Steelers assistant coach Joey Porter was arrested at a Pittsburgh bar Sunday after the team's wild-card win over the Miami Dolphins.

Maybe someday the rest of the league will learn to avoid hiring Pats assistants and trading for their leftover QBs. Maybe - the league as a whole learns pretty slowly. They're always sending out their agents of sabotage to other AFC teams too. The Pats just laugh as they waltz into another AFCCG.

I never liked Porter, and when he shoved a hobbled Todd Heap all those years back he fell into my most hated category.

Everything he does now only strengthens my dislike of him

Will never happen. Not how the league operates. If you are around greatness they assume you learn something. If you are in the same QB room with Brady, they assume some of the things he knows passes through you. Its the NFL past, present, future.

Honestly think they could do a lot worse. He's kind of a dick, but he's a pretty good coach IMO.

Yeah, he has 1 of the Bills 2 winning seasons in the past 17 years. If it keeps going like this, you all might end up building a statue to commemorate his 9-7 season.

Ah, the ole "fire the head coach then hire his top assistant". That line of thinking has had such a long, storied history of success.

Think it's a little different with Marrone.

He walked from a HC gig in Buffalo after two years. The word was he needed to put in some time as a coordinator or position coach to get his name back up. It's been two years on Bradley's staff. This has been in the making it seems.

He could be a good HC. But I can't ever be cool with him after what he did here. But hey, maybe he's the right one. Looks that way now.

Now the Marrone hiring makes a lot more sense. I didn't think Coughlin would be interested in coaching again, so that's a smart move on Jacksonville's part.

Coughlin running the show with Marrone as HC?

Either they'll have tremendous success or their hard assedness will make it a short tenure. I have a feeling that Jags offense is going to be scaled back quite a bit next season.
