Re: The Peyton Manning Discussion thread
49ers definitely aren't the flavor of the day. If he goes there he will arguably be on the best all around team that he's been on his entire career, they're in a weak division and he would be playing in a great city. If he's a smart as many of you say he is and winning another Super Bowl is the most important thing to him, then this decision is a no brainier. My 2K17 Boston Celtics MyLeague

Latest word is that Peyton has been offered $90M over 5 years. I'm no capologist, but I'd think the 49ers would be left pretty thin at the cap to sign draft picks and any other free agents. And that $20M was before Moss was signed.Comment

And I could've sworn that someone in here said the 49ers have already shown Alex Smith a new deal that, if Manning signs with them, would give Smith less per year, and he agreed to sign in that situation.Boston Red Sox

Re: The Peyton Manning Discussion thread
Cap space has something to do with it, but there are so many ways to circumvent the cap with a little imagination. Teams that are interested will find ways to make it work if they can get him. Front-load, back-load, signing bonus, restructuring other contracts...whatever. They will find a way. The Broncos just have the luxury of not having to be so creative if they happen to land him.Comment

Re: The Peyton Manning Discussion thread
Yup, They dont want to end up with a 2nd year player as their starting QB. It would take them from potentially being a NFCCG team again to maybe a playoff team. Harbaugh likes Colin K., but he knows he isntready yet.Comment

Nah. If 49ers truly wanted him back they would have made it happen. Don't believe everything Harbaugh says. Those comments on how good Smith is was to boost his ego. No one ever believed it.
Smith played a lot better last season, but I think plenty of QB's could have played that well in Harbaugh's system. Now if Manning doesn't sign with San Francisco and Smith goes to Miami, we will find out how good another QB will be.Comment

Re: The Peyton Manning Discussion thread
The 49ers would definitely be interesting. Smith isn't terrible, but as has been said, he really benefited from being in the system last year.
I shudder to think what a healthy Peyton could do there.
That said, as long as he doesn't go to the Broncos, I think I won't be upset :P
I really support the Broncos moving forward with Tebow. And Im probably the only person who will openly say that.-the least famous person you've never heard of.Comment
