How does him not attending affect the other inductees and "those before him" in any way whatsoever.

Even if you find TO's move petty the answer to this wasn't more pettiness from the Shield. Then again you can't teach old dog new tricks.

Because it's bound to create a huge media %$#@storm? No one should have to deal with that nonsense on what should be one of the greatest days of their lives. If Owens had even the slightest regard for others he would realize that, but...

My mom used to tell me "if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all." Turns out she was just being petty.

Has it created a media ****storm? Other than some good ol boys getting their panties in a twist what kind of fallout has there actually been? He decided to opt out and give his speech at his alma mater. Is there something I'm missing? I know TO's career was marked by "diva" behaviors, but I don't see how this is some middle finger apart from the fact he is breaking from tradition.

You don't think it's silly for the HOF to not talk about or bring up one of the inductees simply because he chose not to attend the ceremony? That sets the bar fairly high for pettiness.

And if it is going to be a media ****storm, can anyone truthfully say that the HOF not acknowledging one of the inductees will not contribute to that?

Fine. TO is a wonderful human being who should have been a first ballot HoF'er.

So just to be clear, TO should celebrate what should be “one of the greatest days of his life” the way everybody else wants him to celebrate so that he doesn’t affect the way that the other guys want to celebrate their day? Yeah, seems logical.

It's called common courtesy. Look it up.

Do you simply have to use hyperbole?

No one is saying TO is a wonderful human being, that is not really the point. Our point is that the HOF had the chance to take the high road but they opted to go low.

Man please. So he has to change what he wants to do for the biggest day of his life as courtesy to someone else? FOH with that

If he had shown up and roasted the HoF voters you (and plenty of others) would have gone off on him for not respecting the sanctity of the hall, and been all, "see, this is why we can't stand this clown." That would have been 1,000x worse than this.

Exactly this. TO pulling out and wanting to do his own thing? Not surprising. Expected, almost. The NFL completely ignoring his enshrinement... actually, you know what, that’s not surprising either. LOL

All this, “Well he/they did it first!” gotcha BS is old. Going tit for tat over a freakin’ speech. Incredible.

                            Very likely.

Obviously he doesn't have to, the fact that we're having this conversation is proof of that. But is it really so much to ask that for once in his life Owens should consider doing something for someone other than himself?

So you know his personal life now huh? Has he ever done anything for someone other than himself ever? You know for a fact he hasn't? That's what you're telling me right now?
