I agree. Collins would be perfect for that team. They need a qb that isn't going to turn the ball over. That is why I don't think Sage is the right guy for them either. The way he blew the Indi game last year reminded me of John Grisham's novel Playing For Pizza. Which I would recommend to any football fan who likes to, em, I mean knows how to read. I don't know who blew the game against indi worse last year. Sage or the Vikes. Now they are togather.

Re: Favre to the Vikings?
I think it's pretty clear you understand what I'm saying and vice versa so I guess we'll agree to disagree. Not that I don't think Favre would like to win another SB but I don't think it has anything to do with thinking about coming back. Last year he would've happily gone to the Lions. This year I think he would've happily gone to the Bears.
I also agree with PPM. I think you're overrating the Vikings offense and underrating the Jets overall. Pennington was the key to a team with less options on offense and a worse defense winning the Jets division. The Jets started losing when the D slipped. Favre had a good stretch but for the most part he was inconsistent all year... plus as the year went on the gameplan seemed to go more and more away from the run (both Jets backs were probowlers last year).
I really don't see much difference in the talks from last year about Favre leading the Jets to the SB and saying the same thing now with the Vikings. The only possible difference is the conference but barring serious injuries the Giants, Eagles, Panthers, Cards, Falcons, Packers and Bears could all have something to say about that. Just like the Jets, the best option for the Vikings is to have a QB with a Collins mindset, Big Ben at the worse (in terms of wanting to pass more than run). Favre is probably the worse QB in the league for that type of system. Of course, that's different than our discussion because Favre would never think that.
What did Chad do in Miami? Also, the D backs will be fine this year and having EJ back is going to make them that much better. Give us a real QB and this team can go far!

Re: Favre to the Vikings?
I want to know where are people getting the idea from that Favre will just "manage the game" as if it's that easy? Because of his name? Because he is "hungry" to stick it to Ted Thompson and "hungry" to win a Super Bowl?#RespectTheCultureComment

Re: Favre to the Vikings?
What is your definition of managing a game?
I would say just last year:
Game 1 vs MIA 20-14 W:15/22, 194 yds 2tds, 0 int. He handed it off 28 times.
Game 2 vs NE 19-10 L: 18-26, 181 yds, 1 int. Handed off 19 times.
Game 9 vs StL 47-3 W:14/19 167 yds, 1 td, 0 int. Handed off 39 times.
I watched the first two and the game was called close to the vest with the passing game. Not unlike Kerry Collins in Tenn. When rookie Randall Cobb was told by this U.S. Marine that he was a big fan of the wide receiver, Cobb said, “I think I’m a bigger fan of yours.”Comment

PPM the stats you posted show that he CAN do it, but I think that was when he was still trying to be the good boy scout for the new team. Once he got more comfortable he started looking more like the pre-2007 Favre, and the coaching staff couldn't do anything about it. I feel sorry for Thomas Jones.Comment

Re: Favre to the Vikings?
Favre has never Managed the game ever. Its all about him and always will be. He makes more excuses then Jeff Gorden in Racing.
If somebody can post the stats from the 2nd half of the 07 season for since apparently Favre has never managed a game. I mean I understand everyone pretty much doesn't like him but to try and discredit him by saying he never managed a game, when he has before(not as often recently)is just being bitter and ignorant.
And wwharton, basically just said what I was trying to figure out. Hell, I remember in 07 when Favre came to most of the offseason
activities because normally he'd skip them until Mini-camp. I'm pretty sure McCarthy went thru hell THEN just to get him to come.#RespectTheCultureComment
