll have another blog that details some of the features in that screenshot.

This will be a graphics blog. No blog on OL/DL interaction as speculated earlier in this thread.

3-18: Per Ian, player stances can now be overridden from their default position entry on a per-play basis. Hense, an outside linebacker can be placed into a 3-point stance in a 3-4 play for hybrid teams such as the Ravens.

3-18: The following teams will be 3-4 teams in Madden 10: Dolphins, Jets, Patriots, Ravens, Steelers, Browns, Chargers, Broncos, Chiefs (More than likely), 49ers, Cardinals, Packers, Cowboys

I'm a chargers fan all day i can't wait to get merriman in there and do damage. Great info and updates man really good work keep it up...

My interpretation of this is that they can do this, not us. What this means is there will be plays within the 3-4 formation in which an outside linebacker gets down in a 3-point stance to rush the passer, rather than the previous "hybrid" formation which just brought the backer to the line of scrimmage, so it looked like a 4-3 in the playbook, but your "end" was in a 2-point stance.

My hope (against all hope) is that we'll have a play editor that allows us to set the player's stance. I played a lot of stand-up defensive end in High School and I'd love to see what I can do with my old 5-3 defense
