Routt expected to sign somewhere today, after visiting the Bills, Bengals and Chiefs. PFT speculates he'll be a Chief, think I'd prefer the Chiefs just re-sign Carr.

Samuel is just unhappy because Eagles GM Howie Roseman admitted he's opened to trading him.

It's a shame because Pro Football Focus noted the QB rating against him is the second lowest in the league (52.4).

The latest football news, analysis, and rankings from PFF. Featuring data-driven rankings and stats for NFL, fantasy football, and the NFL Draft.

The sticky situation is that he's getting old, his remaining salary is bloated, Eagles value Nnamdi more, and DRC is much younger and is still currently playing on his rookie contract.

And now looks like Brandon Carr is a going to a new team, so based on looking at that Pro Football Focus article, he looks to be a very good no.2 CB.

Players can officially sign deals already or just only agree to terms right now?

Any player already cut or is not on a team can sign a deal now.

Soon to be free agents can re-sign with their teams at this moment, but by March 13th, they all become free agents and that's when all the fun begins

Technically, pending free agents can't even talk to other teams beyond their own under NFL tampering rules, but none of the teams in the NFL follow the tampering rules. If terms are agreed to between a player and a new team now, we won't know about them until later.

                      Lol Redskins....

It’s hardly a revealing sentiment, but with the Redskins of late the intentions at the all-important quarterback position are always interesting. Or, for fans of the team, nerve-wracking.

We have a game plan on what to do,” Allen recently told CSNWashington’s Redskins Nation. “And obviously our game plan has to have alternate routes on it based on what other clubs do. We feel good about it and how we’re gonna address all the needs on our football team, and [we’re] looking forward to getting after it.”

In other words, Allen said nothing about what the team intends to do.

Defensive coordinator Jim Haslett apparently said something more than nothing about the quarterback situation recently. As summarized by NFL.com, a chance encounter with a fan who also writes a Redskins blog resulted in Haslett being characterized as saying that the Redskins: (1) aren’t interested in Matt Flynn; (2) are interested in Peyton Manning; and (3) would seriously consider trading up to No. 2 overall in order to pick Robert Griffin III.

Haslett predictably has denied saying any such thing. Twice. Strategic interests and potential tampering allegations required him to do so, especially since the fan claims that Haslett said discussions about bringing Peyton to D.C. “have already begun behind the scenes.” But the fan/blogger also is a pastor, which tends to make his account more believable.

In any event, it’s inherently more believable than anything a coach or G.M. ever has to say. About pretty much anything.

I think I'm OK with the Routt signing. I'm sure that it means that Carr is going to be gone, but I'm not willing to rule out the chance of him being back in Chiefs red next season. Our DBs would be amazing if he comes back.

If he does get let go though, I don't feel like Routt is a gigantic downgrade. Carr is going to get paid this year. If we can get 90% of the player that Carr is in Routt for Half the money, I'm all for it. As long as we use that money elsewhere on the defense.

He won't have to play man almost 100% of the time like they do in Oakland, and won't have to be #1 CB. Should make him a pretty good fit.

He won't have to play as much man coverage as he did in Oakland, but I bet that we will start playing more man coverage with him in the lineup. Having Flowers, Berry, Routt and Lewis back there will allow for some more risky blitzing since we have good coverage guys out there.

The funny part of this story is they kept building up this important interview coming up during halftime of the Georgetown game on MASN. As if Allen was going to release the entire gameplan or anything more than what he said, which, if I'm a diehard Skins fan, I'd be pissed if he said anything more than he did. It's basically a reporter trying to get a scoop that everyone should've known wasn't happening.

I also don't give any more weight to a fan's blog because he's a pastor... that's ridiculous. Not calling the guy a liar (though being a pastor doesn't mean that he's not) but who knows how he interpreted what was actually said or if he tried to throw out leading questions to confirm what he already planned on writing.

Chiefs seem to be building something there... if injuries didn't derail them this past year, it could've been a lot brighter. And still, they won what? 7 games? And knocked off the Packers.

                                Trendy pick.

A softer schedule too, having not finished 1st in the division this year.

Backups got a lot of play time, too. They should be dangerous.
