Yea I rehash/resign using Modio. However I dont think I am doing it right. I go to my xbox, system settings, memory, hard drive, apf 2k8, and take the roster file which I copy to my usb. Then I put the usb in my computer and extract the file with USBXTAF. After that I open the file with Hex editor, make my changes (probably incorect), save the file, open Modio, load file and click rehash resign. Then when I put my usb in my xbox, I move it from my usb to hard drive and start the game with no changes happening. I am very sure I am doing it wrong or else it should work.

You said you changed him by his name surrounded by stars? that is not where you edit them at that is just the names and doesn't affect abilities. If you only have one created player go to offset 000829F0, and follow catch22's screen shot tutorial on page 13.

Been playing around a little with the abilities spaces. I created a Jim Brown with the following abilities:

Quick Feet
Breakaway Burst
Branching Tackles
Strength Bonus
Stamina Bonus
Workhorse
Finesse and Power
(for some reason he also got Cadence, but I'm working on fixing that)

If you look at Rocky's list of abilities and where they are located, you will notice some abilities occupy the same space. So how do you get both Stamina Bonus and Strength Bonus when there is only one number for space 7? The answer is simple; just add the two numbers together. By adding 04 and 02 together, you get 06 which gives you both abilities for the price of one slot. This doesn't necessarily work for all numbers and spaces because there are many ways to add to get a number like 12 or 14. Theoretically, there really isn't a limit to how many abilities you can give a player, but the numbers can get a lot more complicated when you start having multiple abilities for one space. This gets me excited because I really want to create an accurate Lawrence Taylor (whenever someone finds the number and location for Swim for an OLB).

Also, there are some other things of note. One ability just doesn't occupy one space. Clutch might be at space 1, but it also might be at space 10 with a different number representing it. Also, (Finesse) and (Power) added together equal out to (Finesse and Power) (and maybe Cadence, more testing is necessary).

One thing I've noticed is that the tiers are the overpowering attribute trait in the game. If I had to rank between them, it would be:

Abilities

The difference between a gold player and a bronze player with the same ratings and the same abilities is astounding. It seems as if being a gold gives you a boost in the game that you don't otherwise get.

Abilities can unlock special animations or get the AI to react to your player in different ways, but I don't think, for instance, the speed burner attribute necessarily makes your player faster. What it does is it makes the pursuit of the CPU controlled players less precise. I've also noticed that with the Rocket Arm, if the hidden rating for Throw Power is 99, he will throw the same distance if he has the ability or not. The only difference is that there is no charge without Rocket Arm attribute.

Is it the same if the rating isn't 99?

Say you have two bronze QBs, make their throw power ratings 85 and give one rocket arm and the other something like tough as nails, does the one with rocket arm throw further in that situation?

Rocky, have you found any of the hard abilities (Swim, Return Specialist, QB Evade) yet? It's going to take a combination of luck and process of elimination for any of us to find them.

EDIT***Also of note, I managed to get rid of Cadence for my created Jim Brown, but now he has Power instead. Having (Power) and (Finesse and Power) is pretty awesome! He actually plays like Jim Brown, meaning he is damn well unstoppable.

Man, I loved this game when it first came out but after a year or two gave it up because of some less than stellar experiences in the online league world although some were great. For me being able to play a good season or franchise is what it needed and with the ability to edit even the generics that makes it possible although seemingly labor intensive to create a franchise. You would have to go in at the end of each season and decide who progressed, retired, moved teams, etc and then edit the file to match. So I went out and re-purchased the game, for the third time I might add, but this time for only $2.99. Now I just have to learn you to manipulate hex code. I have the resigning and rehashing down from Backbreaker but not the hex code stuff.

I'm with you on that. I'm hoping that there is a video tutorial coming our way when they make more progress with it. After looking at the Madden forum and the backlash it has gotten this year from many supporters for being less than impressive for the 3rd or 4th straight year, I fully expect APF to get a second wind if this process can be simplified and shared with the masses.

Not yet. What I do is that I compare legends to see what attributes they have and work from there. You could also create a player, give him an attribute, and go back in and see what it is (although that is a bit time consuming).

Does anybody know where the code is for the team they are on? Because I thought I could edit generics while on a team, but that is not working, only the name changes, the skin, and equipment won't change unless you go back to the edit team screen and that will make it to hard to create a whole NFL team. I swore I did it before but I guess I was seeing things.
