I'm not really sure how but even so I don't care who you are you are going to fail far more than you succeed on 4th and 15. The risk is great too because failing would give your opponent the ball between your 25 and 39 yard line (or even worse if you manage to lose yards).

Additionally, you could only attempt it if you are trailing and there is a limit of two attempts per game.

"Per source, the onside kick proposal did NOT pass."
"NFL owners have tabled the 4th-and-15 alternative to the onside kick, I’m told. Further discussion needed."

"A bylaw change increasing the number of players that may be designated to return from injured reserve from two to three was approved, I'm told."
'Three rules change proposals were approved:

      2. Make permanent expansion of automatic replay reviews to include scoring plays/turnovers negated by foul

      8. Expands defenseless player protection for KR/PR

      9. Prevents manipulation of game clock with multiple deal-ball fouls"

I wonder why the limit of two attempts per game and only when trailing?? I assume the 4th and 15 came from the target historical success rate they were trying to align with the onside kick....about 12%. The numbers alone would seem to discourage it outside of desperation mode. Maybe there is a good reason???.....but in general I prefer less complexity.

I don’t think the official proposal actually had anything about only being able to do it when trailing from what I saw.

I saw a lot of people speculating you could only do it when trailing but none of the quotes about the proposal included that language that I came across.

            The 4th and 15 option failed 16-16.

A form of sky judge will be used during the preseason and could make it into the regular season.

I know that some view the proposal as "Gimmicky"....which I get. But it was being discussed to replace the Onside Kick which has to be the most Gimmicky play in the sport.

Deservedly so. I don't understand how you can be that tone deaf in a public statement. Even if you do believe it, you have to have people telling you that you can't say that stuff.

Just want to drop an amen to Martellus Bennett. He dropped the mic.

On field wise, Allen Robinson says he’s been Mitch Trubisky multiple times a week but thinks he’ll mesh with whoever is the starter. Man this team is so frustrating. All they had to do was not get cute in one draft and everything is different.

People should be able to say what they want. And we should be able to have conversations with them without shutting the door on them. That's what this country is about.

I never agreed with the kneeling. Want to make real change instead of empty virtue signaling? Do what the protesters are doing now. Talking to their respective police precincts and politicians and having these conversations.

I could be wrong, but I never saw an NFL player do what these average citizens are doing. And those average citizens are doing more in a week than the NFL players have done in years.

Just because you don't hear about players doing anything doesn't mean they aren't. A large portion of them are giving back in some way or another.

Yeah, they give money away to some organization to have other people do the work for them, and yet it still doesn't get done.

Again, how they choice to bring awareness is their decision. Colin brought awareness in a non-violent manner that was extremely visible, but people took that to mean things he never intended.

And people who say that athletes "don't do enough" will turn around and say they need to 'shut up and play ball."

Brees and Fangio have every right to their opinion just like "we" have every right to **** on them.
