Should just do a search and pull up the 50 threads this question was already asked in. And should really add his rushing stats if you're going to base all of this on stats.

Yeah, really -- on both comments.

What made Vick dangerous was the threat of the run. He was an okay passing quarterback, but quarterbacks can also run and that's why he had success. The threat of the run was always looming and it forced defensive coordinators to have to use one of their defenders as a spy. That's why I'd say he was on that other tier with a lot of the 'average to good' quarterbacks. He wasn't Manning/Brady level, but he wasn't scrub "why is he starting" level either. He was somewhere in between.

I think Vick can have success again. Some teams may be able to shut him down (I know Tampa Bay had success against him) but other teams can struggle mightily against him. If you don't have a established quarterback, why not give him a shot? I guess the problem is if you sign him you have to commit to him because you're going to have to mold your offense around him, not mold him to your offense.

just watch his tapes from 02(dan reeves) his best WR was finnernan and gaylor and 04-05 you will see he regressed somewhat cuz of the WCO and knapps horrible playcall but he still had what it took to win games on the last drives etc.

hes not a damn WCO qb hes a qb that needs to be in a simple dan reeves type offense anyway he was a baller before and i know he can still be a game changing player in this league i hope he returns and has his head back on right.

I agree. Vick is a strong arm qb that threw a nice immediate/deep routes. WCO was the worst case system for him.

The team that would benefit the most from a talent on the field perspective would be MN. Imagine Vick, AP, and Harvin running around the field. An occasional deep pass to Berrian. As a Packer fan, Vick or Cutler to the Vikes scared me. Favre, just makes me laugh right now.

I don't care what you thought of him as a QB, he was entertaining.

Yes, he struggled to adapt to changes in coaching and the implementation of a completely different offensive scheme, but he probably also coasted on his athleticism through that as well. He had the tools to be great, but that's how the universe works sometimes.

Against a crappy defense or with a video game controller, Vick was absolutely incredible.

Against a good defense in a REAL football game, he's limited at best. Tampa and Philly used to make him look stupid.

Good D's make a lot of QBs look stupid though, and even the great QBs wouldn't look so "great" against them. Vick proved he was an NFL starter... not a HOFer or even the best QB in the league any given year but FAR from the worse, using a style that no other QB could even dream of trying. If he stayed out of trouble he'd be still starting today and the Falcons would still be one of the most watched teams no matter their record so we shouldn't act like he was a complete gimmick.

He wasn't a great QB but, he was a great athlete at the QB position thats about it. I don't think alot of people thought he was great but, he was very exciting player to watch who could bust the big one at anytime. There aren't to many QB's that have played in the league that had his athleticism and thats what he was liked for the most as a football player at the QB position.

Great QB? No.

Second chance in the NFL? Yes.

This "debate" was always common place 'back in the day' at MM. Up there with 'Who is better? Barry or Emmitt?'. There were plenty who labelled him great, especially after he upset Favre at Lambeau Field. It was unbelievable at one point from what I remember.
