Wrong, I'm from New Orleans and I go to Ohio State, which is why my location says Columbus.Originally posted by BlzerLet me assure you that I am a huge proponent of size, and it greatly matters. Don't ever let anyone tell you otherwise.
If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)Comment

I can assure you that the Browns will not take Emu. A beat writer for the Browns said he was told that the Browns would not, under any circumstances, take Jimmy Clausen.Too Old To Game Club

I think you guys are safe considering Cassell signed that monster contract. Doesn't make sense why they'd bring a guy like Clausen in unless Weiss spiked Pioli's coffeeAaron

Re: 2010 NFL Draft Thread
Orton is just a stop-gap. I know McDaniels likes him because he doesn't turn the ball over much but Orton doesn't possess the big arm that Cassel and Brady had, which left Orton to throw 1,000 screen passes last year. He's probably gone after this season.
That leaves Quinn and Tebow. Both are huge projects. There's still holes on the defensive side of the ball that need to be addressed, but it seems that 2 years in, McDaniels is just focused on re-tooling the offense to get as far away from resembling anything Mike Shananan did in his 14 years in Denver as possible.Currently Playing:

It was reported last night that Weis was going to try and convince the Chiefs to draft Clausen today. I don't realistically see it happening though. Pioli isn't a headcase.Indianapolis Colts

I don't know if it's already been posted, but Jason La Canfora is reporting the Panthers want to trade up for McCoy.

Re: 2010 NFL Draft Thread
I'm not a Broncos fan but I live right outside Denver and do follow the team since my buddies are fans. From what I saw last year, I thought Brandstater (sic?) had potential to develop into a real solid NFL QB in another year or 2. Looks like he'll be gone now.

When he was drafted, I figured this is the guy he wants to groom to be the long term guy. Then he trades for Quinn, then trades up for Tebow.
Center, guard, ILB, Dline, CB need to be addressed for the remainder of the draft.Aaron

Brandstater is like Colquitt the punter. Getting screwed over despite performing well when given the chance.

It doesn't seem like there was a center worth reaching for at that point and there should be LBs and DEs of good value later. Lots of corners have gone but I think the need for corner is more for the future, and probably not one worth paying first round money to a guy that'll be in the nickel for the next 2 years.
I don't think it was brilliant but don't see it as nearly as bad as you do, I guess. Even if Tebow flames out, I don't see it really having a huge impact on what they can do for the rest of the draft.Comment

Re: 2010 NFL Draft Thread
Miami Dolphins general manager Jeff Ireland hoped he wouldn't be bored Friday morning and afternoon waiting for tonight's continuation of the 2010 NFL draft, and that doesn't appear to be the case.
The Dolphins are actively taking about trades, and many of them.
"I think there will be a lot of action in the top of the second round," Ireland said on Thursday night. "I think there will quite a bit of action actually."
According to a team source, the Dolphins have made calls guaging what it would require to move up from pick No. 40, getting into the earlier region of the second round, fielded calls about moving down in the second round, and held preliminary discussions about acquiring established NFL veterans.
One player that's been discussed with Miami is Dallas receiver Sam Hurd, whom the Cowboys are actively looking to move after selecting Oklahoma State receiver Dez Bryant with the draft's 24th pick.
Hurd, whom this regime signed as an undrafted free agent in 2006 during their tenure with the Cowboys, caught just seven passes for 121 yards and one touchdown last season. He's produced 31 receptions for 510 yards and two touchdowns in his four season with the Cowboys. But more importantly he's a core special teams contributor.
Hurd led the Cowboys with 19 special teams tackles last season. However, he hasn't returned kickoff or punts regularly, and if the Dolphins were to add another receiver to it's crowded stable of wide outs it's highly likely that player would have to bring have some returner skills since the Dolphins traded Ted Ginn Jr. to San Francisco for a fifth-round pick last week.
The Cowboys are also shopping defensive end Marcus Spears, another one of Parcells' former draftees. But considering the Dolphins presently have a logjam of defensive ends (Randy Starks, Kendall Langford, Phillip Merling, Tony McDaniel, Lionel Dotson) due to the addition of first-round pick Jared Odrick, it's unlikely that Miami will do that deal.
If the Dolphins move up in the draft it would likely be to acquire one of the top hybrid linebacker, nose tackles, or free safety prospects available.
Texas' Sergio Kindle, a top tier linebacker whose stock is reportedly falling due to concerns about a troublesome knee, is still on the board, as is Florida's Carlos Dunlap, Utah's Koa Misi, Clemson's Ricky Sapp, Northwestern's Corey Wooten, Ohio State's Thaddeus Gibson, South Carolina's Eric Norwood and Virginia Tech's Jason Worilds.
Alabama's Terrence Cody, East Carolina's Linval Joseph, UCF's Torell Troup, LSU's Al Wood, UCLA's Brian Price and Syracuse's Arthur Jones are the better nose tackle prospects who will likely be taken in the second or third round today.
And Florida's Major Wright, USF's Nate Allen, Georgia Tech's Morgan Burnett, LSU's Chad Jones, Virginia Tech's Kam Chancellor and Georgia's Reshad Jones are the safeties that fit the Dolphins' size molds for that position.Miami Dolphins

Re: 2010 NFL Draft Thread
I was thinking about this and in hind sight, the team that has screwed up is the Rams. Think about it: they could have taken Suh #1 and taken Clausen in the 2nd round. That would have been a heck of a draft right there. No way they knew Clausen would fall to the 2nd though and they felt they had to get the QB."People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do.
