re: Backbreaker PC Editor 1.3 (6/13 Update)
2nd round of testing:
Pro
Hard
Avg Form
Spartans (CPU) oline 99 only edit
Pass: 142 (13/16 2 ints
rush: 42 on 7
Sacks: 3
score: 28
Coyotes (me) d line 1, agility & speed lb/cb/s -20%
Pass: 33 (5/12 2 ints)
rush: 20 on 12
sacks: 1
score: 0
Summary: Decent game, about on the same level as my last my secondary still seemed to get to the ball too quickly as both picks were again standing picks. not much variation from the last game. Settings grade: B-
Second Game
Spartans (CPU) oline 99, all other players speed reduced 20%
Pass: 93 (11/16 0 ints)
rush: 40 on 9
Sacks: 3
score: 10
Coyotes (me) d line 1, agility, speed & focus lb/cb/s -20%, all others speed -20%
Pass: 113 (11/18 1 int)
rush: 35 on 8
sacks: 0
score: 7
Summary: Excellent game. The lowered speed really seemed to make a difference all over the field. My secondary was just barely able to get to the ball on a couple and broke up the play rather than being in position to make the interception. Overall grade: A- (details below)
This impact of the all around speed edit really seemed to improve the play all over the field. Receivers were able to beat LBs in coverage but CBs were still able to keep pace in the right coverage. Not once did I see my defensive player in too good of a position and make a standing play on the ball. The focus reduction to my lbs/cbs/s seemed to make a significant difference then the previous game that I played without that edit.
One change that I have to make is the speed of the oline for neither team should be reduced. A reduction breaks the blocking patterns on sweeps and outside runs as the oline is not able to get out in front of the runner.
Some expanded stats from my last game that illustrate some of the results from the changes:
The CPU Qb threw to 4 different receivers (first time that I have ever seen that)
3 to WR1
3 to WR2
2 to TE
3 to HB
The Cpu had 6 first downs in the first half without a turnover and only put up 10 points, illustrating that they were able to sustain drives but still stalled on a couple.
Time of possession was roughly equal ~4:30 to 5:30.
The Cpu had 3 sacks but none came from their interior linemen all three were from their two DEs
My tackles were relatively equally spread but concentrated on my LBs then in the secondary and a couple to my interior linemen on run stops.
Based on the way that I play and my skill level I have come to a couple preliminary conclusions on what I have seen from early edits.
1. CPU oline has to be 99 and my dline has to be 1. This has consistently provided the proper time for the cpu qb to go through his progressions, but still allows the dline to react on running plays.
2. I am going to use the -20% reduction to all players speed except the oline, and a 20% reduction to my LBs/CBs/S Focus & Agility as my base. This is the setting that I am going to start really testing, but I am hoping that from this base I can start making smaller tweaks to try and fine tune the game. So I am going to start running full games at this setting and hopefully don't see too wildly varying results.Comment

re: Backbreaker PC Editor 1.3 (6/13 Update)
While that was a Jekyll and Hyde kind of performance from the CPU after I made some adjustments. Only adjustments I made was bumping every QB up to 99 focus and bumping every o-linemen up to 95 focus, 55 agility, 55 speed and 95 strength. for every team. I didn't want to do any thing to drastic just yet.
Played as my created team Sacramento against another created team the Miami . Offenses of both teams were rated a 77, defense of SAC was a 48 and defense of Miami was a 61.
The CPU came out hot in the first half for once on offense against my inferior defense, racking up 240 yards in the first half. CPU QB was 14/22 for 210 yards with 2 tds and 1 INT. He was throwing the ball to multiple receivers and not just focusing on the left side. Their run game was still lacking though, even though they didn't run it that often either.
I couldn't get my offense going on the other side and was down 29-7 at half.
Unfortunately in the second half the CPU turned back into being inept and I shut them out. I was able to make a furious comeback to win 36-29. They only had 40 yards in the second half to finish with 280, still couldn't run the ball very well and the CPU QB threw 2 picks late in the game.
CPU QB still looked significantly better for the most part even with the poor second half and their o-line with the ratings increase only allowed a couple of sacks.
I am going to play a couple more games and then make some other tweaks. I am really hesitant to start making huge changes to the ratings though at this point and am going to try some more minor tweaks first. My Teams

Re: Backbreaker PC Editor 1.1 (6/10 Update)
that was only if you downloaded a roster file from somewhere on the internet. if you are only working with your own files then you can skip the steps about copying your id #'s.Comment

re: Backbreaker PC Editor 1.3 (6/13 Update)
Guys, I ran a couple more tests with the idea of seeing the smallest number of changes I'd need to make in order to have a competitive game.
Here's what I changed (on my team):
SPEED for all DT and N to 10
STRENGTH for all DT and N to 50
SPEED for all DE to 20
STRENGTH for all DE to 40
I didn't change the other two ratings, just strength and speed.
I played three quarters and was getting pounded by a CPU team that was a duplicate except their defensive line ratings weren't lowered. Their offense was very, very tough to stop. So it looks like just making a few ratings changes to a few players makes the game pretty entertaining.Comment

re: Backbreaker PC Editor 1.3 (6/13 Update)
I'm slightly confused about all these roster files floating around and want to simply pick up one and be done.
So does this file (FlyingFinn's) have the same logos as gjsii13's or are they two separate rosters? If so, does anyone know where I can get a hold of a roster file with the hybrid of both logos, player names & attribute edits?Comment

Finn's file isn't a roster, it is an editor. So basically you will download the NFL roster file with the logo's and names, then use Finn's editor to change the player ratings. Finn's editor lets you change speed, focus, agility, and strength values. These are the edits the game itself doesn't allow you to do.Comment

re: Backbreaker PC Editor 1.3 (6/13 Update)
I haven't gotten a chance to download this yet and play around w/ it... but i'm curious as to what lowering only the focus rating for the secondary would do
if someone could play around w/ it, try a drastic change like 1 for all CB's/Safties and report back what they see
not even necessarily stats, but rather what you observe... you could just snap the ball and look in the direction of one of the WR's every play and see how the secondary reacts to the routes, then throw up some passes (even if the WR is covered) and see how quickly the defender reacts to the ball in the air (and if they still only go for the pick, or start trying to swat the ball instead)
if anyone had the time and wanted to play around w/ the focus and report back, that would be awesomeComment

re: Backbreaker PC Editor 1.3 (6/13 Update)
I lowered all CB's focus rating down to 50 and all of a sudden I went from having 5 ints a game to having zero interceptions and 256 yards passing.
I also raised my QBs focus from 80 to like 95 so that had something to do with it, but I was also playing against the Bucs. Will investigate furtherComment
