LOL, it flabbergasts me that he and his agent have the audacity to think they have the control in his future. The guy blew his opportunity, the CFL or UFL should be his only options.

This reminds me a lot of when Mike Tyson came back after his prison stint.

If you want Vick on your team, get ready for PETA marches before every home game, not to mention a media circus rivalling OJ and Michael Jackson. Is it worth all that for a probably washed up backup quarterback?
All Vick has to do is snap off one 50 yard highlight run. Then all this other stuff goes away and we're talking about when and where he becomes a starter.

This is the inevitable truth in the NFL/ESPN hype machine, and you know it.

            wat

Vick is just like every other free agent in the NFL. If teams want him, he has control. If they don't, then he goes where he can.

He is an NFL free agent. Of course he has control over his future. Am I missing something?

NVM Cebby beat me to it.

Not getting all into the whole Vick argument but I have to correct you here could this couldn't be anymore wrong if you tried. Vick got hurt in the pre-season against the Ravens that year and did not play until Week 13 cause of a broken leg. He started his first game the next week against the Panthers and Vick went 3 and 1 as a starter that season. I have no idea what so ever where you are geting those numbers from.

Also Doug Johnson was not 4-7 he was more like 1-7 and was also benched for Kurt Kitner who went 1-3. Let's get the facts straight before just wanting to throw the man under the bus.

No you're right...I had that wrong. Looking at it now I don't even know where I got that from...

Vick got prison time for running an illegal gambling ring. I know the dog lovers hate to believe that but the truth is if it was only dog fighting he would've been out a long time ago. And Goodell gave HIMSELF until week 6 to make a decision... he didn't suspend Vick for 6 games. He spoke on the lying and just like anyone in a position to control a man's life, it seems he understood that most people in a position that could send them to prison will probably lie, right or wrong.

PLEASE don't take this thread back down that path. Jeez, just can't let sh*t go man. There's legit discussion about the man now. You think he's a washed up backup that will bring unnecessary media attention... cool, lets move on from there.

As for BK's comments, I'm in the boat of not expecting him to be what he was but curious to see what he will be and don't think he'll be asked to be what he was anyway.

Does anyone else believe that the "backlash" will be a lot less than some are saying?

In the lockerroom and interviews, it'll be like getting Moss, TO, or Favre for a week, but without the continued antics of TO or Favre that make them a year long distraction.

In terms of protesting, unless he goes to the Bay area where 85% of people list their profession as "Protester", I don't think it'll be that bad. The first day will be terrible, the first week will be pretty bad, and after that there will be small PETA antics before each game, but frankly, nobody listens to PETA aside from its member and they generally aren't football fans (or fans of anything remotely masculine). Opposing fans will boo, but I think Vick can handle that.

I don't think anyone will "pull sponsorship" or anything like that unless it's a local pet store. Football teams aren't like TV stations, aside from New York, the 2 Bay teams, and the 2 DMV teams, I don't think there are any "if we don't sponsor team A we can with team B" since sponsoring a team a state over isn't going to help you. Any larger sponsors value money over taking a stand. Papa Johns is no longer the official pizza? Dominos and Pizza Hut will call 30 seconds later.

yep. its all about the money$$$$$$. I dont think Vick will be the Primetime player he was 3 years ago( Hell LT is not the same either.....) but he still will be better than half the qbs in league. Even in his 2 year absence, he still has won more playoff games than most qbs( see Romo etc....)

Yes, he is a free-agent, but that wasn't what I was saying. He and his agent are giving the impression that they will have a handful of suitors willing to pay him what he wants...I don't think that will happen. That's all I was saying, basically I was just agreeing with Wharton.

Dude, you would argue that the sky isn't blue. Of course he can choose, what I was saying is that I don't see how he has the audacity to think he will have a choice. He may have a choice, but I don't see how he will. My opinion, simple as that.

So you that at least 31 teams will refuse to sign Vick?
