This looks like a move to ease in EW when Thompson hangs up the cleats. I think Ted is signed for 2 more years.

The mystique of the Raiders franchise and the city of Las Vegas are a match made in heaven if you ask me.

          Cool, cool.

Didn't the Colts do something similar with Andrew Luck's rib injuries last year? They didn't get any punishment for it did they?

Oakland Raiders just flows better. Rather they stay there. Couldn't care less about Vegas having a franchise.

Didn't the Seahawks break NFL OTA protocol not to long ago? Could be punished for being a multi time offender.

Not really apples to apples, but I'm sure you knew that. The Colts didn't report Luck's injuries properly but did report other injuries and Luck even missed games. Should have at least been given a slap on the wrist for the inconsistencies.

Sherman wasn't on the injury report and missed practices due to injury and was listed as given time off for non-injury reasons. They'll bring the hammer down on that.

Also, Colts' QB Andrew Luck underwent Shoulder Surgery and should be ready to go by the start of Training Camp.

I wouldn't have asked if I knew for sure. Thanks for the clarification.

Only reason I'm okay with this move. The two fit together.

If they moved the Raiders to Toronto or pretty much any city outside of California, I'd be peeved.

I know the knock on Las Vegas is that no one is from there, but that hasn't stopped the NFL from having three teams in Florida.

I don't like that LA got two teams, as I don't think any city needs multiple teams in modern times, but the ones who did go there at least made sense.

I think Vegas will fall in love with the Raiders (and rain on the NHL's parade). To adopt a team with that persona and that history is like winning the lottery for LV -- how fitting.

Well, I'll take a clunky sounding city+team name over playing at that O.Co garbage house any day.

I'm all for keeping a team where they belong but this is probably one of those exceptions to the rule. As you say those two are meant for each other and if Davis is even half as smart as his father he'd really play up the renegade/outlaw image in promoting the team in Vegas.

I don't necessarily think it's a death knell for the Vegas hockey team though as the NHL has set it up where that franchise will be pretty competitive right from the start and there are a lot of people from the north east and Canadians that flow in and out of that city. I think this is one situation where the demographics are similar but different enough that both franchises can do well.

Greg Bedard of SI wrote an article on the head coach hiring season.

You can learn a lot about the NFL's most and least successful franchises by looking at both the new hires and candidates who were passed over for this year's head coach openings.

Rick Dennison hired as Bills OC. Served under Kubiak in both Denver and Houston as OC. Also followed Kubiak for his one year in Baltimore, holding the QB coach position there.

I've always loved the offenses Kubiak employs so I'm assuming a lot of that has rubbed off on Dennison. He's also been an OL coach and a special teams coach.

I like it a lot. The names that were out there, Greg Olson and Brad Childress, were uninspiring. This guy seems to have a long track record and has won a couple of SB's. Played in a couple too.
