Re: NFL Off Topic
Funny story, out of the 12 years they’ve done Hard Knocks. Only 5 years has the team made the playoffs with 0 Super Bowl appearances.

Not a funny story when you remember that one of the ways to avoid mandatory inclusion in the show is making the playoffs two straight years.Comment

Re: NFL Off Topic
Calvin Johnson wrote about what he's been doing in his time since retiring (skiing) and why he's not coming out of retirement.
I still get it all the time, but mostly when I go to the airport. Not so much in Detroit, but in cities like Atlanta or Miami — any city with an NFL team. I’ll be walking through the concourse, minding my business, and people will say, “What’s up, Megatron! You making a comeback?”
People see me in their airport and automatically assume I’m in town to meet with their team — to come out of retirement.
But I’m not.
I’m just … there — on a layover, taking a vacation with my wife, or en route to explore a new hobby. I’ve picked up a few over the last couple of years — you know, things I either wasn’t allowed to do while I was playing or just didn’t have time for. I’ve spent the last two years really getting to know myself and learning how I want to enjoy my free time.
I’ve been doing some fishing, playing a little golf — and surprisingly to most people, skiing. For some reason, I always wanted to try skiing. Growing up in Georgia, cold-weather activities were a novel concept to me. So last winter, some of the fellas and I took a weekend trip to Breckenridge, Colorado, to run the slopes. We had a blast. It was … well, it wasn’t easy, but it wasn’t hard, either. I got the hang of it pretty quick, and now I’m hooked.
So y'all can shut it about him going to New England or whatever other awful scenarios you worked out in your head.Originally posted by BlueNGoldI feel weird for liking a post about exposed penises.Comment

Re: NFL Off Topic
Crazy it’s been two full seasons without Calvin Johnson playing WR for the Detroit Lions. For a team that relied on him so heavily, they’ve done pretty well without him. That’s not CJ’s fault, just interesting the addition by subtraction. Honestly, probably allowed Stafford to grow and not have to rely on one guy. Shame they didn’t employ that philosophy when Johnson was around... he might still be!
Glad he’s finding happiness in retirement.
Made me stop and think how quickly his career came and went. And it wasn’t really that short (8 seasons or so I think), but makes you want to appreciate the real good ones when they’re here.NHL - Philadelphia Flyers
NFL - Buffalo Bills
MLB - Cincinnati Reds

Re: NFL Off Topic
Hall of Fame Debate season has started
Four players in their first year of eligibility made the list of finalists for the Pro Football Hall of Fame’s Class of 2018. Steve Hutchinson, Ray Lewis, Randy Moss and Brian Urlacher will have selectors discuss their cases during “Selection Saturday,” the day before Super Bowl LII.
In addition, Everson Walls, in his 20th — and final — year of eligibility, became a first-time finalist.
All five offensive linemen on the semifinal list made the cut to 15. Four defensive backs, including Walls, also are finalists.
The selection committee was given an initial list of 108 nominees, which was reduced to 27 semifinalists in a mail-in ballot. Roger Craig, Torry Holt, Hines Ward, Leslie O’Neal, Simeon Rice, Richard Seymour, Karl Mecklenburg, Steve Atwater, Ronde Barber, Leroy Butler, Don Coryell and Jimmy Johnson were the semifinalists failing to receive enough votes to advance.
The Hal of Fame already had announced the two seniors candidates — Robert Brazile and Jerry Kramer — and the contributor finalist — Bobby Beathard — who will join the 15 modern-era finalists on the ballot.
The 2018 Modern-Era Finalists with their positions, years and teams:

Re: NFL Off Topic
Obviously Ray Lewis is in hands down, and I was about to say Moss should get in first ballot also until I remembered that TO had to wait.
Moss should get in 1st ballot, but so should TO.
And here is an embarrassing confession: When it comes to offensive linemen and their HOF credentials, I am now kinda relying on their Madden ratings throughout their playing careers. I feel ashamed lolComment

Re: NFL Off Topic
I'm just waiting for the reasons why TO and Moss won't make it this year (TO again and Moss 1st time). But I know I will never get the reasoning from any HOF voter.Comment
