Re: Why does the player's overall rating change when I start my career?
However I am doing a test franchise with the buccaneers right now and Greg Schiano's default scheme for his playbook is a west coast scheme. Everyone knows that the buccaneers run a power run scheme so I changed it to power run. Even if I switch my HB preference to One cut, or power back I still see no change to Peyton Hillis or Doug Martins overall. All of my offensive line are run block player types and I have not seen an adjustment in skill for them as well.
I get why the scheme overalls work but this may need to be patched.Comment

No there is. Under schemes in team management. What people are noticing is that even if they switch to a coaching scheme that fits there players they are not seeing a ratings adjustment in correlation to that move.Comment

Either give it an effect or remove that option.Comment

So then no, there is no way to switch the preferences in a meaningful way.Comment

So in essences, yes you MAY not (I cannot confirm for sure without some more testing, but it certainly seems that way)be able to change your scheme to fit your personnel. It might be more effective to hire a new coach who fits your philosophy.Last edited by Caliboy626; 08-28-2013, 02:47 PM.Comment

Re: Why does the player's overall rating change when I start my career?
The reason they do this is b/c the teams, as you can see in ccm, are actually much closer in talent than the play now ratings would lead you to believe; that's why every team in ccm is usually between 78 and 86. But the developers want play now players to have a better grasp on the team disparity so they just give the elite teams a 90 and the worst teams low 70s so that you clearly know who is better.Last edited by frankstallone83; 08-28-2013, 09:42 PM.Comment

Re: Why does the player's overall rating change when I start my career?
They should just have a rating called "current scheme" that has a plus or minus with a number.
Current scheme:
0 (for team/scheme that drafted player)
-2 or +1 (for example) if you change default scheme or player gets traded to another team/scheme, and have that reflected in gameplay but just leave the rest of the ratings alone.
This is the perfect solution. Simple, easy to understand, saves time and everybody wins. Which of course is why it will never happen.Comment

Re: Why does the player's overall rating change when I start my career?
It would appear that way for the default coaches I.E. none of the computer generated coaches (Harbaugh, McCarthy, Johnson etc.) Its like years past before CCM. I remember changing coaches defensive schemes in franchise to 3-4 in coach management, but there default playbook was still a 4-3 playbook from the year prior. I had to pick another teams defensive playbook before every game to have it implement my philosophy change. I think the scheme preferences may be tied into a coaches playbook and default philosophies more than anything.

Why does the player's overall rating change when I start my career?
That is very disappointing considering Buffalo isn't running a base 4-3 this year. Mike Pettine (ex-Jets DC) is bringing his hybrid multiple front defense to Buffalo. So since Josh Looman (CFM designer) screwed up our base defense I have to deal with incorrect scheme overalls? Very disappointed. I hope this can be changed in an update. Hopefully I can contact him through Twitter and hopefully he sees my post and adjusts accordingly. Thank you caliboy for helping me figure out this dilemma I was in!Comment

This would be an interesting test, and I would be very intrigued to see the results. If someone has the time to do this and inform us of your results that would be cool.Comment

But if my top players on my favorite team were getting screwed because they put the wrong base scheme in the game I would not be happy either. Fortunately the wrong schemes in the game actually make my raiders better as a CCM team.Comment

Re: Why does the player's overall rating change when I start my career?
brettmickey brings up a great point though. It would be nice to be able to pick a hybrid multiple front playbook for a created coach with a good mix of both 3-4 and 4-3 looks. It would really make tweener players valuable roster commodities. Think guys like Richard Seymour who has had success in both formations.Comment

Re: Why does the player's overall rating change when I start my career?
Don't feel too bad brettmickey. I think they screwed up everyone's team. My raiders default to westcoast playbook and almost never run the ball in this scheme even though they are a power run team. Tampa Bay also defaults to a west coast offense even though they are a power run team. The only saving grace is that Schiano likes big Arm quarterbacks so Josh Freeman comes in at an 89 "scheme overall". It also does not hurt Doug Martin to bad because he is a good receiving back.
