Which is why I highly question this signing by the Eagles unless they see him taking over soon. McNabb is an incredibly insecure person by nature, and the "we want Vick!" chants will be reigning down the first time McNabb has a so-so game or worse.

He thought he was competing for the city's affection with TO? Wait until the dust settles over the Vick signing and the PETA protests subside. Vick will be the annointed one in no time.
I love it when out-of-towners talk like they have their fingers on the pulse of the fanbase here. It's so amusing.

Donovan McNabb is the QB of the Philadelphia Eagles. Michael Vick has been in prison and out of the NFL for a year and a half and at the height of his playing days, he could only hope to even approach McNabb's caliber of play at the QB position. We signed Vick to make plays out of the wildcat because our red zone offense stinks. He's not going to start - end of story.

Yeah, Erod knows the city like the back of his hand. You learn about a place sailing by on a yacht.

Ugh...why the hell am I upset about anything Erod says? This is the same genius that said he would take Quincy Carter over McNabb.

            Erod's opinion = emptiness

should be interesting to see how andy reid plans on using him

from a fit standpoint, the Eagles would have seemed like one of the worst possible for vick as they are pure wco which was not his strong point

lets see if reid breaks his mold and uses zone read or rollout with run/pass option with vick

I heard an interview with Howard Eskin and from what he was saying (and I know he isn't the be all and end all of Philly sports) but it seems like the overall reception of this signing has been poor.

I gotta say I dunno what the Eagles plan on doing with him. I mean let's say he doesn't mess up this year and plays next year with a big money contract, will it really be worth it to pay a guy 5 mil+ to run specialty plays?

I think that second year option is a bit of a work.

Seems like they can use this year to build value on Vick (if possible) then trade him off next year to a team that needs him.

From what I'm hearing around me, it's been pretty good. But I think overall, it's completely mixed. Just wait until the season, though. If Vick is making plays, he'll be forgiven. If not... oh, well. He's gone after this year if the Eagles don't pick up the option. Seems like a complete win for the Eagles.

Personally, I think being a situational player will only make Vick more dangerous. I think he'll be in fine football shape. It'll take a few games to shake off the rust, but it takes a few games to shake off the rust after any offseason (Vick's was just extended ).

I mean, how can Vick not have success? He has the passing threat of McNabb, he can sling the ball around a bit (though he won't be the primary passer but he can still pass a little bit) besides the obvious threat of running, Westbrook in the backfield (seems to have been forgotten he's one of the best players in the NFL), Maclin/Jackson on the outside, some decent complimentary receivers and tight ends, and what should be a pretty solid offensive line. This offense is completely stacked. The only question mark is how they're going to use all these weapons. Andy Reid is a mad genius though. They'll find a way.

Now, I wonder about the defense. The death of JJ will impact the team for sure, but so will the retirement of Pete Jenkins (DL coach). But I think the defensive depth is so good that they'll be able to cover for each other. They may not be at the top of the league like last year but I think they'll still be a pretty good defense.

Eagles games are going to be a hell of a show.

I know most the world has gone Wildcat crazy but with the weapons Philly has got now you could do something more inventive easily.

Yeah, welcome back to the NFL, you dog murdering piece of trash. Agree with MattUMD, I hope he gets injured on the first play of the preseason and is out for the year. So he can think more about what a horrible thing he did and then pretend to be contrite about it when the camera's are on. Sickening.

I don't know he's pretending, I just don't think that something he was brought up doing (dogfighting) and was always told was OK, is all of a sudden going to be off his radar after a short jail sentence (compared to what he could have got) and a couple public apoligies with Tony Dungy there just to make him look better. Maybe I'm being harsh, but being a dog lover, I just can't get over what he did and I want nothing to do with him, NFL or otherwise. Simply my opinion.

The guy did his time and now he deserves a second chance. What the guy did was down right wrong and a crime. Our court system gave him his jail time and he served it. During that time he seems to have seen that he screwed up and is sorry. With that said he should be allowed to continue life. It just so happens that he is a football player. He was never taught that what he was doing is wrong until now. His culture sees that as a sport and he is not the first nor the last to engage in dog fighting.
I love dogs and have 2 of my own and find killing of any animal like that wrong but it does not rank with killing a human. There are guys in the NFL that have done that. Little for the Rams and Stallworth both got drunk and drove a car and killed a person. Little was allowed to finish his career and Stallworth we will see. No fuss is made that Little is still playing. But with Vick it is like he is Manson or something. The guy has done his time and should be allowed to work and finish his life. Before you judge him put your self in his shoes and see if you would want the same for you.
Relax, it's just a video game!
