It wasn't a gimmick it was something in it's infancy and with certain tweaks and ball indicators it coulda been something really neat who knows. SS mode is just as bad when it come out to trying to figure out where the ball is half the time. Cause of the camera views aren't the best and the fact that your player covers up part of the screen Neither mode is that great imo.

The ss modes that work best are the ones that almost have the default view. I think you should have the option to play with a default camera view only locked onto the postion your playing.

Just one thing. Everyone complains about the "Mario Running". That's why the small juke is mapped to the A button. Try this: Call your inside run play. When you see you are about to run up the back of one of your O-linemen, tap the A button and PRESTO! Your back will get skinny and side step through a hole. Try it. It's FUN!
Nah that doesn't fix the problem, in nfl2k5 the running back body and hands and arms adjusted to offensive lineman in the way, sometimes the running back would even put his hand up to help move around them. I madden the running backs legs spin and place and there body reacts as if they are running in the open field instead into the back of the lineman.

I just dont think it will ever develop into a very playable mode. only for a unique change of pace. just for fun

Mario running is used as the posterboy for much more complex gameply/ player interaction issues, its not so much that mario running is such a huge annoyance at the o-line

            fantastic summary of my dilemma

just went through it this weekend

picked up a 360/madden.. played in non stop since thu night

nope....just not good enough to justify a new system + 60 game price.

really bummed.....madden can be good...there are flashes of brilliance in 07, but the game just feels too clunky still.

sooooo......360/madden went back...guess i'll just continue my franchise on 2k5 a little longer.

sure hope 2k puts out something generic or MCST makes 2k5 BC soon

just not impressed at all with next-gen sports gaming [mlb 2k6 too]
Bummed that you're not on my ignore list yet?.....Don't worry, I'm sure you will be very soon.

Re: What does NFL 2K5 have that Madden still doesn't have?

Some of this has already been said, but here are my choices:

              - Formation specific audibles. I can call 4 different audibles and never alter the formation.
              - Ability to set a double team on a reciever
              - Custom celebrations
              - Custom playbooks
              - Sim to the end of game
              - Alternate uniforms (lacking on the 360)
              - Player editing (lacking on the 360)
              - Setting the defensive line play and then the defense. Someone mentioned Madden having more defensive plays, but this feature multiplies the defensive plays and puts it far ahead of what Madden offers.
              - D-Line play. In Madden I feel stuck to the OL. In 2k5 I can shed blocks.
              - Presentation
              - Diverse player ratings. over half the players in Madden are rated higher than 85. In 2k5 you saw a wider range of ratings, so players had more character to them.
              - Gang tackling
              - Great challenge system
              - Penalty sliders that can give a realistic number of penalties
              - YAC. It's hard to explain, but in 2k5 I seem to be able to find recievers open enough to get yards after the catch. In Madden I always seem to get tackled immediately after the catch, even when my reciever looked wide open prior to throwing the ball. Maybe it's the "jetpacking", maybe not, but it's something I notice.

Re: What does NFL 2K5 have that Madden still doesn't have?

The biggest thing for me is the tackling and collision detection. I'v been playing Madden 360 for the last two days and I have to say those two things are lacking big time. Nothing is worst than going to finish off the ball carrier but you cant because there is no gang tacking, you would just bounce and fall down. WTF?

Re: What does NFL 2K5 have that Madden still doesn't have?

i don't hate madden but as a former madden player they weren't doing things to advance the game. for instance when the ps2 version 1st came out i played that game and didn't really know the controls, but i played it the same way i did on the n64 and the same tactics worked.

my friend came over 1 day and brought a dreamcast and nfl 2k2. i started dissing the game and said it was wack when in fact i never played the game before (madden fanboy). my friend sat me down and told me to list all the things i hated and liked about madden.

after that i played the 2k and loved it. i came to the conclusion that the only thing i would be missing from madden was the franchise mode. now i still play madden to this day i just don't buy it. so i feel i am able to critique madden without sounding like a fanboy.

                  also like i stated earlier
                  qb evade
                  maximum tackling
                  juke stick
                  vip
were innovations brought to football game in 1 yr while madden has brought only qb vision which is still a good innovation. either way i still play my 2k5 and have a good season going, but i also still play madden and still wonder how lead blocking became the new thing , when 05 had it as playmaker. i never hate if you brought madden but don't diss 2k and then when you try to play it you play it as if it were madden. until this license deal is over do like i do and buy ea games used.

why do we continously see these threads in a Madden forum?
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Because EA doesn't add the "right" features to compete with a 2 year old game. If they focused on the things in this list instead of stadiums accurate to the seat, we'd be in better shape. I mean, I like authentic stadiums but how does the exact arrangement of sections or seats compensate for lack of on the field accuracy?

And I don't nned to see shots of concrete and steel for cutscenes.......these shots look stupid. If a network cameraman ever framed up shots like this to cut to and from commercials he'd get fired!

I think the poster you are replying to is trying to say that this thread is better suited to the NFL2K forum, where you and the other 12 people on that forum can talk about it until you are blue in the face.
                        Thanks for the advice.

I know a lot of people are angry that the 2k series is gone, but at some point and time, you have to get over it. At least post these comments in the 2k forum.

I don't have a problem of people hating EA or prefering 2k, its just getting ridiculously old to keep seeing these types of threads in the Madden forum.

                            That's a very good question.

At the risk of sounding presumptuous, why hasn't this thread been moved to the 2k or football/other forums?

If the deveopers of Madden 360 were to condescend from their ivory tower and take a look at this thread they might find some useful input; that is the point of this thread and why it is appropriate for this forum. Another thing is that players will read this thread and realize that maybe Madden really could be doing better, they will continue to develop the ideas and push for changes.
