Re: 15 Minute quarters/15 sec accelerated clock = SIMULATION HEAVEN
That is an issue now because of the QB quick snap. It was an issue with 09 before they patched it. They may do so again. If the Comp is not QB quick snapping, if you let the cutscene after the play, play out, it happens real time. The play clock moves. If you wait until the QB picks it's play and initiates the count down for you to pick yours, time gets wasted. Not a whole lot, but by doing those things will take 15secs off the clock or more.
After the play is picked, watch the cutscene to get to the line. More seconds run off. If the QB quick snap is fixed, he will wait at the line another 5-7secs.
Now I know that some people hate to watch cutscenes and hit the button to skip forward, but the devs put effort into them, I appreciate it and watch them. Makes me feel more like I'm watching a game because the graphics and animations during the cutscenes are much better than the in game ones.
I am not saying that this is perfect, but let's be honest here. If you know how to play Madden, you can hold down the amount of possessions that the comp gets anyway.
you must just be a very patient person, or have a lot of time to get games in, most people dont want to watch cut scenes in a video game, they just want to play, but if thats the way you play then certainly more power to you...
but yeah, this 15 min/15 runoff is probably how i will play for my franchise games...
what kind of stats are you guys getting total yardage and score wise? and are you intentionally holding back to not rack up extra total yards? also what difficulty are you playing on, out of curiosity? Sorry for all the questions, I have just been waiting for acc clock to get implemented in madden!Comment

Re: 15 Minute quarters/15 sec accelerated clock = SIMULATION HEAVEN
I want to play the 15 min quarters with the accelerated clock but my wife wears the pants in our relationship and she will kill me if I play 80-85 minutes for one game (somethnig about watching the baby, playing with the animals, cleaning the house... you guys know the story...lol).
So my question is this.... using accelerated clock, how long can the qrts be in order to finish one game in an hour? If I use acc clock and 15 min quarters can it be done?Roar you Lions roar!Comment

Re: 15 Minute quarters/15 sec accelerated clock = SIMULATION HEAVEN
I am testing for my online franchise so it has been user vs. user games. Also important to note than I am playing sim style and my opponents were as well. This is just off the top of my head but here's a quick rundown of my last two games on 15/15.
Titans 41
Ravens 17
Collins
10-14, 178 yards
Johnson
25 carries, 110 yards
White
7 carries 41 yards
Around 400 yards total offense.
Flacco
22-43, 180 yards
McGahee
24 carries, 78 yards
Packers 45
Bears 10
Rodgers
17-24, 302 yards
Grant
24 carries, 85 yards
Jackson
7 carries, 25 yards
Cutler
22-51, 265 yards, 6 INT's
Forte
9 carries, 22 yards
I was the winner in both games and my opponents got down big early so there was a lot more passing than there might normally be on there end. Overall, stats are almost spot on to NFL averages. I couldn't be more impressed as a realist.Last edited by bgdave39; 08-12-2009, 02:03 PM.Comment

Under Rushing, add all attempts
Under Defense, add all sacks
Under kicking, add all FG attempts
Under Punting, add all punts
The people in these threads that complain about a game taking too long doing this need to analyze things better. The 15 minute quarters is merely cosmetic. Whether you try to acheive realistic stats via 15 minute quarters with acc clock or with 8 minute quarters without it, you are still getting the same number of plays. What this means is, real time is no affected at all since you are still running 120 plays.
Playing with 15 minute quarters + accel clock merely does two things 1.) you get the satisfaction of seeing a full regulation quarter on your box score and 2.) you have less time at the L.O.S. which is more true to real life.
In order to get a realistic flow to the game, realistic possession, you have to have accelerated clock because it creates a realistic percentage of time spent in the huddle. With or without accelerated clock, you can run the ball well and pull off a 15 play, 5 minute drive... however, without accelerated clock, that drive takes up almost an entire quarter and absolutely breaks the back of your opponent to an unrealistic degree.
Acclerated clock makes it so you can play a full 15 minutes and have those sorts of drives and a realistic impact on the outcome of the game. Not cosmetic, absolutely critical.
Without accelerated clock, 1 five minute drive = 63% of the 4th quarter.
With accelerated clock, 1 five minute drive = 33% of the 4th quarter.Last edited by adembroski; 08-12-2009, 02:09 PM.There are two types of people on OS: Those who disagree with me, and those who agree.

No, there's a very important tactical issue you're leaving out.

Re: 15 Minute quarters/15 sec accelerated clock = SIMULATION HEAVEN
I use 14 min with 25 second acc and I get around 120 plays. My stats are coming out pretty good. I tried 15 min with 25 acc and my own team had like 75 plays. Way too many.Comment

You can't study one game and come to this conclusion. There will be games where more plays are run than others. You have to test your settings over the course of at least 3-4 games before reaching a conclusion.Click here to read my dynasty report:

Try it with the run off at 20 or 25. Minor difference, but over the course of 120+ plays 5-10 seconds a play will trim that time. I honestly believe that with 25 second runoff you could get it to right around 60-65 minutes.Moderator

I'm also, assuming that this is at the end of the game, as well. I just haven't noticed it.
BTW, I've been playing 12-20 and getting very realistic stats. Personally 25 wasn't enough time to call audibles, motion players, hot route, etc.My 2K17 Boston Celtics MyLeague

Re: 15 Minute quarters/15 sec accelerated clock = SIMULATION HEAVEN
This is just my opinion so take it for what's it's worth, but if you're not playing 15 min quarters then I don't see why you would even use accelerated clock. The whole point of it to me is to have realistic game clock while cutting down the overall time of the game. If you're doing 12 min quarters, what's the point? Why not just do 7 min quarters and turn accelerated clock off?
Also like someone posted earlier, this is how I am counting plays:
Under Passing, add all attempts
Under Rushing, add all attempts
Under Defense, add all sacks
Under kicking, add all FG attempts
Under Punting, add all puntsComment

Re: 15 Minute quarters/15 sec accelerated clock = SIMULATION HEAVEN
So even with the accelerated clock there's no ending up with whacky stats, like average QBs throwing for 350 yards every game? Just want to be sure before I committ, especially in a chise as I hate to start over after making one.Comment
