Rashaan Salaam's death in Boulder, CO ruled a suicide. His body was found in a park earlier this month with a gunshot wound to the head.
Salaam's brother, Jabali Alaji, told USA Today this month that Salaam suffered from depression and had symptoms associated with football head trauma, including memory loss and vision problems.

But some of the teams being linked as potentially trading for Garoppolo have top 5 picks.

Give up a top 5 pick for Matt Cassell II?

True, he could end up Matt Cassel 2.0, but let me ask you this. Would that be so bad considering the current NFL QB climate given teams proven inability to draft and develop NFL quality starting QB's? A younger Cassel is better than any QB the Cleveland Browns have drafted year after year.

I hope Carolina loses but I'll bet they win and end up with their patented 7-9 record. It seems like there's around 8 spots that Carolina could fall (8-15).

Nah. **** is still **** no matter what's going on around it.

I feel like your argument is perfect for the Bills and TT as opposed to Cassel.

I wouldn't give up Chicago or Cleveland or SF's first round pick for him.

And throw in a fourth rounder to boot?

Maybe under the right conditions, a 30th pick, if the team was desperate for a QB and the draft class was very weak.

I just think teams will call New England's bluff and force them to re-sign Jimmy to a big contract if they don't trade him for a 2nd or 3rd round pick.

                  I can't envision a team trading a top 10 pick for him.

                    Yeah thats the other thing.

Give up a 1st and a 4th and then have to give him a $15 million a year contract?

If he doesn't work in another offense, that's a huge risk.

Better to use that first round pick to draft a QB and see if he can work in your offense before giving out a big contract.

I agree it's a small sample size, but someone will go for it.

I mean, Houston threw money at Brock and he wasn't anywhere near as impressive as Jimmy G looked for 3 games.

You only need one team to buy in.

Draft class is very weak and more than half the league is desperate for a quality QB. We just saw Minnesota send 1st and 4th round picks for Sam Bradford. That tells you what the QB market looks like right now. Very few options out there right now.

You guys saying the price for Jimmy Garoppolo is too high are in the minority. General consensus among NFL guys is if that's what the market dictates someone will be willing to pay New England and the cost will be fair value.

Looks like the Bills might not have put Taylor in a bubble soon enough.
The Buffalo Bills have made a business decision to put quarterback Tyrod Taylor in bubble wrap to avoid the vesting of $30.5 million in injury guarantees that become full guarantees in March. It may have been too late.

Vic Carucci of the Buffalo News reports that Taylor has “fought [through] a severe groin injury that could need more attention in [the] offseason.”

If “more attention” means surgery and if Taylor can’t pass a physical before the third day of the next league year, the Bills will be stuck with Taylor and the $30.5 million. Which necessarily would make the job less attractive to any coach who may not want Taylor to play quarterback.

The Buffalo Bills have made a business decision to put quarterback Tyrod Taylor in bubble wrap to avoid the vesting of $27.5 million in injury guarantees that become full guarantees in March.

That team thought they were going to be a SB contender so they were willing to pay a high price at that time, because of a last-minute, unforeseen injury.

Now which teams think they're only a QB away?

And of those, which team thinks Garoppolo outside of a NE system would be that QB to put them over the top?

Mediocre teams that think they're "one piece away" when they're more than one piece away.

But Garappolo worth multiple draft picks though? Idk about all that. Remember, these are the same people that paid guys like Matt Flynn and Brock Osweiler and we see how those moves panned out.

Has nothing to do with being a QB away from becoming a Super Bowl contender. It's about solidifying the QB position and moving your organization into the right direction. We have a huge sample size that shows us NFL teams time and time again fail to draft and develop a QB capable of making them a contender. If a team out there views Garoppolo as that guy, they will pay what the trade market dictates. And right now the market shows he could be worth what the Patriots are asking, or possibly even more.

We'll see what happens now that the Patriots have leaked the starting price. And we'll see if they're even serious about trading him. But if a deal does happen, some of you are gonna be very surprised with the way you're talking.

                                Lucky to get a 3rd.
