i wonder if you loaded the game as a different team, with a 3-4 base, if then you would see Kyle Williams 91 rating.
Why does the player's overall rating change when I start my career?

Wait a sec, I may have found out a way to get scheme overall changes...
UPDATE:
You CAN get scheme overalls to change. When creating a new owner or coach, create your CFM. BEFORE clicking "Start Offline League" go to your schemes and make your changes and save them. Once saving them, you should see changes (Carrington actually went up from 73 to 78, Williams 91 dropped down to 86, and Dareus dropped from 88 to 82). I think once you hit the start league button and go to the preseason, changes to scheme overalls are locked. I will have to do more testing to see if that's the case.Last edited by brettmickey; 08-28-2013, 05:01 PM.Comment

Re: Why does the player's overall rating change when I start my career?
UPDATE: After making my changes to scheme before starting the preseason, I started the preseason and the overalls were set back to the original ones. So Kyle Williams wasn't dropped from a 91 to 86, he was dropped from a 91 to 62. For some reason, the changes are shown before you advance to the preseason, but once you advance to the preseason, all your changes are for nothing as the ratings go back to the beginning. This is all very frustrating. I'm reporting this in the bugs/glitches thread.Last edited by brettmickey; 08-28-2013, 05:37 PM.Comment

This is very frustrating. They have Dennis Pitta only at an 83 and Visanthe Shianco at a 81. VS is a complete bum and hasnt caught a regular season pass in over a year but yet they are almost the same? I wish it would go back to the format before schemes. Play Now makes alot more sense..Comment

Yeah let's hope so. Schemes would be thrown out the window because they are currently locked in even if they show changes on the scheme screen.Comment

Re: Why does the player's overall rating change when I start my career?
If you change the positional schemes before you advance to the first preseason week in the first season they take effect on the players, but once you advance they go back to their previous overall. That makes it seem to me that its broken and not that they wanted the schemes tied to the coaches and unchangeable.
I know overalls don't matter all that much but it is pretty annoying seeing both of my LEs in the 50s and being able to do nothing about it. And its not because those players are terrible, all the DEs across the whole league are way down overall, outside of Justin Smith and Watt, for however the Raiders have their scheme setup.Comment

This exactly! I made a post in the bugs/glitches thread. Want to look it over for me and see if I need to clarify/change anything because you know exactly the problem I'm having.

Re: Why does the player's overall rating change when I start my career?
What's also confusing is when the team's overall changes randomly. For example, I made 1 test move by releasing Terrell Pryor and signing him to the Chargers (not in CCM, just offline). The Raiders went from 73 ovr to 82. Chargers jumped from 73 ovr to 83 lol. Why?Comment

It's a frustrating concept. But you players ratings IN GAME are there ratings for YOUR SCHEME. any other ratings outside of playing a game are meaningless.
Just go by what u see in the pause screen IN GAME and there will be no confusion.Comment

I also play with the Bills and noticed that the players with huge fluctuations have a terrible size rating - for example Williams has a size rating of 31, while Mario Williams and Carrington are in the 50s.Comment

Re: Why does the player's overall rating change when I start my career?
What I don't understand is I started my franchise and when I go to the depth chart on the franchise menu Kolb is a 64 but when I start a game he's a 75 overall. Makes no sense. It's the same season and why is he getting better during games and not when I'm not playing?Comment
