WEEK 1 OSFL make up game

    GIANTS 16***STEELERS 13

In an outstanding game that saw momentum go back and fourth, the Giants eek out a squeaker at the buzzer with a game winning kick to get their first win of the year in the very tough OSFL.

The Giants opened the game with an amazing opening drive which spanned practically the whole 1st quarter, a 7:14 sec drive culminating in Steve Christie Field goal to make it 3-0 G-men. Steelers quickly strike back with Duece Staley who had a great game rushing for 93 yards on 11 carries. His 23 yard run helped spawn a scoring drive with the steelers tying the game up at 3 with a Jeff Reed field goal in the 2nd quarter. Steelers get the ball back and Staley again rips his longest run of the day with a 58 yard scamper which sets up the second score for the steelers, a Randle El touchdown pass putting the Steelers up 10-3 to end the half.

2nd Half and after both teams have trouble moving the ball the Giants make another long drive into Steeler territory where a pass from Manning is picked off by Farrior then as Farrior is making the return he is hit by toomer who causes the fumble and the ball is recovered by Suebert of the Giants. The drive ends with a field goal to make it 10-6 steelers. After the Steelers make another Reed field goal to make it 13-6 Giants come back again this time its Tim Carter with a 39 yeard pitch and catch from Manning. The Drive ends with a 17 yard tiki barber touchdown to tie the game at 13.

Both teams make great defensive plays and the game comes down to the giants having the ball at its own 8 yard line due to a great punt by the steelers. However Tiki Barber makes a 63 yard run into Steeler territory allowing the giants to run what little time on the clock down and win the game on a Steve Christie field goal with 2 seconds left 16-13.

          WEEK 5 OSFL

          NINERS 48***BUCS 7

Some big Passed by SF to spark a 14-0 Lead early in the 1st qrt and a missed FG by TB may have set the tone for the rest of this game.

With a 2nd and 6 at the SF 31 Tim Rattay throws strike to Lloyd for a 68yrd TD pass. TB had a chance to cut it to 4 but Jay Taylor missed a long 48 yrd FG to keep the 7-0 lead. Still in the First SFs Rattay Throws a TD pass up the middle to Johnson for a 60yrd TD most yrds after the catch.

2nd Qrt early Peterson hits the 46yrd FG for SF to take the 17-0 lead. TB answered with a nice drive and handing the ball to Mike Alstott for 2 yrds for a TD making it 17-7. On SFs next drive Rattay gets sacked and hurt with the momentum shifting to the Bucs. None the less SF drives down the field and sets up a Peterson 39yrd FG attempt. Peterson misses the FG giving TB the momentum yet again. End of Half.

Middle of the 3rd with SF Defense shutting down the bucs, Scores on a 1yrd run by Barlow to take a 24-7 lead. TB never recovered from this and their Offense never got back into the game. SF scored another 24 points in the 4th from Turnovers and tough Defense.

All around Good game Tight first half. All class By TB owner. GG.

            Week 2 OSFL (Finally)

            Tampa Bay 31 Pittsburgh 21

This long awaited game was finally played between these two teams. After weeks of delays Tampa was finally able to make the trip to Pittsburgh to get this week #2 game in.

The game started looking like it was going to be a big defensive battle with both teams controlling the clock, but not scoring. But then Tampa got things started and at the end of the first quarter led 7-0. After that, Brian Griese took over the game by completing 80% of his passes for 327 yards and 3 touchdowns. Two of those strikes went to Joey Galloway who had 169 yards recieving. Big Ben had a decent day behind center completing 62% of his passes and tossing 3 TD's of his own. However, Tampa's defense put Big Ben on his back five times. And with the Steelers running game taking the night off, the passing game was not very effective.

The Bucs played a solid defensive game, and with the exception of two late fourth quarter scores, dominated this Steeler offense.

              Week 6

              ***Jags 31 Bucs 14***

Game started off with tha Jags going 3 and out. After that tha Bucs took tha ball down tha field to take an early 7-0 lead. From there tha Jags took over and went on to score 31 unanswered points from late in tha second quarter up until late in tha 4th where tha Bucs managed to get a garbage td to make tha score look a lil more respectable.

Once again tha Jags rushing attack lead tha way with Freddy gettin tha majority of tha carries until he got hurt late in tha 3rd. Toefield picked up where Freddy left off and continued to dominate tha Bucs defense.

The player of the game on defense would have to be Darius who collected 2 int's(both manual) Also tha defense recorded four more sacks.

              GG Twosilk.

                Week 4
                Chiefs 17 *** Steelers 10

Strong defensive battle as the Chiefs first half 10 points proved to be necessary. Trent Green connected to backup TE Wilson for a 29 yd strike toward the end of the first Qtr. as the Chiefs added a FG before half time to round out the 1st half scoring. Steelers receivers left R-berger high and dry dropping passes primarily in the flats. In the second half, the Steelers closed to within a score by knocking in a FG of their own. However, before the 3rd quarter closed, Holmes scampered for a 28 yard gain to set himself up for a short TD run later in the drive to start the 4th quarter. The Steelers then put together a sound drive, mixing the run and pass. They were rewarded with a nice 8 yard strike to Ward shading to the left of the end zone. The Steelers D stiffened forcing a Chiefs punt and one last push to try to score. However, while at their own 40, R-berger looked for a medium long strike down the middle that proved to be too far for his receiver and instead found its' way into the waiting arms of a Jerome Woods playing center field with only about a 1:00 to go, sealing the deal.

Great, great contest with an exciting finish with sawblade. Had his receivers helped him out, it could have been an entirely different outcome.

                          Week 7: Denver 28 NYG 14.

A long Denver TD drive was countered in the first quarter with a long TD pass from Eli Manning to Ike Hilliard. In the 2nd quarter, the Giants seemed to take charge when they knocked Jake the Snake Plummer out of the game. However the turning point was on the ensuing NYG drive when Champ Baily interecepted a pass and took in all the way. Denver up 14-7 at the break.

In the second half, the Broncos were able to get the running game going and Denver scored twice to take a 28-7 lead. The Giants offensive line had trouble protecting Manning and some drops by receivers didn't help either. The Giants managed a late TD drive and recovered an onside kick, but couldn't draw any closer.

The West now leads 8-1 in cross division matchups.

                            Chiefs 21 *** Giants 3
                            (week # 6)

The teams felt each other out early on both having drives sputter prior to getting into true FG ranges. The Chiefs then put together a 2nd quarter drive mixing up long pass and short runs culminating in a Priest Holmes run to the left stack. The G-men pulled to within a score knocking through a medium range FG. 2nd half was all Chiefs, primarily behind the arm of Trent Green who mixed up his receivers. The Giants took Tony Gonzalez out of the mix, so others had to step up. Despite the Giants tenacious pass rush which brought them 4 sacks on the day, Green was able to find both Morton and Kennison for end zone strikes in the 2nd half.

gg marlboroman......your blitz pressure is tough!

                              ***Jags 48 Pitt 0***

From the opening kickoff you could tell it was going to be a long game for the steelers. Reason I say that is because on the opening kickoff the kick returner for pitt coughed up the ball and set up an easy 6 points for the jags.

From there all the momentum was in tha jags favor. Jags roll in this one 48-0.

Leftwhich had one of his best games of the season going 9 for 9 for 167yrds 2td's and 0int's.

Once again "fragile" freddy got hurt early in this game, but once again where freddy left off "big" toe picked it up. Labrandon had another 100+ yrd game coming off the bench to fill in for freddy.

Jags defense had another good game racking in 4 more sacks.

hopefully the jags can ride this momentum deep into the playoffs. GG saw

Week 6 Make up game: Indianapolis at Denver.

This was a wild one. Denver took their first drive inside the Indy 10 yard line but Jake Plummer was picked off. It was the first of three INTs in a frustrating 3 quarters for the Orange Crush faithful. Jim Sorgi (in for a temporarily injured Peyton Manning) connected on a 49 yard pass to Marvin Harrison and the Colts led 10-0 at the break.

Indy went up 17-0 early in the 4th when Peyton Manning came back in the game and connected on a 7 yard pass to Harrison. Denver was finally able to put a drive together and got on the board to make it 17-7.

That is when the Mile High Magic took over and things really got wacky. An Edgerin James Fumble at midfield gave the Broncoes good field position, and they again scored with a 10 yard TD pass to Ruebin Droughs. 17-14 with 3:31 to go. Indy was able collect a few first downs and drive inside the Denver 20. But the Colts gambled and went for one more first down pass, however it was picked by Willie Middlesbrooks and returned 92 yards to give Denver the lead 21-17 with 1:47 to play.

Indy turned it over on downs. Denver decided to run out the clock....by downing the ball? No that would be too intelligent for ole Cardot, and Rueben Droughs fumbled to give Peyton Manning one more shot with :36 left at the Indy 40. The Colts got as far as the Denver 38, but John Lynch bailed the Broncos out with an interception in the endzone. Denver then decided to down the ball this time around and eik out a game that no one seemed to want to win.

                                Final: Denver 21 Indy 17

Great game Hoosier....the new owner of the Colts.
