Le'Veon Bell's agent Adisa Bakari just now on NFL LIVE: "He's going to do the things necessary to protect his value long-term."

    Week 1 sure sounds like a long-shot.

Unfortunately I think you're right. I just think there's going to be a crap ton of acrimony. I can see the fans turning on this team if things sour on the field as well.

Only in the NFL does Pittsburgh union rep call out a teammate for wanting more money from the team billionaire owner. Not only are some fans brainwashed to be pro ownership during financial disputes, but some of the damn union reps are too.

            Good lord, man.

It'll be interesting to see how the whole "RBs don't matter" meme is like in a couple years especially if some of the young elite RBs prove to be indispensable. The Bell situation feels a bit unique though and those quotes are pretty interesting to see. One gets the feeling he's probably not the most popular guy in that locker room.

Those quotes were pretty shocking. You don’t hear teammates bash each other like that.

Yeah I took Bell 8th in my fantasy league idgaf

He isn't getting more money from the billionaire though. The cap isn't increasing if they sign Bell, it stays the same and the rest of the players won't be able to get that money that went to Bell.

Bell handled this wrong. If he is serious about holding out, he should have told them to trade him or offer him X amount.

It becomes business in the off-season, but during the regular season it’s all about football to the players. I also imagine that there is an underbelly of resentment, that perhaps has always been there, stemming from the inequality of compensation for “Star” players and the “other” guys that actually get things done for them.

As for the ownership remarks, the collective bargaining guarantees 49% of the revenue to players in the form of the CAP. The ownership already has their money; Bell is seeking a higher percentage of the players portion of money because he thinks he’s worth it. Your worth what someone is willing to pay you though - maybe next year he’ll find a suitor, but I’m afraid that he going to regret not taking the long term deal that was offered by the club.

Y’all think it’s possible that Bell told his teammates that he’d be showing up this week only to not show and that’s why his teammates are speaking out like that?

If that’s the case, could we really blame theme for being upset?

That’s actually the rumor. One unnamed player claims to have a text from him that he would show up by yesterday and when he didn’t that’s why everything all if a sudden blew up.

In any case, these kinds of disputes are laying the groundwork for the next CBA negotiations. If I were a Steelers player, I'd be pretty pissed my union rep was making those kinds of comments and would be looking to see if there were someone else to represent me at the table.
