With Alaula you have a guy that can play 3 and 5 technique and has put up similar numbers to Jared Odrick over the last two seasons. He may could have been had later in the round and if there is anything to criticize it might be that. However, I think he will be a really good player for the Jags.
It's funny. If you pay attention to the Jaguars senior editor Vic Ketchman he tends to have a pretty good idea of who the Jaguars will pick, and he starts dropping hints close to the draft.

    Chris from Orlando, FL
I looked at your value board and didn't see Florida C/G Maurkice Pouncey on it. What gives? Everything I've read is that he's on the rise with quite a few teams.

Vic: I have a prejudice against centers and guards in the first round. They have to be special to make my top 32. Mike Iupati is special, plus, he can also play tackle. In talking to a couple of my guys, so to speak, I did not get the impression they considered Pouncey to be special. They told me he was the best of a bad center crop. I hear, however, that the Steelers are prepared to make him the 18th pick of the draft, which would make him special. If you were able to look at every team’s board, I think you would be surprised at how different they are. It’s not just mine. I’ll give you an example. Kareem Jackson, the cornerback from Alabama, is a player of a wide diversity of opinion. Some teams think he might be the best of the cornerback crop. The Cal defensive tackle, Tyson Alualu, is another such player. Some teams wrinkle their nose at him, while others are crazy about him. What I give you are 32 names I believe would be on most boards. Then I call some people I know and check it with them, and I get comments such as, “I like what you’ve done,” or “You have him too low,” etc. Please, don’t take this too seriously.
That's from his Ask Vic column, and honestly he had no reason to start talking about Tyson Alualu.

Good catch, Cy. Didn't even realize that connection until you posted it.

Can someone fill me in on how that Georgia Tech WR got taken ahead of Dez Bryant? I thought Dez was the undisputed #1 WR in this class.

It came into question because of the possibility of Dez Bryant being a head case.

Ah ok, so do we think that the Broncos (that's who took the GT guy right?) took him over Dez because they're trying to avoid another Brandon Marshall?

I'm not the best informed, but I can only guess it was a character issue

lol So true. On a side note, I see that the Bucs have 4 7th round picks and a compensatory pick. I would think they might turn a couple of those into a 5th or 6th round pick or something. NFL.com doesn't have WR listed as one of Tampa's needs, but who's their best WR not named Kellen Winslow? Reggie Brown? I'd like to see them maybe take Arrellius Benn if he's there at #3 or #10 in the 2nd round.

McDaniels in his interview believes Thomas to be more talented than Dez. Now what he wont say, "I dont want another crazy like Marshall"

Didn't he also say that Thomas' skill set reminds him a lot of Marshall only slightly better?

I hope McDaniels knows what he's doing.

On a side note,I'll bet Brady Quinn is wondering who he pissed off in a past life.

I wonder how much of Quinn's struggles influenced teams when it came to Clausen. While I think Clausen is definitely the better player of the two, there were a lot of similarities between their predraft analysis. It will be interesting to see where he ends up, but I have a feeling he will be a Buffalo Bill.

I don't know. It seems like Chan Gailey usually likes to pick up veteran outcasts and turn them into respectable starters for the QB position. Not to mention the OLine and DLine are more of a need than QB. The Bills should be trying to get one of the offensive tackles or Terrance Cody with their next pick I think.
