Re: I can not get the custom soudtracks to work HELP!

FWIW, my jukebox worked fine - until I burned a bunch of new music last night. I discovered that it will not recognize your HD's music files unless the individual playlists are under 20 tracks - the Jukebox has that many "open" slots on the lefthand side and I guess any playlists on your HD with more than 20 tracks will screw up ALL efforts by the Jukeboz to recognize your catalog.

I had one particular playlist that had 26 tracks, so I moved a few over to a new list and went back into the Crib - wham, everything on my HD was there! Not a backbreaker, but it'd have been nice to get some warning in the manual. I pity the dudes who have like gigantic playlists and are either screwed or have to do a lot of HD editing.

It is cool, though, to be playing everything in my Crib from Kid Rock to 80's Wang Chung!

      WOW...well there you go.

I thought it would be related more to the size of the playlist rather than the number of total tracks.

Break down your playlists to 20 or less.

<hr /></blockquote><font class="post">SEGA_L_F, I just counted and have 89 total tracks on the HD. What's weird is that the jukebox worked fine when I first started playing the game; you just have to figure out how the controls work for moving stuff over and highlighting the playback options.

Then I went back in to the HD and edited some playlists and added another CD-RW's worth of music, sorting some more. It was afterward that I was surprised to find my Crib was silent and nothing I could do would get my jukebox to recognize my music.

What was really weird was that the Jukebox actually showed my playlists. In other words, I could see like six or seven lists, but no track names. It even had the right amount of tracks under each list, but couldn't recognize them or play them. People having trouble might notice this if they scroll past the stock Sega soundtracks. It appears that even if you have some playlists with six or nine tracks, if even one playlist is too long, the jukebox won't run.

So I looked back at my playlists and realized one had grown to 26 tracks, while the previously-largest playlist had been 20 tracks. So I said, "OK let's reduce the largest list down to 20 and see what happens". I sorted a few tracks to a new list, as I mentioned above, and went back in to discover that evrything worked. I saw all my playlists and tracks - and everything played fine!

Perhaps VC just assumed that most people's playlists would be album collections, which are generally not more than 20 songs (usually 10 or 12)? Just my two cents, I'm by no means an authority on the coding problems (or lack thereof) in video game software. It just appeared to me that the number of slots available on the left side of the jukebox console was on or about 20.
