Great post. I wish there was more of this than people saying it's stupid and a rip off.

For some people, like yourself, it's not worth it. For others, like me, it's totally worth it. I try to find NCAA and Madden early every year and I end up paying $20 plus retail each to get the game shipped to me by the Thursday/Friday before release. This saves me the trouble of searching plus saves me money in the long run. It also gives me a peace mind knowing I will get the game early no matter what.

I now will try FIFA, NHL and Tiger and may even purchase those games.

Its like the cost of ording a Pizza or something, no biggy. Even if it was only for 2 games I think it would be an ok thing. Personally I think they are doing it to allow you to try all 5 games and possibly buy them that way.

This is free enterprise. Instead of those of you complaining about how big of a rip off it is just let those of us that think its worth it enjoy it as we are the ones spending money on it and clearly you have no interest.

I agree, 90% of the games I play are sports games. $25 isn't even a tank of gas for your car. If I get to try the games I wouldn't normally buy for 3 days, that's 'well worth it for me and it's better than paying $59 and finding out you hate the game. I tried the Fight Night Champion Demo and hated it, that was a game I was seriously considering purchasing. The 3 day "early access" will just allow you to better assess the game and avoid bad purchases as well. So in a way, it could be a money saver and save you from purchasing a game you end up being disappointed with.

But I agree 110%, it's free enterprise, it's business, don't buy it if you don't want it. Simple as that. But don't criticize the people that are heavy sports gamers and do purchase it. Maybe it's wishful thinking, but perhaps these Season Ticket purchases will give the devs a bigger budget to work with and provide a better product each year. Not likely, but maybe.

So ya thats 10am EST on Friday unless I'm not adding something right? Its possible they could be allowing us to download it sooner but have an internal timer set to not allow you to actually play the game until 6pm EST. I wonder also if you have to have a persistance connection to play the game. I wonder if you can disconnect your Xbox from the internet and manually set the time so it thinks its not 6am on August 30th yet when the time would expire and allow you to play it a bit longer I mean my copy wont arrive from Amazon until around 2pm or so , so thats 8 hours I wont be able to play it on the 30th< OMG what will I do!!! lol sarcasm..

Hopefully it releases the same time on Xbox and PS3 unlike the demos. Xbox gets the demos almost 12 hours earlier. It's all stated on the Season Ticket official page, so I would assume it's pretty exact for both consoles. I don't think it's going to release at 10am EST though... that would be 4 full days of trial.

According to the site it is 6pm EST on the 26th until 6am EST on the 30th. I would tend to believe the official site. Maybe it gets released early and the trial is extended a bit late to be generous, who knows. But that's what the official site says.

Doesn't the EA Pass cost $25 ? I'm sorry, if you play a lot of EA games it makes sense, but it's beyond asinine ( in my opinion) to pay $25 just play the game three days before it's released.

$25 to fully evaluate most of EA's gaming lineup... is it better to pay $69 for a game like Fight Night Champion, then toss it aside and never play it again because IMO it was the same game? $25 is a reasonable price to fully play EA's games for 3 days and make a smart decision when buying. Like I said, better that than blowing $69 on a game and being brutally disappointed, which has happened MANY times to me.

You can rent the game. If someone wants check the game out, they can rent it rather than paying $25 to play it three days early. I'd be willing to bet that some of these people ( who are getting the EA pass) are doing because they can't wait three more days until it releases. They're paying $8.33 per day to play the game early. It's a waste of money.

So ya its confusing. Either that or its available for download at 10am EST but is not able to be played until 6pm EST. They might be giving you those 8 hours to download it. They did say on their Facebook page answering some questions about it that they would give extra time for downloading so this may be it.

What the hell, I am going to get it too. I usually get every EA game anyhow. It gives me a chance to play some of these games for 3 days without having to purchase it. So, in theory it can save me money from buying a game I do not enjoy.

It's not a waste of money. A waste of money would be paying $8.33 a day for NOTHING. In your humble opinion, it might be a poor use of money. I however, disagree.

If only just for Madden and no other games or discounts, I still think it's a justifiable purchase. If you are one of those people who spends days searching for the game a few days early every year, then not having to worry about it and just know you are getting the game 3 days early may be worth it.

Like someone else has said, $25 isn't even a tank of gass (or half for that matter) so if you spend a tank of gass driving to a city that's a couple hours away to get Madden, boom problem solved. Also, time is money, so if you spend hours upon hours searching for the game each and every year, then $25 may be worth it to you.

May be it isn't for you, but that does not make it a waste of money, just a poor use of your money.

That would be nice of EA to give downloading time during the day, but even at 6pm Friday, that's still 4 nights of gameplay. Hope that's the case, if it is, bonus.

What I'm concerned about is bandwidth. I can download a 1.8GB demo in 30mins or so, but what about when thousands of people are all after the same exact game at the same exact time? Hopefully their servers can handle the heavy traffic. I'd hate for it to be a 2 day download at a turtle's pace.
