I'm a one game at a time fan too. I didn't pick us, and lost out on some cash in this pool I do because of it. Only picked 2 games wrong and that was one of them. Figures right?

Even with this week on paper looking easy against a depleted Chicago team, I'm still reluctant and think a letdown game is very possible.

Mind blowing stat of the day (for me anyway...probably not for Lions fans):

Detroit's record with Mathew Stafford at QB against teams with a winning record

      Spoiler

Bomani Jones talked about Stafford on a recent podcast. Dude's been in the league 7 years and is basically still considered 'young'. His main point was 'when does he need to show he can do it?' He's had the best WR in the league for that time so... Lots of other teams' QBs have had a lot less time when there are basically 0.5 good QBs coming into the NFL per year

I think Calvin hurt Stafford. Stafford relies too heavily on Megatron to make the play. The Lions have done a very poor job building a team. Stafford and Johnson, when healthy, are formidable. The problem is they have had an unreliable defense, mostly in the secondary, and zero running game.

Stafford will likely never be "elite" but he is certainly one of the better overall QBs in the league. Now whether the Lions will get a GM that can build a team, and a coaching staff to make it all work is another question. He's in my top 17.

This is almost like the Barry Sanders syndrome all over again except I think the Lions actually built a more solid team around Sanders. If they actually had a QB worth a damn they would've been a more solid playoff team in the '90s.

The current day Lions are a patchwork of some elements coming together at times but never the entire package. They should've tried to develop a WR on the other side of Megatron but they've never found that true #2 receiver.

Golden Tate did have 1300+ yards last year, that's a pretty good 2. Draft fails like Titus Young and Ryan Broyles have hurt, Ebron looks like he's next. Lombardi wants Stafford to throw a bunch of short junk passes, which of course is Stafford's weakness. The O-Line is probably the worst I've ever seen in Detroit. Tulloch is done, Ngata has nada, the other teams know the play before the snap, in other words, same old lions

At this point anyone saying the Lions don't have a true #2 is talking out of their ***.

Bum is correct on this one for these past two years. The line sucks and Lombardi has neutered Stafford even more. He's really not cut out for coordinator. Our roster has never been built for the Saints style offense, but we'll keep trying to force it.
