It is 100% true, watch Crime TV sometime, or I can give you links (when I'm on my home PC) to various sites about killers. I'm not talking about random guys who get into a fight at a bar and kill someone, nor the guy who shoots his wife because she's seeing another man. I'm talking about psychopaths and people with very little conscience who enjoy suffering. Vick fits right into that category considering his love of dog fighting and his propencity to have no issue killing animals.

You realize you just called every person who lived before about 1900 a "psychopath."

People have been engaging in blood sports for years. In Asia, killing a dog isn't a huge deal.

If Vick was taught that dogs were cute, cuddly, and man's best friend and he did what he did, he would probably exhibit mental illness. If he grew up around dog fighting, he would be more or less normal.

I'm sure Hindus (or whoever it is who love cows) think that we're mentally deranged for executing cows by the millions.

You're also not talking about a demographic that you understand. Whether you (or I or anyone) like it or not, there is a demographic in this country that is either ok with dog fighting or doesn't care much about it one way or another. There's also a demographic that's involved with gang violence, violence related to drug trafficking, etc. I don't think you have much experience with either. I can tell you that neither demographic fits into the box of the "killers" you're talking about here.

And the vast, vast majority of killers aren't "sociopaths."

Plus, again, there's a big difference between lighting cute, cuddly animals on fire and dog fighting. Assuming Vick was raised in a low income southern neighborhood which I think he was, dog fighting would be more comparable to killing ants than your family pet.

Never mind the fact that Michael Vick is 30 years old.

Can we stop trying to equate dogfighting to contract killing/mafia like tendencies/complete lack of care for human life.

I personally couldn't care less about dogfighting, but I know of the culture and several people that are involved in it. Most of the people that do it actually do love their dogs. It speaks more to an addiciton to gambling or a tendency to mark yourself as an alpha male or a place to flex your 'manhood' similiar to the way people get about drinking games, arm wrestling, bloody knuckles and things of that nature. People who fight dogs aren't exactly guys that are sitting around the house with newspaper clippings of Manson pinned up on their wall just waiting to graduate to killing people. Obviously there are some people that could be that way involved, but it's no different than the guy sitting in the bar with you on a given night, or the person ahead of you in the checkout line at the store. For every five people that are just there to gamble and show off their prized dog, there's maybe one, two guys that are legit horrible human beings who'd kill a person just as easily.

Either way it's not as cut and dry as 'anyone who kills dogs will kill a person at the drop of a hat.'
