Think about what just wrote one more time.. The greedy NFL could gain more money off a 2K football game than EA could get a loan for!! That license ( exclusive ) would have to be a billion or more!! Period... Think about that!!
    Try again?

Electronic Arts earned $993 Million in microtransaction revenue in Q4 of FY 2019 (October 1 through December 31) while Take 2 Interactive in the same time span pulled a (still ridiculous) $344 Million. So on its face, no, you are immediately incorrect; Take 2 does not make more microtransaction revenue than EA.

According to NPD, NBA 2K20 and Madden NFL 20 were the domestic #2 and #3 selling titles in North America, respectively. Both games are doing quite well. Presumably, both titles were major drivers of microtransaction spending (and both companies have many other titles which surely contributed to their bookings, be it EA's FIFA Soccer and Apex Legends or 2K's Grand Theft Auto V and Red Dead Redemption 2).

If someone can find unit numbers, fine - those aren't easy to pin down anymore, and unit numbers haven't been easy to find for most of this past decade - but this picture you're trying to paint that NBA 2K and Take 2 are a runaway financial juggernaut leaving Madden and EA in the dust (relatively speaking) just doesn't hold up to any basic level of scrutiny.

AS ALWAYS!!! Leave a window open here on OS and watch how " BASIC " one jumps through it.. Smh!!

MADDEN " MUT " does not bring in half of that amount!! ( Did y'all peep how slick he tried tie in all of Take two games and forget to implicate FIFA, BFV etc etc AS being the bread winners? ) Again, 2K SPORTS micro transactions does not matter at this point... That margin will be significantly spread down the middle in the next two years!! That's all I'm trying to say...

First off, drop the know-it-all attitude. You won't last here long if you keep it up.

To the point - EA doesn't report bookings for Madden Ultimate Team by itself in their quarterly earnings reports, so I don't know how you can possibly claim to know whatever they do.

As far as I know, EA has always reported all Ultimate Team earnings for all their sports titles together whenever they come up. Here's a GameIndustry.biz article from 2017 which reports the company earned $800M from all their Ultimate Team modes that year. More recently, they typically talk about all digital microtransactions, because all their major games have them now, sports or otherwise.

As far as I can easily find, Take 2 Interactive has reported growth percentages in NBA 2K's digital economy in some years, but the company has never supplied revenue numbers from just NBA 2K by itself. This is similar to EA which historically provides only totals for all digital business, and similar to the games' industry general reluctance to offer hard numbers for anything anymore.

Basically, I'm asking you to provide some vetted sources for your claims now, because you aren't an authority for truth on this matter by yourself. If you have them, I'll happily admit I'm wrong.

First off all, NO $&?;!!! The *** **** license is still ACTIVE ( as we speak ) until December of 2020 ( FACTS ) which means 2K SPORTS can not make a " SIM " title until the contract runs it's course ( duhhh!! ) As far as speculation goes, let's just say " speak for yourself when you say WE don know what a " non-sim " game truly is before you jump on my case superman... EA WILL NOT BE GETTING THE EXCLUSIVE DEAL ALONE WHEN THE TIME COMES!!! Period... We already know this is WHY they announced this 2K PARTNERSHIP ( Remember EA's Twitter tantrum ) so early!! Again.. Duhhhh!!!
Repeating it with an even more condescending attitude does not make you anymore right than you were before. Duh!

2K themselves have announced they will release a non-sim game in 2021. FACT!

Interesting. And 2K also was involved with publishing The Golf Club 2019, I think. Things have been really quiet on the 2K/HB Studios front regarding a new game, but I'm hoping they are just waiting for the new consoles.

As far as football is concerned, personally, I think the best we could hope for in year 1 would be a Super Mega Baseball style game. Something a little arcade/cartoony, yet having some solid gameplay at it's core. Who knows, might still turn out to be more "sim" than Madden.

But yet you still fail to REALIZE that any and everybody knows exactly what was stated.. For you to keep assuming I don't know what 2K and the NFL have on the table based off what they've given shows how blind and lame this thread is.. Those are the FACTS! FOH..

So you want me dig in my butt for you when it probably took 5 minutes for you to google these old reports!! First off, lasting here on these forums is far from anything important and the fact that you're showing some skin makes me believe you live for this ****.. Dude please!!

As far as any inkling of info reguarding what 2K or EA does is frivolous at this point!! The FACTS are that TAKE TWO, VISUAL CONCEPTS & 2K SPORTS have deal on the table that some of you guys fail to understand!! This agreement was a clear cut business decision by 2 JUGGERNAUTS for future endeavors and to think that it's for something as small as an PLAYGROUND FOOTBALL game set as the long-term goal, that's what all parties had in mind?? NOPE You'll see EA's tone and intentions for Madden 21 come June!! They'll milk the hell outta MUT from here on out!! I've already heard rumblings about **** hitting the fan over this epidemic quarantine so let's just see how this year's #'s secures the EXCLUSIVITY!! Not gonna happen!! Ever again.. A new king is in town!! " Let's see how long that last!! "

Yes, that is exactly what I am asking you to do - supply proof for your argument that 2K is going to financial topple over EA. I obviously do not see it based on the numbers the companies themselves are reporting.

Heck, here's a Gamasutra article reporting EA's 2019 annual earnings report from today - they made over $4.3 Billion this past year in digital sales and transactions. Take 2 reports on May 20, and I'm guessing they'll easily top $3 Billion; they cleared a healthy $2.67B last fiscal year.

Hey, they can always make a game similar to the one that had LT in it back in the day where they were taking steroids on the sidelines and late hits that caused broken bones etc. Just over the top stuff. I doubt it though...

So let me get this straight. EA has FIFA and BF as its 2 decent games in the past 3 plus years or more. Fifa had comp as well as BF so it makes sense, although PES and COD were arguably better or close in quality. Bball and baseball were destroyed and Football exclusivity is all they have saving them from just producing FIFA as the only sports title they can brag on.

That tells me that unless the NFL gives zero #***$ about the quality of their product EA is sole responsible for in gaming, no renewal will happen. We've all seen videos from games made 10 plus years ago that play better than EA Madden. If any businessman/final decision maker saw a demo of APF2k8 with current graphics n slight tweaks and still went back to an EA only deal, they should be fired on the spot.

If EA is making the money I see speculated with this embarrassment of a product, who in this life or any other would stay blind to the possibilities of what even an APF2K8 window dresses game could bring in. That would be the dumbest financial decision and oversight I've seen in some time. The fact some say they would renew makes me think, yall have no idea how to make a sustainable business moreso than a 5 yr old. Its been a laughing stock of a product and the top 2 worse AAA sports franchise overall for a while now. Gameplay is sheesh, AI is stuck in the early 2000s and not in a good way, and options are borderline mobile download only worthy.

Well the NFL is stupid a lot of times so it probably wouldn't cross their mind i guess and more money doesnt matter.

Somebody's gonna say it so I may as well. When games are bad....I mean REALLY bad even with no competition they don't get the play that Madden does. From a sales standpoint or otherwise. Ever heard of a game called Alien Colonial Marines? If you haven't I'd recommend checking it out. Hell the NBA 2k series some would say has gone down the same road Madden has over the last few yesrs but at least they have a really good franchise mode.

If Madden were truly truly as horrible as everyone who hates on it makes it out to be....we wouldn't be having this discussion because we probably wouldn't even know it exists.

Do I personally have my problems with Madden? You bet I do. Do I wish there were features and things from older Maddens in the current ones? Yup. Should Madden be in a better place all around than what it currently is, I know we all can agree on that as well. I find ways to enjoy the game regardless.

But Madden is NOT some dupster fire of a game. People just look for any reason to hate because it's the "cool" thing to do. And if they took that vitriol, and turned it around....I'm not saying the game would be better, but I think people would find something to like about it.
