Re: 15 Minute quarters/15 sec accelerated clock = SIMULATION HEAVEN
I just finished my first game. 10 minutes with 15 sec accelerated clock. I was thinking that I needed to go to 15 minutes right after the game. (I won 21-3 Bears over Steelers.....Big Ben threw 3 picks to Vasher in the red zone, 1 for a TD).
I was loving it though. I couldn't run the ball against the Steelers D, and the Bears D of old came out!!!!
I'm pumped for NFL season now.Chicago Bears
Oregon State Beavers
Portland Trail Blazers
San Francisco Giants
Chicago Blackhawks
MLS: Portland Timbers
EPL: Liverpool FCComment

Re: 15 Minute quarters/15 sec accelerated clock = SIMULATION HEAVEN
Ah! Took the words right out of my mouth. That's the REAL benefit of the acc clock. The CPU play clock gets run down so they don't snap with 38 seconds left. By the way has anyone, in the history of Madden, EVER seen the CPU get a delay of game?
I don't think even acc clock can fix that.Comment

Re: 15 Minute quarters/15 sec accelerated clock = SIMULATION HEAVEN
I don't really have a reputable source to prove that ST plays don't count, but just about everyone has heard that 120-130 plays is the norm for the NFL, so I just randomly picked these 3 box scores off ESPN (week 1 of last year) to show the offensive play counts vs the play counts including punts/FGs.
Seattle-Buffalo
Box score for the Buffalo Bills vs. Seattle Seahawks NFL game from September 7, 2008 on ESPN. Includes all passing, rushing and receiving stats.
Offensive Plays: 128
Off + ST: 152
TB-NO
Box score for the New Orleans Saints vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers NFL game from September 7, 2008 on ESPN. Includes all passing, rushing and receiving stats.
Offensive Plays: 123
Off + ST: 141
Cin-Bal
Box score for the Baltimore Ravens vs. Cincinnati Bengals NFL game from September 7, 2008 on ESPN. Includes all passing, rushing and receiving stats.
Offensive Plays: 125
Off + ST: 140
I know that's a small sample size, but you can look at any NFL game and it's the same story. 120-130 offensive plays only.Comment

A big thank you to the OP. I don't have the game yet, but I was really wondering what the optimal clock settings would be. Your settings are a great place to start.Comment

Re: 15 Minute quarters/15 sec accelerated clock = SIMULATION HEAVEN
Man ive been testing out different quarter lengths and was wondering what length is good for getting realistic stats and scores. Ive played 15 minute and 12 minute quarters with a 15 second accelerated clock and ive gotten really inflated scores and stats. Like Kurt Warner through for over 450 yards consistently and scores surpassed 30 to 35 points easy. Is this because im not simming it and actually playing the game?? Thoughts and suggestions would be great..Comment

Re: 15 Minute quarters/15 sec accelerated clock = SIMULATION HEAVEN
I have also been using the 15 minute / 15 sec runoff with the acc clock. It is a great feature that has been added.
Dallas 42
San Diego 35
Was not happy with the final score so I may drop the quarter length down to say 12 minutes and see what happens.
I would suggest playing a few "Play Now" games to see what quarter length works best. That is the beauty of it. Everyone has different opinions on what works best for them so certainly give it a try.Comment

Re: 15 Minute quarters/15 sec accelerated clock = SIMULATION HEAVEN
I am getting right at 123-130 plays per game for both teams combined. Almost EXACTLY at the NFL average of 126 for 08'. Games take around 80-85 mins of real time to complete. For all you realist out there, you are going to freaking love it.
Queue haters who play 5 min quarters. **This thread wasn't for you anyway**Comment

Re: 15 Minute quarters/15 sec accelerated clock = SIMULATION HEAVEN
I find it funny that many people view this acc clock as a new thing. I remember using it on 2003 for the PC and then 04 and 05 for the xbox.
Can't remember what the run off was but the consensus was about 12 min qtrs seemed to give the 60-62 offensive snaps per game to give you the most realistic in-game stats.
Madden 09 was the first madden that I had gotten for the 360 and when it didnt have the acc clock, i pretty much quit on the game. Glad to hear that 2010 has even more options for the acc clock with the different run off times.
But is it true that there are no in-game saves.....if so....why was that also removed???/Comment

Sounds great! What is the final score looking like? Cause if it's good, then you damn well better believe I'm playing 15 min quarters!Comment

True, the acc. clock is not new, but the ability to specify run-off time is.Comment
