Are you remembering to looks at the spaces between each value or just looking at the relative position? Not every hex editor is set up where it looks like catcatch's picture. Every double digit counts as a space. It took me a little time to realize it. You can't look at his picture and assume that the values will always line up like that in the hex editor, the spaces between the values are the way to measure. One example is that there is 6 spaces between the tier and the player's year of birth. Does this make sense?

Re: So I changed the name of Calvary to Cowboys in season mode
Tonight I will definitely put some work into making some clear and concise videos on editing all pro to the best of my ability before I forget everything. I grew weary of messing with it but I will put some work in today.
Also once I put the videos up please do not message me further. I can't do it for you, yes it is somewhat difficult but I can not hold your hand through this process. You either can do it or you don't simple as that.
The videos should give you enough info to figure it all out on your own.Comment

Re: So I changed the name of Calvary to Cowboys in season mode
Great work everyone! I'm playing around with c# code to handle this stuff via an application. I need to get a better understanding of the roster and season files as a prerequisite.
I'm looking forward to those videos to help better understand the values associated with those files. Offset locations are huge into understanding how they affect the game.
In addition, having a library of all of the hex values associated to APF values would be nice to reference as a database layer for the application.
Ex. 40 on offset 54264 equals facemask type ("2-bar") or something like this would give a matrix to match the hex code values with APF values.
Also, if Finn does not have the time to make one then sharing his code or giving some quick insight as to the structure of his application would be a HUGE help.

Re: So I changed the name of Calvary to Cowboys in season mode
Okay, I'm confused how do I know where my created players start on the hex workshop. I only have 6 created players:
Mark Van Eeghen
Skip Thomas
Ted Hendricks
George Atkinson
Phil Villapiano
Dave Casper
As you can see some of the names are not in the database on the game. All of these are bronzes except for Dave Casper he is a silver. I just need help with getting players more abilities I would prefer changing Dave Casper and Ted Hendricks to a gold and Phil Villapiano silver. I just want to get something accomplished can anyone help me? Thank You
And Yes I have read all the pages 13 and 25 etc its no help with my situation, I think most people have 11 to 20 created playersComment

Re: So I changed the name of Calvary to Cowboys in season mode
Issues:
-- Its seems as if the roster/season files store CAP's in different locations each time I check the file in a Hex editing program.
-- When I change any CAP value in the 360 and compare the pre and post roster in a hex editor, the files say that they are identical. I did this drill several times and same result. Not sure what is going on here.
I'm hoping that files behave in a more predictable manner or else this editing program won't ever see the light of day.
Any insight will be much appreciated.Comment

Re: So I changed the name of Calvary to Cowboys in season mode
The instructions given by Ephs05msm for copying teams (post #284) worked fine.
With his assistance troubleshooting, I needed to (1) upgrade .NET
The download link for .NET is here:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/e...displaylang=en
and (2) needed to select the new version of Usb Xtaf Gui to get it to copy the files.
I copied the Ravens, made several edits and played a game online.
This is fantastic for guys who hate building rosters and teams... just copy them, edit to your liking and you are done.
It would be great if those skilled in hex editor magiccould take the Ravens (and other team's) file and edit the generics for correct name, number, skin color, ht, wt (whatever is possible) and save the file... or i'll do it myself once 'Hex Editor Magic For Dummies' is released by catcatch or King Java's APF editor for really stupid people is released.
Patents pending.
P.S. The newly found attribute 'Helmet High Tackles' would bring a fine in today's NFL.
Good stuff.

Re: So I changed the name of Calvary to Cowboys in season mode
Can you use more characters than the original names when trying to edit generic players?
For generic players, it looks like the first and last names are in separate locations and there are some years and city names around the first names.
Ex. B.a.r.n.u.m...O.H. .'.0.1.,. .'.0.2.,
Has anyone figured out if you are restricted to the generic player name's characters? Also, does anyone know if the roster file maps a team to a generic, legend, and CAP player?Comment

As far as mapping players to a team I have been looking for that too and haven't seen a connection.Comment

Re: So I changed the name of Calvary to Cowboys in season mode
In the hex file giving the generics names with more characters than the original results in making the file bigger which will cause an error. You have to edit generic name sin game.
As far as mapping players to a team I have been looking for that too and haven't seen a connection."Maybe I can't win. But to beat me, he's going to have to kill me. And to kill me, he's gonna have to have the heart to stand in front of me. And to do that, he's got to be willing to die himself. I don't know if he's ready to do that."Comment

I just changed the name of curtis little to curtis kozlowski and it worked. That's a database name, so maybe that has something to do with it.Comment

Re: So I changed the name of Calvary to Cowboys in season mode
How do you know where the ratings are for the generic player in the hex file?
Do you make the player available for editing by changing the purple 06 field from catch22's pic on pg 13 to the #6? Which value makes the player editable?Comment
