Re: I Fixed the Imported Draft! (No P/K in first round, no Carolina taking a QB)
Is there a way to get through the draft controlling all 32 teams without simming every single pick before getting to your primary team? That's 7 x 32 picks. I am the Bills and want to draft the players I scouted, but I don't want to sim each and every pick until I get to the Bills' pick.
Also, when it comes to cut days, I select players to cut, and try to advance only to find that the CPU released players from my primary team that I wanted to keep (Kelvin Sheppard & Craig Davis).Comment

I just read through most of this thread...sorry to ask... so this is for importing a draft class over from ncaa....
do I need to also do all those other steps in other threads of going through and deleting guys....or just this one 10-15 minute routine and I should be good to go.
thank you for any assistanceComment

Re: I Fixed the Imported Draft! (No P/K in first round, no Carolina taking a QB)
Quick question for anyone who used these settings, what would you say would be a good number for the QB Priority for the Colts, to have a more realistic feel to it? With Manning injured and Collins starting, what would a good number be for the Colts to reflect the season in real life?
Just wanting to make things realistic.Comment

I would say around 50. They might take one in the second round this year and groom him for bout four years. We have tons of holes on both sides of the ball so I think they will fill them first. Do you guys change the priority slider every year as players get older so you can tweak the AI to adjust to a aging player? I been thinking about changing the priority slider each year in Franchise Mode just to reflect age since the AI doesn't really recognize age and will play or pay a older player while even having young guys behind them.Comment

Re: I Fixed the Imported Draft! (No P/K in first round, no Carolina taking a QB)
Logically, you would think yes...but it isn't 100%. There may be other factors here...is there a set number of players a team can bid on? A set number they HAVE to bid on? I'm sure there is a pattern, but I haven't seen it yet.

For the cutting issue, here is my guess. You are selecting the players, but not actually cutting them. If you back out of the screen after selecting players (instead of confirming) it will unselect the players without warning you.

Also following this logic, shouldn't this also change how the AI Drafts with the Madden Classes as well, and not just the Imported Draft Logic?Comment

Re: I Fixed the Imported Draft! (No P/K in first round, no Carolina taking a QB)
Incidentally, here's my new way of playing. VERY happy with it.
1) Control all 32 teams.
2) Re-sign and scout is User. CPU everything else. SIM INJURIES OFF (for now)
3) This is the second biggest time-killer: Deleting made-up players. Rather than go to the "cut" screen, I go to player management BEFORE PLAYING THE FIRST PRESEASON WEEK. Team by team, I sort by potential so that the ?'s are at the top. THE MADE UP PLAYERS ARE FIRST. As you delete them, keep an eye on the contracts. Any contract that is not 1 year/350k is a real person. Any blacked out portrait is a real person. Once you've reached a real person, you've deleted all the fakes on that team (IN SEASON ONE ONLY. IT IS DIFFERENT IN LATER SEASONS). Move on to the next team and repeat. At about two minutes per team, 32 teams, this takes about an hour.
4) Go to roster breakdown, switch to NFL, then check each position and sort by number of players. Notate any teams that need a player.
5) Check the team management screen to see if you can fill holes without signing new players. For example, the O-line is basically interchangeable. You can move an extra tackle to guard, etc. DEs can be DTs. That sort of thing.
6) For any holes you still have, hire free agents. I prefer to hire the WORST available free agent at the needed position, since I'm trying to keep the starting lineup accurate.
7) Fix the QB lineup. Manning moves to the bottom. Gradkowski and Dalton switch. Gabbert and McCown switch. Palko is number two for the Chiefs. You can do the other lineups if you like, I only care about QBs. NOTE: If you set a position yourself, the CPU will not adjust it.
8) Sim the preseason. With sim injuries off and deleted players gone, you should be able to make it through the preseason with as accurate a roster for each team as possible. Note that the CPU may still hire better players from FA.
9) SAVE THE GAME. The imported rosters tend to not load around 50% of the time. Restarting the PS3 and reloading at this point fixes the issue. In fact, if you ever decide to restart your franchise, you can reload at this point and not have to go through that mess again.
10) Import roster and advance to regular season.
11) Play/sim week one.
12) SIM INJURIES ON. We are officially into the future, where anything can happen. ;c)
13) From here on out, I sim/play week by week. I keep my eye on injuries, because YOU HAVE TO IR SEASON-ENDING INJURY PLAYERS. The CPU will not do it for you. Then I look at last week's transactions, to see if there was any interesting moves. I occasionally poke my head into standings to see how the season is playing out.
14) PLAYOFFS. I note the 12 teams, then check the injuries. Wild card week, any player out 5 or more weeks is IR'd, because they won't be back in time for the super bowl any way. I do this for all 12 teams. The next week, I do it again for the 8 surviving teams, players 4 weeks or more are IR'd. Etc.
15) OFFSEASON. I sim past the coaching changes.
16) RESIGNING. I tried a few different methods here. I think the CPU cuts way too many players. Here's the best method I found, as far as results go:
a. I downloaded a free die-rolling app on my phone. You can go to random.org or roll a real die or whatever.
b. I don't look at just the expired contract players. I look at all the players on each team, by position. Starting with the Bears QBs, if there is someone who is expired, I look at whether I still need them. I like to have three QB's: 80+, 70+, and 60+. If I still need them, I use this system:
90+ OVR: Make the default offer. If they refuse, I raise it while counting to ten. At ten, I let go of the button and make another offer. I will make five offers (including the inital). If they refuse the fifth offer, I will franchise them.
85-89: Same pattern, but I'll only make four offers, no franchise tag.
80-84: Three offers.
75-80: Two offers.
70-74: One offer. If they refuse, they can get out.
60-69: I roll a die. Odd, I make them one offer. Even, I don't.
Less than 60: No offer.
I've had extremely realistic results following this pattern. It also takes A RIDICULOUS AMOUNT OF TIME.
17) I skip all the scouting nonsense. No need.
18) SET ALL TEAMS' coaching strategies. Move punter and kicker priorities to zero. You can mess with QB priority a LITTLE. Keep as many 100 priorities as possible though, or else you will get punters and kickers drafted early, even with zero priority.
19) I like to watch the free agency bidding, especially noting where the QBs go.
20) I like to watch the first round of the draft, then sim the rest. After, I go to draft recap to see where the QBs and players from Pitt and PSU went, since those are my NCAA teams.
21) Preseason time! Again, you'll need to delete the fake players. THIS DOES NOT FOLLOW THE PREVIOUS PATTERN. This time, you'll want to sort by years left. Players with 1 year who have ?'s are fake. It is extremely easy to delete real players here if you are not paying close attention!
Hope this helps everyone!Comment

Re: I Fixed the Imported Draft! (No P/K in first round, no Carolina taking a QB)
It SHOULD work for Madden Classes as well, with the following caveats:
1) I have never used a Madden Class, so I have no idea.
2) It's my understanding that Madden classes actually work, so there is no need to do this.
3) Nothing in Madden works the way you think it should. ;c)Comment

Re: I Fixed the Imported Draft! (No P/K in first round, no Carolina taking a QB)
so i started my franchise tonite and is using your guide for 32-team control...I got up to step 5 and that's where im stuck...i noticed that many teams are short on offensive lineman...For example for the Bears, they only have 3 tackles so i tried inserting a back-up guard as a back-up tackle but when i go to roster management, it still shows that i have 3 tackles (and the total requirement is 4)...am i doing something wrong?
There are minimum numbers for a position, you need 4 T's minimum on the roster, putting a G there in the depth chart doesn't cut it. If you have an extra G you can switch his position to T to get to 4, but depth chart placement alone won't do it.Comment

Re: I Fixed the Imported Draft! (No P/K in first round, no Carolina taking a QB)
Yes, you have to actually edit their position, apologies for not being clear.
As you've already discovered, doing so DOES change their overall...either in the positive or negative. When I said Oline is basically interchangeable, I meant that there is the least OVR change when mixing these characters around. Same with CB-FS-SS, OLB-MLB, DE-DT, etc.Comment
